The carburetors either need rebuilding or replacing. For Chrysler products(Dodge) many of their 318 v-8 engines need a double pumped carburetor to keep up with the higher compression since they can run at a higher rpm. Your carburetor needs attention, and a double injector can spray the fuel better than a drippy old carb.
You should know better on those older Chrysler motors. Their higher rpm capacity makes them sought after from dirt track racers for years. Gummed up carb is the most common problem on their motors. Watch my special coming up on HBO towards the end of fall!!
