Iceland Banned Strip Clubs! Can it Happen Elsewhere?

Really enjoying our hobby. Been thinking about what if SCs were ever banned in U.S. Dismissed the thought as highly unlikely, until I just learned Iceland did exactly that a couple of years ago, and is now considering banning internet porn! WTF! "Iceland has had laws banning the printing and distribution of pornography for years, but those laws haven't been updated to include the Web. And two years ago, the nation's parliament banned strip clubs, saying they violate the rights of the women who work in them." Full [view link] article: [view link] My question is what would happen to all the strip club stakeholders if SCs were ever banned in U.S. Would strippers just shift to other forms of sex work? Would club owners/investors put their money into other adult entertainment ventures? What would WE do without a regular SC fix? What about stripper boyfriends, college plans, kids... What about the growing SC chains? Would LE have less to do? I was happier just dismissing the notion of not being able to enjoy SCs as an extremely far-fetched, ultra-hypothetical possibility. I suspect Islanders may have thought that a few years ago as well. Your thoughts?

Considering the USA's puritan background, if clubs were to be banned IMHO it would have happened long ago. Don't worry about it, save your energy.

Holy shit! Can't believe it. Might be the first time every, but I am actually in complete agreement with alutard about something. If anything I see prostitution full legalized across the majority of the country before there is a strip club ban.

What is there to do in Iceland except go to strip clubs and watch porn?

Not sure of the historical reason why, but, apparently, Iceland is a very matriarchal society. Not saying correlation is causation but...

I hope it doesn't happen here. I doubt they will ever be banned. However the six foot rule is definitely a threat. Many cities already have the six foot rule in place. Luckily my city of Lexington doesn't.

Iceland Air was trying to get people to lay over in Iceland a few years ago and they were running cheap specials to fly through Iceland to your destination in Europe. I have been thinking about that for some time. But if there are no strip clubs, what is there to do, go see a bubbling mud pot? On the other hand, there are only about 300,000 people in the whole damn country. I know there might be some Scandinavian babes, but how many can there be in such a small pool? I guess now it doesn't even matter.

Iceland is a beautiful country. If you go to enjoy the unique environment you'll have a good time. But even before the strip club ban the clubs weren't particularly great. Beautiful girls (mostly E. European) but expensive and low mileage. Can't even remember how much I spent (didn't help that the dollar was weak compared to the krone at the time -- almost 10 years ago). But the whale watching is cool, puffins are cute (also on the menu, didn't have the heart to eat puffin though), and geology is fascinating. Geyser is just spectacular. Water spouting every few min. and these incredible clear blue pools that are apparently over 95 degrees. Reykjavik is incredibly clean and I think there is basically no crime. Hot water is apparently free to all due to the geothermal activity (at least that is what I was told). Only downside is that showers smell like sulfur. So go if you want a beautiful place to hike etc. and take a break from clubbing. If you want hot clubbing...not so much

Any place that could produce an oddity like Bjork is capable of just about anything.

I remember reading that premarital sex is the norm in Iceland and that the average age for first time sex is about 14. Who needs strip clubs?

There would almost be a riot if they got rid of strip clubs. Thats my weekly entertainment. Underground strip clubs would increase/ as well as clip joints. Underground sex clubs and brothels would increase and law enforcment would be powerless to stop it.

They had to outlaw strip clubs because the stripper names did not comply with Icelandic law. "A child must be given a name before the age of six months. The Personal Names Register includes all Icelandic names that have been approved. A special act of law applies to the giving of names."

Lol sclvr - Bjork! I wonder if she used to be a stripper before she got into music. She probably would've been the world's weirdest stripper.

To be honest, I'm surprised the rest of the Scandinavian countries haven't followed suit. Generally, those countries are into the whole social welfare state thing, which is the type of system which leads to banning strip clubs.
