My Life As A Strip Club Manager

Sunday, July 13, 2014 12:00 AM
Ever stopped and asked yourself this question? "What the fuck is wrong with me?" I find myself asking that same question usually on a daily basis lol I guess it's the challenge that comes with running a strip club that I still find myself ready to take full on. I've encountered, witnessed, and dealt with things that most people couldn't even imagine possibly happening. Then again, there's that excitement that strings me along for the ride. I've always been a fan of roller coasters after all :) When I first started I had NO idea how a strip club was managed or run. I was also nervous as shit that I would easily fuck up or that the Dancers, Bouncers, Djs, Waitresses, Bartenders, and of course other Managers would hate me for whatever reason just because I was new and didn't know shit about running a strip club. So you're probably wondering how the fuck did my ass end up getting this kind of position? Well... It kinda just fell into my lap ;) I didn't know anybody that worked there or even thought I'd be a manager! I actually went in to try to help promote the club in any way I could. My resume and management experience is what got the owner saying "fuck all that, bring me a proposal on what you'll do for the club and we'll talk." Sooo I did, and just like that I'm hired!? I still remember celebrating that night...well actually I forgot most of it lol. My first day on the job was definitely intense as fuck. I had all eyes on me and I found out that same day that almost every bouncer wanted my position. Some with 5 even 10+ years experience! And here I come out of nowhere taking that shit....I could see why I wasn't very liked at the time. To earn the respect from the dancers and bouncers was one of the biggest challenges I faced. I knew it wouldn't happen overnight, so I had to really begin to think on my toes on how to approach every situation I was dealing with. We all know how hard it is to deal with a woman (sorry ladies) lol but dealing with a lot of different women with a lot of different feelings, emotions, issues, and personalities is a completely different ball game! The girls are and ALWAYS will be the most important thing about the club for obvious reasons. Imagine walking into an ice cream shop with NO ice cream....a strip club with no girls is nothing but a lonely bar. The girls are what makes or breaks a club (insert fat ass period here) In the beginning it was hard for me to understand why any sane person would give out hundreds and hundreds of dollars to a stripper and not get anything but some tits in your face and a hard case of blue balls...but then I realized that it's the actual "fantasy" that they buy into! Sure some girls actually cross the line into giving it up for money outside the club, however the real hustlers that I know that make insane amounts of cash do it without having to resort to sex. Since this world was new to me I knew I had to quickly learn all the industry tricks and secrets as much as I could. Not just for myself, but to help the girls as well. One of the most important things I've learned and I hope EVERY manager understands is this...of course I have to exaggrate what I'm about to say so here we go: NEVER FUCK THE DANCERS! Immediate career ender no matter how tempted you get. To this day I've been able to keep my dick in my pants and I advise all new or current managers to do the same. Yes I know it's tempting....I basically get asked out every day or grabbed innapropriately or invited to threesomes or almost being raped or... well you get the idea lol It also doesn't help that I'm the only single manager at the club which makes the attention nice, but not allowing it to interfere or distract from the job at hand is where thinking with your ACTUAL head and not the one down there comes in. I've had this one girl tell me once that if I don't take her to the movies or have sex with her then she will fuck with me and blackmail me for something I didn't do.....ya talk about peer pressure lol Oh and yes she was serious....wasn't a joke. Anyway, let's fast forward to now where I've already had my fair share of dancer drama, customer/employee issues, fights, legal matters, gunshots, cars being set on fire and/or smashed, drug related issues (what a shocker right?), sexual acts, underage drinking, drunk asses, and the list goes on and on... Every situation is different. Every day is different. Every one is different. I never know what will happen next or who will walk into those doors. The girls love me and my employees do as well but that's not to say I haven't had any problems myself. It's important to find the right balance where you don't allow them (whether it be the girls or staff) to walk all over you but at the same time you can't treat them however you want just because you are in that position. Being a dick or asshole won't get you far and in fact can easily back fire on you causing you to lose respect from the girls. They won't want to work your shifts or even at the club. There was time when I was talking to the DJ about a song I wanted to hear (I was off shift) and one of the dancers came up to m drunk as fuck and told me..."Move the fuck out of the way." I don't let my own mother talk to me like that so of course I won't let some drunk girl talk to me that way, so my response was "No, if you need to talk to the DJ you can go around me." Of course she didn't take that well and said "I'll punch you in the face! you're nobody and there will be another manager after you, but I'll still be here!" So I said "Go ahead and do it." She then hit me in the face....repeatedly lol I took it like Oscar De La Hoya and just started laughing. We had her escorted out and to this day she's been 86. Which for those that don't know what that means...it means she can no longer step foot in that club unless I say she can. A small example of how you should not reward bad behavior but instead punish those that cause it. Doing so will then have a chain reaction to show others how doing something you shouldn't do (like punch a manager in the face) will result in consequences. Same applies to drug users, prostitutes, and problem causing girls that we as managers have to deal with on a consistent basis. Of course not all girls behave or act this way, just like not all managers are fucking the girls. There are plenty of great well educated drug/disease free girls in this industry and most of them don't get the respect that they deserve. Just because a girl takes off her clothes for money DOES NOT mean she's any less of a person or that she should be looked down upon. Absolutely not, these girls really do work hard for their money and I personally know exactly what they go thru since I talk to them EVERY single day. What can I say being a good listener comes in handy ;) I'm still managing my club and learning something new every day, I'll try to post something new often enough (if not every day) about life as a strip club manager....these may include whatever issues, drama, concerns, questions, opinions, etc. that I'll be encountering and making decisions on. This is my way of keeping a journal lol Feel free to ask or share anything with me, I might not be able to answer everything or right away but I'll definitely try! Thanks for taking the time to read my post and I wish everyone the best in whatever they do! Whether you dance, bounce, DJ, waitress, manage, or sell locos tacos at taco bell...sorry I'm fucking hungry and I don't know why that popped in my head haha Until next time! -Triple_Threat

