@Jimmy, Biden has approved a single waiver of the Jones Act but otherwise backed it and spoken out in support of it as a "Buy American" law. According to the WaPo, the unions (especially the AFL-CIO) are the big obstacle. By the way, where's Paternity Leave Pete on all this?

@BCH, Biden isn't off the hook for the supply shortages either. He needs to rescind the Jones Act that prohibits non-US carriers from transporting goods between US ports. Of course that would piss off his union buddies, but I think benefiting all of America would be worth it. As far as spending, it's compounded by the lying about it. Calling that bundle of Dem priorities and green energy giveaways an "Inflation Reduction Act" is a blatant lie. Thank you for being honest about the effects of spending on inflation. By the way, it may be true that inflation is a global phenomenon. But it's on the Democrat-led American government to fight it in America. What are they doing to materially fight inflation? I can think of many things they're doing to make it worse and few they're doing to make it better. It says something that they're busy trying to spin it--I see articles from Dem media subsidiaries saying inflation and recession are "actually good for America."

Highest homicide rate of any state - Mississippi at 20.5/100,000 But crime policies are set at the _city_ level, and blue cities are carrying the crime rate. Let's look at some blue cities within red states St. Louis at 88.1 New Orleans at 51 Detroit at 49.7 Memphis at 44.4 Cleveland at 42.2 Kansas City at 35.2

I expect my hardcore liberal state to elect Democrats to all state offices and the House, but I see just as many signs for the Republican gubernatorial candidate as the Democrat. It's definitely a red year. As is characteristic of wave elections, I'm seeing late polls all break in the same direction. I expect any Senate race where the GOP is up or within 2 points to break Republican. What should concern Democrats is that they actually have a friendly Senate map this year. 2024 they're defending seats in Trump states. On top of that, if shit doesn't improve and Dems don't do serious soul searching after their loss., voters are going to blame the Dem president rather than the GOP Congress--GOP is going to say "hey, we need our own man in the Oval Office in order to pass our agenda" which will add to their 2024 momentum. Strong 2022 + strong 2024 could equal a filibuster-proof majority. THEN the GOP agenda will be tried and judged. Dems felt their wild oats after 2020. Went hard left, when the only reason they won the Senate was because Trump encouraged Georgia voters to protest the runoff and stay home. I never liked or felt a thrill up my leg about Obama, but he was a generational political talent who managed to align people within a progressive-ish vision. However, he wasn't a particularly effective law-passer--he played the game on "easy mode" (with 60 Dem senators) and still only got one major legislative achievement (the ACA), and Republicans ripped the guts out of it over the years. Fact is, America just isn't a progressive country. Dems are hostage to the most progressive fifth of their party that contributes most of their dollars and energy. And allergic to self-reflection. Personally, my first priority is taking power out of the hands of Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer. I'll vote for whomever stops the extravagant spending, prosecutes criminals, stops the flow of illegals and fentanyl over the border, supports freedom of speech, and stands against the chemical and surgical castration of psychologically-hurting children.

@gamma, I was talking about the "blonde" archetype. Scandinavian women have the reputation, but for every bombshell I've seen, there were a dozen mousy ass Greta's. (I know, CJ would spray his shorts over that.) Finnish women are close to Lithuanians in that Baltic more than Germanic stock, and are pretty hot too. You can see the Spanish influence in lighter-skinned Latinas, that's why they just don't age. Couldn't tell you about French or Italian guys, never dated them :) Italian guys have the rep of being immature, whiny mama's boys. There aren't a lot of Russians in Boston, so I have little firsthand experience dating them. From my friends' experiences, I can see where the "hustler" came from. They see Russian men as useless alcoholics and want to make sure their man isn't a slacker or a pussy. Or they're used to providing for themselves by any means necessary. I don't think they're as gorgeous as most guys do. A lot of them have funky faces to me. Even Dostoevsky talked about Russian beauty fading quickly. They don't age well. If you want a blonde bombshell, look for a Lithuanian woman. I've never met one who wasn't hot.
