Anybody else ever wonder how many dancers/strippers there are in the USA? I was pondering this question the other day when as I realized there was no way to ever meet them all, no matter how hard I try...sigh.
If you take the total number of clubs in the US as counted on tuscl (n=2448) and multiple by the average number of dancers per club (for example 40-45, assuming 20 or so for each of two shifts), then the total number of dancers comes to about 100,000.
It's not an exact science I realize, does anyone else have a guess on the average number of dancers per club. It's probably a bell-shaped curve distribution with clubs like Dallas' Baby Dolls or Miami's Mons Venus on the high end with 100+ on their rosters and some very local clubs I've been in with less than 5.
And given the total US population at just over 300 million (half of which are women), if the 100K dancer number is correct, there's about a 0.05% chance that your little daughter is currently or might end up a stripper.

I find it outrageous that with all my tax money that goes to BLS, they can't even help us with this important question.