This is sweet to read. I has befriended an ex-ATF who is no longer in the business, and she would provide the inside scoop on what was happening inside the club with the other girls, dj, and managers. She recently stopped dating the dj because of jealousy and needed someone she could trust to confide in all the shit shows she had witnessed. Needless to say I had a blast chatting with her, and soon realized I should never believe anything a dancer tells me. Also I heard stuff that made it clear to keep everything ITC and do not do VIPs. Girls are downright evil and dirty. I still go but am very cautious, and I too am suckered into wondering what type of excitement is going on in the club. Girls rubbing their herpes on customers and then bragging about it was disturbing. Also knowing who the drug dealers are and all their cronies helped me stay away from certain dancers. I was amazed at how LE was bribed to look the other way when it came to drugs and prostitution, and how money controls every situation. I've vowed to never date a stripper because of the edgemacation I got from my ex-ATF turned civilian. Please keep posting more tales my friend. I will be looking forward to it triple T!

"NEVER FUCK THE DANCERS!" What? That's the only reason I would want to manage a strip club.

jack- LOL! Let me first say that this was a great article and very well written. Now, let me get to my comments and questions. So triple_threat...the dancers really come on to you THAT often huh? That's interesting. On one had I find it a bit surprising, but on the other I guess it's not because if a girl is a dancer, she's probably not a shy person. And if a girl is a dancer, I'd also operate under the assumption that she's probably more likely to engage in casual sex. So I guess that explains why they come on to you so often. One other thing...I've also wondered how a strip club manager, DJ or bouncer can get use to seeing all those naked, beautiful women on a regular basis? I've never understood that. I guess, like anything else, you just get use to it after a while. With that said, I'm sure you can understand where I'm coming from.

Thanks for posting an interesting article. Curious. What area of the country do you work in? Be as specific as you're comfortable with. Know the former SC manager and now blogger StripClubHound worked in SoCal. How about you?

I concur. Great article, but you would do well to put in a few more paragraph breaks. The website joker is referring to is: [view link] That's a great blog. Hope yours will be as well!

As a former floor host/security. The managers at the sc's I worked at would fuck the strippers. Believe it or not this is a common thing in sc's

I know of one club where the owners take dancers into their office, smoke pot with them and then pay them for sex. I believe this to be true because I have heard the story from 3 dancers that have done it.

Writing about fucking the dancers for a manager: [view link] When Flint first opened his clubs in Southern Ohio, he was banging one dancer every 4 to 6 hours, 24/7, never even getting a full night’s sleep. In part he was reacting against the horrible marriage he had just barely survived. My take on this has always been, that when it is 2 or 3 women, they get hostile. But when it is 8 or more, then it is, “When do I get my turn?” This is how Flint built his clubs. But when he got to 8 clubs, say each with a roster of 30, and with him passing age 35 and wanting to slow down, then he could no longer fuck each of them at least once per month, and so it started to work against him. At first his clubs all made money. But then they started to lose money. Fucking them probably put him closer to them, and so he could talk to them about things he couldn’t otherwise. He could be blunt with them too. But when there were too many of them, this didn’t work anymore. Also, the girls burn out and age. If you are fucking them, it is hard to crack the whip or replace them. Flint got tired of the clubs and instead wanted to publish a magazine. So he let his girlfriend and former dancer Althea take over. He would send her into the worst money sink of a club and she would turn it around until it was the biggest money maker. Finally he put her in charge of all of the clubs. Althea didn’t fuck them, but she did not hesitate to fire people either. From having read TUSCL for some time now, I would listen to what Shadowcat says over and above anybody else. My own limited observation from the clubs in my area is that it would only be a small minority of dancers who would be fucking managers or other staff. It would be the dancers who would make it go that way, not the managers. These would be looked down upon by the others. [view link] Jim Hubner writes about Jim and Artie Mitchell and their early days. Jim was all business and would not generally fuck dancers. Artie was the clown, and he fucked all of them, and it was not necessarily always consensual. He would always be going into the dressing room and offering drugs and helping himself. Ten one of them turned around and beat him up with her high heels. In the late 70’s the brothers and the girls saw themselves as leading a sexual revolution, providing education to the repressed business travelers coming from other states. So Artie in the dressing room was just to be expected. Dancer disapproval of Artie is what led to the opening of the second lap dancing club, the New Century. But this was all now over 30 years ago. It is not just in the SC business. In general a boss should never have an affair with an employee. Never turns out well.

