It really bothers me when people come in and complain about a $10 dollar cover. Thats cheaper than going to the movies and you can stay as long as you want. A strip club is a luxury it shouldn't ever be cheaper than 10. So stop complaining when you walk buy me you cheap ass.
Anything that keeps the broke losers out, I am in favor of. I think about $10 to $15 is about right. It keeps out the loser guys who think that for $5 they can try to own a girl for the whole night. I hate when they are at the stage and demand their rights and waste my time for a honey that I am interested in. He intends to give her nothing but his good looks. What a joke.
I often visit clubs in the afternoon and very seldom pay a cover (except for and occasional $5 or $10 cover at a juice bar). I do not have a problem with a reasonable cover for an evening visit. Consider the OP's movie alternative.
To get in to see a movie the normal evening ticket is $12 to $18. When you add $8 for a bag of popcorn and $7.50 for a small soda, you have spent $30 or more for two hours of sitting by yourself in a dark theater. If you take a date the movie is $60, BEFORE you try anything. Add dinner and drinks and a "movie" date is closer to $200. Even at that price, there is no guarantee I'll get more than a peck on the cheek unless I've been out with her before.
In the alternative, an evening at a club costs $10 to get in and $10 to $15 for beer and if I spend anything on dancers, it is because I'm (at least) groping them and they are groping me. At the club, if I don't like the dancer sitting beside (or change my mind after a few minutes), I can quickly select a different dancer. So my total is about $25 plus compensation for specific entertainment. At a club if I am out $200 it is because I had a VERY good time.
I also club primarily in the afternoon and rarely are charged any cover, or if there is one it's usually only $5 tops and that usually includes a non-alcohol drink.
What I do get pissed about is forced valet parking during the daytime. That's a deal breaker for me. I can see a need during busy night shifts but at 2pm on a Tuesday????? Fuggedaboudit!!!!
I don't have a real problem with the money, except that it's all going to the club and not the dancers. What I object to is the nickel-and-diming. If a club wants to charge $30 to get in, then do that. Don't tell me the cover charge is $10 when it's really $30 by the time you throw in valet, coat check, drink minimum, and LD admission.
The higher the percentage of the money I spend that walks out the door in a stripper's purse, the more I like the club. The purpose of a strip club is to exchange money for adult entertainment. Strippers and custies need to wise up and realize they have a common interest in forcing clubs to compete over minimizing total overhead (covers, house fees, taking a cut of each dance, penalties to dancers for not selling club logo shit).
Of course the club has to make a reasonable profit, and I prefer they make most or all of it in the cover charge. Keeps out freeloaders.
If admissions and drinks keep the dance prices in control then go for it. It's when a place wants $20 so I can walk in and pay $40 for a lap dance that I'm annoyed.
One thing I hate about the infrequent reviews of Iowa strip clubs which are BYOB is the fact they all complain about exorbitant "parking" fees, or whatever it is they call it. Well, do they ever think about the fact the clubs can't serve alcohol and therefore have to charge the cover they charge? It's like the customer thinks the club isn't allowed to make a profit. Well, if the club doesn't make a profit, eventually, it closes. Do they want clubs to close? That's not a good thing, and to close because of that would be stupid on top of it.
Now with that said, it is possible they do charge too much, as far as some customers are concerned.
I can see movies for a lot less than $10. I guess the cost of living is higher in other parts of the country.
I believe I have the right to complain about whatever I want to, whether that is Obamacare, people trying to do away with our rights, or a club charging higher cover charges. If Someone is really upset about the cover charge, they just won't pay it.
One club in my area charges for a show every so many months. I just don't go because I don't want to pay for it.
Be thankful you have money to burn. I try to maximize what I get for my money.
I guess if I really wanted to save money at one club, I would pay $500 for the VIP lifetime membership and get free cover with every visit. I figure that would pay for itself in only about a year for me. I could have saved a few thousand dollars in cover charges already.
Even clubs with high cover charges will have the broke ass losers who are boyfriends and friends of the dancers who get in for free with their connections. Not to mention the drug dealers get in for free too - they are treated as celebrities by the dancers and staff.
Basically if you want to avoid going to clubs with shady characters go to clubs in the nicer parts of town.
My concern with valet parking is the fact that I am trusting my car to some punk who doesn't take responsibility for any of the damages.
One of my favorite clubs, Inner Room, charges no cover until 7:00pm and also gives a free shot prior to 7:00. After 7:00 cover is $7 weeknights and $10 on weekends. Is it cheap to try to arrive by 6:45? I figure if I save the cover and get a free drink, that is enough for another LD.
I don't payning a cover if the club environment warants it. $10.00 to sit in filth and stink ia sking for charity not cover.I can afford it but it seems greedy in some cases and not worth it. Any time i can save 2-30 dollars before i enter i take it. More money for the min event.
Too bad you can't sneak into the club like you can into the movies. If AMC wants to charge me $12 for a movie, cool. I'll just movie hop. Sneaking in is the shit. I've never been able to sneak into Disneyland but I've snuck into Knotts Berry Farm twice.
