Under 21 and want to go to a strip club? Here's how

So you're 18 and want to go to a strip club, you say? You have some options. Here's how to go to a stripclub if you are under the age of 21, and what to expect.

Finding a club

If a club serves alcohol in the US, it's going to be an over-21 club. Club owners don't want to mess with policing underage drinking on top of the other stuff they have going on.

The key to finding a club if you are 18 is looking for a club that doesn't have a liquor license. Some of these clubs call themselves "juice bars," so searching for a juice bar near you may be an easy way for you to find what you're looking for.

Laws regarding nudity in clubs vary from state to state. If the clubs right around you are 21 and over, check a neighboring state if you're anywhere near a state border. Some states don't permit the same levels of nudity in clubs that serve alcohol. If those clubs don't serve alcohol, they probably let people under 21 in.

Finally, the clubs in big cities are often 21 and over, but the clubs in college towns may be 18+ because so many college students aren't 21 yet and they don't want to ignore that market. So doing some research on the college towns near you may pay off.

What to wear

Don't wear jeans to a strip club. They aren't comfortable for the girls to rub up against. Wear a clean pair of khakis and a dry-fit shirt. That way you look approachable and your clothes are soft enough that she'll be willing to grind during a lapdance and you'll have a better time.

Rules

Let's talk about rules for a minute. Rules vary from club to club and enforcement can even vary within the club. When you come in and pay your cover, the bouncer will tell you the rules. Expect some variation of no touching the girls on the stage. If you get a lapdance, there will be rules about that too. The most important thing to remember is the rules are there so the girls feel safe. Above all else, be respectful and don't make the girls feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

How much money to bring

If you're under 21, you're probably not swimming in cash. I can tell you from experience you'll have a lot more fun on $150 or $200 than on $100, so if you need to save a little longer to go, it's worth it. Bring the cash with you. The club will have an ATM, but the service fee on it will be ridiculous. Don't use that ATM.

Do some research on the club and budget accordingly. Some clubs have free parking and some don't. Most clubs will have a cover charge, so factor in the cover charge. Most under-21 clubs also have a drink minimum. Don't be surprised if you have to pay more than $5 for a six-ounce plastic cup of soda and have to keep a nearly full drink on you at all times. You may very well be looking at $20 just to get in the door. Between TUSCL and the club's own site, you can get a pretty good idea of the cover charge, cost of parking, and cost of drinks.

Expect to tip the dancers $3-$9 per song. You'll see more if you go up to the stage and tip her rather than lurking at the tables in the back. When she comes near you, look at her as you hold out the money. If she poses for you, set the money down on the stage next to her and enjoy the view. If she stretches her garter or panties toward you, place the money inside without copping a feel. Be polite and don't worry about being nervous. Strippers actually like shy and nervous guys because they're more likely to follow the rules.

Last and most important, budget some money for lapdances. They can vary in price from $20 to $40 depending on the club, the level of nudity, and the amount of contact.

Figure out how much you'll need to get in, for around 30 minutes at the stage, and 2-4 lapdances, then bring that amount of money. $1 and $20 bills are the most useful, but having at least a few $5 or $10 bills can be useful, either for tipping after dances, or in case certain types of dances aren't a multiple of $20. Get around $30 in singles, $30 in fives, and the rest in 20s. The bartender can break large bills for you when you get your drink, if needed.

Getting a lapdance

When you're tipping a girl onstage, if you like what you see and think you want a lapdance with her, just ask her if you can talk to her about a lapdance. She'll come find you after her set, unless she has something already going on. Even if she has something going on, she'll probably tell you when she expects to be free.

If you're too shy to do that, don't worry. After her stage show, she'll go around asking guys if they want a lapdance. If there's more than one guy at the stage, they usually ask the shy, quiet, nervous guys first. The theory is a shy and nervous guy is less likely to say no, and less likely to break the rules.

If you're not at the stage and a girl is coming around to the tables away from the stage on her tip walk, you can ask her too. She's probably tipwalking because no one at the stage took her up on a lapdance, so she'll probably be open to a lapdance with you.

Before you go into the lapdance area, she'll talk to you about the cost of the dance and the rules. There will be rules about how and where you can touch her, and how and where she'll touch you. Before going back there, make sure you're clear on everything.

Touch her where she says you can, and ask her what she likes. She's there to make money more than to have fun, but if she's enjoying it, you'll enjoy it more.

If you're nice, polite, respectful, and follow the rules, she may relax the rules a bit. Wait for her to initiate. Don't be alarmed if she does this, she's not trying to get you in trouble. She's paying you a compliment.

Start with one dance, and if you enjoy the dance, tip her a little extra if you have the budget to do so, and ask for a second dance.

The reason you'll have more fun on $150 or $200 than on $100 is because with a $100 budget, you probably won't have enough for more than two lap dances.

Saying no

There may be times when a girl will ask you if you want a lapdance, and for whatever reason, you'd rather not. Don't say "Maybe later" unless you really mean you'll want one from her later. If you're not interested, just say, "No thanks, I'm good," and leave it at that.

The best advice for an 18-year-old is to travel outside the US and visit legal brothels or massage parlors available everywhere throughout the world in excellent quality and for cheap prices. Outside the horrible US, sexual outlets are commonplace and good quality and available to anyone over 18. Even Canada, not to mention Mexico or Europe, would be a vast improvement over the US. Canada continues to have good massage parlors with attractive women (unlike the US which no longer does) and they're quite cheap. All other sexual services are also legal and available, unlike in the US, and nowhere near as expensive. Europe has brothels in every city and so does Asia and Latin America. Both cheap and high-quality. So the best advice for an 18-year-old is, travel outside the US as much as you can!