"OP – just curious – are you a girl or a guy? For w/e reason; you give me the vibe you are a chick" lol! I get a vibe that he's a fake. Clearly not writing from experience. Probably just an ordinary PL who thinks being an SC manager would be awesome and has stung together a few commonplace thoughts about the industry.

Good article Triple_threat, After reading the comments, I would also like to know whether you are male or female and whether the club you work for is upscale or not? Men typically do not over-use emoticons (ex. :) ;)...) in their writings, unless they are talking to another female.

Very interesting. I've often wondered, as a man, what it would be like to work at/manage a strip club. Thanks.

[view link] A phenomenal book about Jim and Artie Mitchell and the origins of lap dancing and the legal battles which ensued. Jim and Artie owned the club, and being brothers they also protected each other. So they had lots of power. But a more typical situation was that experienced by the male staff who worked at the club. One of the dancers dubbed them eunuchs. They were not like the owner Artie who was taking liberties with them. They were not like the customers who were feeding them money. So the dancers considered if they should do something for these eunuchs. One of them finally said, "I'm not fucking them." I consider it a big mistake to work in any environment where women are being held up as sex symbols and also making more money than you. It is self abuse pure and simple. So no, I would never want to work in a strip club, or in any venue like that. Being the owner possibly, but not in any other capacity. FWIW, Hunter S. Thompson was for a while a manager for the Mitchell Brothers. SJG

Thanks for the feedback guys! Really appreciate, and sorry I haven't been more attentive to this, been exhausted as fuck! I'll start by answering some questions I saw. Yes I am a male manager and the strip club I manage is located in the U.S. (Southwestern part) My club is a topless club where we serve alcohol. States vary on the liquor laws but in our state a topless club can serve alcohol and a full nude club cannot. So these last few days have been interesting...First I find one of my bouncers in the manager's restroom bleeding and both his feet covered in a huge pool of blood! Apparently one of his ulcers erupted on his leg and the blood didn't stop pouring out, I made a joke about it after saying I didn't know he was a squirter until then! lol Had to call the ambulance and get him taken to the hospital, he's good now but damn that was a lot of blood! I also found a bag of coke that same night dropped by a customer. We search everyone but in this industry they will always find ways to get drugs in. We try to keep it out as much as possible and when we find the dancers or staff doing it we immediately them go. Then yesterday we had a coustomer that tried to pay one of my dancers with fake ass money! She told him that she's not taking his fake money and he said well your tits are fake...she told him that if he doesn't pay her she'll break his teeth where he will have to get fake teeth with his fake ass money. He paid up lol. I didn't even know that happened until after he left, people these days. Anyway, I'll be on here a lot more often (promise) so if you have any questions or commments I'll try to do my best to answer! Talk to you guys soon

Oh and yes after seeing naked girls almost everyday you defitinely get used to it. I also don't get impressed that easily so I'm one of those managers that has higher expectations when hiring the girls.

Does your club use DJs? I'm wondering what's the best way for a noob to get a job as a strip club DJ. The only thing I've heard so far is that "you have to know somebody" but that doesn't do me any good. I've read the complaints from strippers in another thread, and I think I'd be a lot better than some of those clowns who hog the mic instead of letting customers focus on the girls.

Thanks bigpoppa, and yes my club does have DJs. You don't always have to know somebody to get involved in the industry. I honestly didn't know ANYONE at the club I work at before, and yet I still became a manager instantly. So, your best bet is to always try to get in touch with those that actually run the club and try to get to know the managers/owners then make a proposal for them if possible. Really show them that you're not juts some noob or whatever (basically impress them) and maybe then they will give you a shot at being a DJ for the club. Let them try you out if possible and then continue to impress them. The whole thing about DJ at the club is it has it's ups and downs for the girls. Sometimes for the managers/owners as well. For example I would personally take home more money for myself if our DJ didn't get some of the percentage we collect. However, having a DJ helps with my club to run smooth as well as announce drink/dance specials. We get very busy so having that extra help is important for us (my club at least). I can't complain about our DJS they do a hell of a job. Nothing to special to report on about tonight other than there was a hit and run right outside our club tonight which caused media attention and cops all around. So ya that didn't really help our business, just happy it wasn't a customer that just left our club. Two regualars got into it with eachother last night as well but we acted quickly and broke up the fight then had them escorted out. Good times! We'll see what tomorrow brings, later!

After flaming out on SW posting this, OP now comes on here. One poster pointed out several of his phrases were lifted from a prior website. Male and female posters (seasoned dancers and clubgoers) like Chandler here were skeptical about the originality of this. So am I.
