Have you ever wondered ...?

Now as tax season is upon us (my worst time of the year) have you ever wondereed what the 1040 of the typical dancer looks like? I can imagine that the majority of them claim almost nothing for income - or just enough to qualify for The Earned Income Payments --- how many dancers that you know are receiving food stamps (here in Michigan it is called "Bridge Card") and are driving a new Escalade? How many dancers are mooching off of the government for medicaid instead of providing for their own healtgh care? I just wonder as being both a tax-paying citizen (under protest) and a customer of the local lap dance clubs! I just wish that I could take every dime I have spent at a club and declared that as a charitable contribution --- maybe I will begin asking dancers if they are a "501C3 charitable organization" and getting receipts for my contributions! Just a thought!

My current ATF is a CPA in her mid 40s. She tells me most dancers don't even file returns.

My ATF filed returns, but she sure didn't report the money she was making. That is most always the case with any cash employee. One of the major reasons to do away with the IRS and federal income tax and replace it with a consumption tax.

I was gonna say the same, the 1040 would be completely blank because I imagine most don't file.

Here’s an article about a lawyer (yes, a lawyer) who tried to claim the $100K+ he spent on prostitutes and porn as a medical expense deduction on his taxes. He went to Tax Court after the IRS disallowed the deduction. The Tax Court had a couple problems with his claim:

1. His visits to prostitutes were not prescribed by a doctor for any medical condition.
2. Paying prostitutes for sex is, ah, illegal.

"have you ever wondereed what the 1040 of the typical dancer looks like?"

LOL...I think a lot of them are non-existent to begin with.

"One of the major reasons to do away with the IRS and federal income tax and replace it with a consumption tax"

...which would be a HUGE giveaway to the very rich & wouldn't negate the need for a tax collecting agency at all.

stripper are so scatter brained they can barely maintain a somewhat consistent work schedule. No way the vast majority even file returns.

tx: I think MisterGay is suggesting it would be hard to design a consumption tax where the rich pay the same amount of net tax revenues as they do now. Duh!

I asked one stripper about if she pays taxes out of curiosity and she replied that they do not have to pay them.

LOL...what everyone knows is that the rich have waaaay more disposable income to buy things (whether they really need them or not) than the average American, period.

Re the 1040: you can't see what typically doesn't exist. Most want to stay below the government radar.

If only insurance covered strippers as therapy, I'm sure we could find a doctor willing to provide the referral.

mitciv,

Bottom line is, income would not be hidden. Regardless of what one earned, they would do one of two things, save the earnings or spend them. Saving is always a good thing, if one has any foresight. If spent all pay an equal rate, and of course the "rich" would pay more since they would spend more.

What this would not do, is allow liberals to "social engineer", one of their favorite pastimes!

"If spent all pay an equal rate, and of course the 'rich' would pay more since they would spend more"

...and all of that spending would come out of their VAST pool of disposable income, which the rich could do with wasting on things that they don't really need in the first place. There's a big difference between spending a lot of money on a boat or spending money to buy numerous things just to get by yanno!

"What this would not do, is allow liberals to 'social engineer'"

LOL...as if designing tax policies that specifically help out the rich (who really don't need any help in the first place) isn't "social engineering". What a fool you really are clubber...run along now old man..

The problem with liberals and money is that they think THEY are entitled to tell others that actually EARN the money, who they should give it to.

True be told, it isn't any bodies fucking business what someone spends their money on, as long as it is legal.

Also, no one is entitled to much of anything just by being a US citizen. Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

That is what the founders said, but of course it has become convoluted due to the trampling of the Constitution by activist liberal judges.

So MG, you would rather only tax the rich instead of tax everyone? How about we stop the wasteful liberal entitlement programs so there is no need for excessive taxation.
avatar for MisterGuy

"So MG, you would rather only tax the rich instead of tax everyone?"

Nope, I never said that at all. A truly progressive taxation system that taxes the rich at a much higher rate (and that yields way more money from them, since they can better afford it than others) is ideal in my mind. One could successfully argue that, at the federal level, our current taxation system only taxes people based on the percentage of total wealth that any given income bracket controls right now.

"How about we stop the wasteful liberal entitlement programs so there is no need for excessive taxation."

LOL...we do not have "excessive taxation" in this country. Anyone that has looked at other system around the world knows that. Also, our current problems with excessive & unsustainable deficits can be directly tied back to the Bush tax cuts, which in no way, shape, or form paid for themselves, period. Anyone that feels that we will be able to get out of our current financial situation without tax increases is living a fantasy world!

My life is enriched forever knowing you've deigned to honor me in this fashion. It's too much to hope of course, that I might in the future be once again worthy of your majestic notice, but know that should it ever again strike your benificent fancy to use my unworthy words, I will be honored beyond the bounds of this mortal coil for you to do so.

I only know of one for sure that files. 3 year ago she and her hubby bought a $175K house. Her hubby was drawing retirement pay from the army. In order to qualify for the loan she had to declare $60k in strip club earnings and now must pay taxes on that.

Q: "Have you ever wondered what the 1040 of the typical dancer looks like?"

A1: Sure, but since she was a dancer all I had to do was tip her a $1 for her to show me. I didn't like it much, it wasn't very sexy.

A2: You know, actually, every woman potentially has a 1040, it's not like a dancer's 1040 is somehow more special than any other woman's 1040. I go to the clubs to look at their hot bodies, tight neo-post-pubescent asses, and firm young bodacious titties, not their 1040s. I guess every man has his fetish, but I think it's kind of creepy to get turned on by a dancer's 1040 rather than by a dancer's tits or ass or pussy.

A3: 1040s??!! I thought only men had 1040s! I mean, I know that *I* have a 1040 ... uh ... does this make me gay?
