OT: Jobs
"What are some jobs that you can make at least 60K, it's not wear and tear on your body, and not a lot of school is required?" I used to want to be an Occupational Therapist and have shadowed and volunteered under many health professions, it sounds like all you want is something with little wear and tear. When I was volunteering at the hospital in the hand management clinic, it was mostly OT's, however they did have one PT there and she was telling me she loved hand therapy and have not did PT work in years. The therapist there pretty much sat all day and would use tools to help increase range of motion in the patience hand. Pretty neat, but a little on the boring side for me.This would allow you to use the degree you have already work hard for and cuts going back to school, and your yearly salary should remain close to what it already is.

The "Do you want to dance" thing
Subraman hit it with this statement, "don't complain about the girls, complain about your incredibly bad choice in clubbing times" , he touched what I did not think to say. There is a club near me that gets so packed it gets up to about 300 or more patrons with 40-60 dancers. The dancer quality is outstanding at this club, and this strip club happens to be an after hours hang out spot for every club in the city. My male friends who frequent strip clubs a lot avoid visiting during this time and normally go else where, visit earlier, or during weekday. Go when it is not too super busy and problem solved. From a dancers perspective if every girl got one dance from every single patron in this club (300), at average 4 min/song and $10/lap dance. Thats 1200 minutes (20 hours) dancing which is not possible and $3000 dollars that could potentially be made without extra tips and VIP's. Dancers at this club simply don't have the time to have long conversations during this time, when it is so much money to be made.

The "Do you want to dance" thing
As a dancer, I have approached customers with the "wanna dance" line and I have also engaged in rather interesting conversations as well. The difference in my deliverance depends on a multitude of things, with the type of club and the level of busyness being the top factor. Types of club can range from hole in the wall to upscale, white patrons, mix patrons, black patrons etc. Busyness can range from slow (more dancers than customers), moderate (same amount of dancers as customers), busy (slightly more customer than dancers), packed from shoulder to shoulder (many more customers than dancers). When I am playing the customer roll, I did not find it annoying when I was out with friends and the club was packed that 5 dancers in like 10 min. asked "do I want a dance," however, in a club that was less crowded it it always refreshing to talk to the dancers.

This club is praised because it has best selection in PG county and variety. It is the hangout spot when people leave the clubs, and as you saw it gets packed in there.

I have one word for this...
I would of checked out this place, but rumor has it. It is a lot of soliciting for prostitution in this joint from dancers and patrons and I am not with it. I pulled up to this club, peeped through the door and never went in.

First and foremost this review is...
Yes, I have but it is a lot of soliciting for sex out there, and I hear about it in the dressing room at other clubs. Plus, I went to visit the place and it was to hood looking.

Ultimately, I will probably end up going back to my first club. It was upscale, camera's in every VIP room and security outside the door just in case something happen that made the dancers uncomfortable.

My Life As A Strip Club Manager
Good article Triple_threat, After reading the comments, I would also like to know whether you are male or female and whether the club you work for is upscale or not? Men typically do not over-use emoticons (ex. :) ;)...) in their writings, unless they are talking to another female.

Chapter One of Memoirs of a Dancer
@rogertex, I think you couldn't be anymore right when you said "If you are mainly doing it for money (to pay college) - it's not worth it." it really is not my thing, that probably explains why I only do it once in a blue moon (during school breaks). My good friends just think it is a quick passing phase. It probably will be for me, haha! One correction, I am not in medical school. Most people assume that because of residency, but residency is for once I graduate a MSW program, 3,000 hours is needed to become licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), so I can work independently and open up my own practice. As far as a my potential as a writer, thats the first. I actually dislike writing, but many social science degrees require lots of writing, especially my intended master's program. When I am writing for and audience I will always put my best foot forward (maybe pen in this case) even if it is for a strip club site.

Chapter One of Memoirs of a Dancer
@assbestos this article was written about 6 weeks ago, I do not know what took the founder so long to post it. That is correct all the clubs I have chooses to review are black venues. My first club was white and I chooses not to review the place because I may perhaps go back. Many managers and dancers use this site, I like to be honest with my reviews and being I had photos of myself up, until founder decided to put on temporary leave, I do not want to damage anything good I have with a club I like. I still as of now do not do extras, I would actually prefer my next club to have camera's in VIP like my first club because it makes me feel safer and helps prevent extras. The first club I was at the ladies got fined almost $1200 for performing sexual acts, if they got caught. I have only danced at one white club and visited one, I have also visited one black venue in DC and another one near DC thats mixed (which I kinda mention in one of my reviews). I said, " I first auditioned at a semi-upscale club 3.5 hours away from my home/school...but to my dismay it was for dayshift. WHOMP! WHOMP! WHOOOOMP! Being a new dancer, I was cool with it at first, but then after the first day fully dancing, I said to myself this is not that hard, and driving almost 4 hours to be on dayshift with the grandma’s of the club making barely little was not worth it. So that is when I decided to hop around different clubs in Maryland." That club was not in MD, there are 3 other clubs I have choose not to review. I decided to visit black venues in PG because I have a friend that live somewhat close and she used to dance and make pretty decent. However, me and her look very different. I also said, "I prefer white/mix upscale clubs and the reason is an article within its-self, that I plan on writing about at a later date and time. " When I decide to write that article I will give more details of my preference.

Chapter One of Memoirs of a Dancer
Thanks everyone and to answer your question PC, it really depends on the club. Sometimes the dancers are the worst and sometimes the customers are the worst, but like any work place where there are many different personalities there is going to be some level of drama. For myself, I think customers because they can get very crazy and demanding at times. I will say I never met really weird people until I started dancing. Customers with their weird fantasies and females with there immoral behaviors. For example, I met a dancers that purposely fart on men, many that steal from men and do all types of obscene stuff, rubbing there herpes outbreaks over curtsies and all types of stuff which I plan on writing an article about.

Dating a Stripper
You said, “I have met a lot of other strippers and considered starting a relationship so my take on this that many of them are wounded people to begin with. Also, they have grown up trading sex for intimacy and money.” Seeing this from the inside, I must say sadly many dancers are wounded people, but not all, but going to a strip club thinking you will find a wife is like going to a gold mine thinking you will find a diamond. It is possible, but highly unlikely. As a dancer, we are suppose to sell a fantasy, not the actual goods, however as adults, I understand feelings may arise especially if you have a customer that you see on the regular and there is a mutual attraction and connection. However, as you stated it is always best to keep business….BUSINESS! That saying should not apply to the strip club scene either, any business. I see first hand what happens when relationships in the office go sour. It is never pretty.
