Actually they are for fans of tradition.

The outfits are inspired by the uniforms of the original Steelers team, which was called the Pittsburgh Pirates back in the early 1930s

A lot of teams do that from time to time – I see it as just pure capitalism/marketing being dressed in the “it’s for tradition” shit.

I think all those old uniforms look horrible and thus the reason they are not worn any more. IMO the NFL is probably seeing if they can somehow sale some of these ugly ass jerseys and make a profit.

I remember reading somewhere that in the 1930's when the game was much more "run" oriented that the striped uniforms were used to confuse the enemy. Much like the stripes on a zebra in a herd or the "razzle dazzle" paint scheme on WW I battleships.
