How to write a useful Review

When reading articles that people have written about going to clubs, research is almost always the the key factor. TUSCL is not always the most user friendly site, for example, some members have one or two reviews all from the same club, while others have dozens, even hundreds, from clubs all over the country. these guys provide real solid input since they can compare different clubs in different cities and what each one provides.

Still, all reviews should do certain things.

1) Physical Description of the Club: If one has not been given within the last few months, provide how the club is laid out. How many stages? Where are they? Dark club? Lots of light? Where is the VIP room? benches? Tables? Seating on the rail? Are the bathrooms clean or nasty? it helps us to know what we are walking in to.

2) Neighborhood: Industrial? Residential? Suburban? Inner-city? Nice to know where we are going. Also, is it a safe area? Easy to find?

3) Employees (not dancers) and routines: What is the door people like? some let you go in and out to your car and other don't. Do they use bracelets? Stamps? Are the waitresses nice or are they pushy? Do they search you upon entry (that caught me by surprise once in Philly)? pat down? Wand? does the bounces watch the dancers and customers for touching? if so, are they nice about it? Juice bar? BYOB? Full bar? Are the bar drinks good or watered down?

4) Dancers: How many and how do they look (remember, your 10 might be my 6 and vice versa, so be more descriptive and not number based). Friendly? flirty? Stand offish? Do they spend time with the customers or gather in their little posses. Where is the best place to sit to get dancers to see you, or, where do you sit to get the most privacy.

5) Dances: let us know if they are air dances, one way contact? two way contact? Describe the basic dance and the price...I don't need all the personal details, just what am I getting. How much for the dance? Nude? topless? Bikini? Do dancers give better contact depending on the amount of clothing?

Each time I go to a city I want to visit clubs and TUSCL is my base research. we all need your reviews and all the important details so we know where to, and not to, go. A rating is not enough, they are often slanted by too many 18 year olds who got their first topless touch and gave the place a 10 when it was really a 6.

Remember, everyone, YMMV, so look for several reviews that say the same thing to get an idea about what your really getting.
Good points you raised. Some of the reviews are a little thin in the thoroughness department. It's interesting how ratings vary substantially from reviewer to reviewer for the same clubs. For example, I want good looking dancers who put out. That is what I look for but others, obviously, may not be into that and are just looking for a good time and to have a few drinks.

With some of the higher rated clubs I wonder really how good are the dances. Some reviewers are not aware of what is available and commonplace at many clubs but very scarce at others.

While I don't think intimate details need to be given it would seem appropriate to indicate if the dances are hands-on or very satisfying. Personally, If a dancer allows touching I don't necessarily consider that a high-mileage dance.

What might be considered a higher-mileage club in a conservative area could really be a lower-mileage club when compared to more liberal areas.
This is an excellent article with some good points. I agree that some of the reviews have ben VERY thin lately, which makes me question whether these posters actually visited the clubs at all. Also seeing a lot more one post wonders with high ratings for the club, leading me to believe that there has been an increase in shill traffic lately.

Thanks for the article.

Founder has enough content coming his way. For many clubs, especially the better places, there's a large amount of feedback contributed already. The inertial mass exists.

For future reviews, Founder should allow each member to give a thumb's up or thumb's down to a review. I don't know how it could be done, but it would be nice for reviews receiving 80% negative feedback to be purged periodically.

I like the thumbs up and down thing, but what might also be helpful would be some type of eBay star system for people who do certain amount of reviews. By seeing someone with a "blue" star, meaning 25 reviews or more, we know this person's views carry more weight than than someone listed as "new member" who has less than five reviews.

some type of basic template might also be helpful so people could fill in the blanks. The number system is a good start, but a little to vague.
OK, I've been posting a lot of reviews lately. Honestly guys, do you think my reviews could be better, if so, what would you like me to comment on?

skeets; Good list, but I personally use that as a rough guide, rather than a checklist with items to be religiously x'ed off. I strive to answer the bottom line question of if one should go out of their way to visit club, or if one should pass, even if it's a block away from hotel. I focus my review more on # 4 & 5 (dancers and dances), touch briefly on some highlights of #1-3. Really, are most people going to drive out of their way just because a club has plush seating, or Macy's right next door?

If someone throws info in about the make and model of the club it can be helpful. It's good to know what clothes would look the part in particular club or town. Agree it's a combination of things that makes a review useful or not.
IMHO, it all starts with founder's rules:
<a href="[view link] />
However, I agree with pretty much everything that's stated in this article...nice job...

----------------------------------------------

"For future reviews, Founder should allow each member to give a thumb's up or thumb's down to a review. I don't know how it could be done, but it would be nice for reviews receiving 80% negative feedback to be purged periodically."

This actually isn't a bad idea. I've seen some websites that have a "Was this review useful? Yes or No." button that, if used properly, added something to the process.

It's always easy enuff to just click on a user's name to see how many reviews they have.

I too like the thumbs up/down, helpful/unhelpful idea, as long as every user is limited to one vote per review. It'd be awful if some opinionated moron like me were to come along and give all of Dougster's reviews a thousand thumbs down votes.

The star idea intriguing, but probably more work than it's worth for this type of site.
Things I hate in reviews.

Wrtitng in texting shorthand. It is fine when you have a limited keyboard and screen, but come on.

Writing in ghetto style jargon. fine for verbal communication, but we are interested in the club, not you showing off your street cred.

"it has the kind of stage I like" or "she has the kind of body I like". And what is that?

No or incomplete mention of money "gave her my usual tip and left satisfied". Ok, one of the main thing that a reader of a review is wondering is how much money might I need to have a similar experience at this club. I know that there is a concern about leaving a written accusation of prostitution, in which case at least give an idea of the total spent at the club.

Details that are clearly wrong. for example a recent review of the Tropical Lei in Upland said 'nestled in the foothills" when it is next to the airport and 'there is no VIP when several other reviewers specifically mentioned the VIP prices. If you are going to fabricate a review at least do your research.

I've been omitting club details that are the same for previous reviewers, but I really should check the dates of the reviews before I assume. I haven't been specific about money, figuring that the "value rating" score I gave it would be enough. I'll stop that and give the $ from now on; thanks, inno123. There is one club that I seem to be the only reviewer for. Some of the tips in this thread will go into my next review for it.
