Chapter One of Memoirs of a Dancer

Friday, June 27, 2014 12:00 AM
The Very First Time How did I get here? I come from a loving and supporting family, I am mentally stable and I do not do any type of drugs, besides an occasional glass of sweet wine when I am out at social gatherings. I say this because I have two distant family members that are dancers and one is bi-polar (not medicated) with more drama than a soap opera and the other one has serious daddy issues and these type of women are what people assume as typical attributes of exotic dancers. I ponder upon my decision to dance or not to dance for about a year, during this time I visited a few clubs as a customer to get a feel of what the atmosphere was like, and to my surprise it was not threatening at all, my first observation was it is just a bunch of women in the buff socializing and dancing, with a few nude acrobats thrown into the mix. As for me I love being nude, and I know I am relatively attractive with a nice physique, but it is a whole different animal being nude in front of an audience of strangers. However, money potential of course was my ultimate reason for even considering dancing, because the thought of potentially paying off college loans I will obtain during the last couple of years of finishing my higher education and the thought of being able to save money to start my own practice after residency made dancing even more appealing. Further more, as I was looking for work hours away from home, it became challenging as I am a full time student and have barely enough time for anything else. I started doing my research online and that is when I discovered TUSCL. At the time, the reviews on TUSCL really helped me decide on which club I would like to work at and for the most part the reviews on this site are very accurate to what the club is like before you even step into the building. I first auditioned at a semi-upscale club 3.5 hours away from my home/school. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon, filled out a basic application, and then was told to get on stage. During the audition I had to perform a 3 song set, which eventually led me to be fully nude by the end of the set. A veteran dancer of this club went on with me because I was so nervous my heart palpitations felt as if they were running a sprint at 1000 miles per hour. Some people even had the nerve to ask, why were you so nervous? Well it is not everyday I have complete strangers within arms reach of my pretty kitty in the buff. Finally, after the longest 9 to 10 minutes of my life, it was over and boom I was hired, but to my dismay it was for dayshift. WHOMP! WHOMP! WHOOOOMP! Being a new dancer, I was cool with it at first, but then after the first day fully dancing, I said to myself this is not that hard, and driving almost 4 hours to be on dayshift with the grandma's of the club making barely little was not worth it. So that is when I decided to hop around different clubs in Maryland. However, once I find the perfect club for me I will settle, so that gives me all summer break to search. I prefer white/mix upscale clubs and the reason is an article within its-self, that I plan on writing about at a later date and time. All in all some people think dancing is easy, fast money. That can be very true and very false. There are new girls, according to the manager and my observation, that come walking through that door thinking they will make an easy couple of thousands, which hurts them when reality sets in and you leave with very little. Some people don't know that at most clubs dancers in some way are paying the club, which is an article I will also write about because the fees associated with being a dancer can be dreadful. For example, lap dances in private are $30 at my first club, customer pays upfront and $18 goes to me $12 to the club. When I brought customers to VIP it was $165 and included 2 drinks and is 35 min, out of that I would receive $100 and club gets $65. In Maryland clubs I have been to, dancers have to pay an entrance fee just to get into the club and dance and it does not even end there, there are clubs that charge fees for taking breaks outside the club ($5-$10), and even for leaving the club early ($20) there are fees. I say this because when I tell my friends, they are in disbelief. I hope this article was somewhat helpful to customers and aspiring dancers. I will be posting more as time permits. *Smooches*

A few experienced/veteran custies have a decent understanding of the inner-workings of a strip club; but most custies; including myself; do not. I personally would find it interesting hearing about the inner workings of a club from a dancer’s POV. One question for now – what do you find more challenging – dealing w/ custies or dealing w/ other dancers? Thanks for the article.

Thanks everyone and to answer your question PC, it really depends on the club. Sometimes the dancers are the worst and sometimes the customers are the worst, but like any work place where there are many different personalities there is going to be some level of drama. For myself, I think customers because they can get very crazy and demanding at times. I will say I never met really weird people until I started dancing. Customers with their weird fantasies and females with there immoral behaviors. For example, I met a dancers that purposely fart on men, many that steal from men and do all types of obscene stuff, rubbing there herpes outbreaks over curtsies and all types of stuff which I plan on writing an article about.

JSJ: Thanks for your contribution. I noticed, what appear to be, some inconsistencies between this article and what you've written before in your reviews. I'm not saying you're lying. Perhaps you've grown and seasoned from the time you first started dancing. I'm interested to see how your thoughts have changed or progressed. You stated in this article that you prefer to work in white upscale clubs - and yet your reviews were all on black clubs in PG County. Did you just not get around to review these other white upscale clubs that you worked in? Also in one previous review you said unequivocally that you "do not do extras". Is that still true? Or was that just at an initial phase of your career, similar to the stage fright which you subsequently overcame? When you wrote about paying the club(in the first person tense) to use a VIP room, I'm thinking your attitude may have matured about extras? Thank you and looking forward to reading more from you.

@assbestos this article was written about 6 weeks ago, I do not know what took the founder so long to post it. That is correct all the clubs I have chooses to review are black venues. My first club was white and I chooses not to review the place because I may perhaps go back. Many managers and dancers use this site, I like to be honest with my reviews and being I had photos of myself up, until founder decided to put on temporary leave, I do not want to damage anything good I have with a club I like. I still as of now do not do extras, I would actually prefer my next club to have camera's in VIP like my first club because it makes me feel safer and helps prevent extras. The first club I was at the ladies got fined almost $1200 for performing sexual acts, if they got caught. I have only danced at one white club and visited one, I have also visited one black venue in DC and another one near DC thats mixed (which I kinda mention in one of my reviews). I said, " I first auditioned at a semi-upscale club 3.5 hours away from my home/school...but to my dismay it was for dayshift. WHOMP! WHOMP! WHOOOOMP! Being a new dancer, I was cool with it at first, but then after the first day fully dancing, I said to myself this is not that hard, and driving almost 4 hours to be on dayshift with the grandma’s of the club making barely little was not worth it. So that is when I decided to hop around different clubs in Maryland." That club was not in MD, there are 3 other clubs I have choose not to review. I decided to visit black venues in PG because I have a friend that live somewhat close and she used to dance and make pretty decent. However, me and her look very different. I also said, "I prefer white/mix upscale clubs and the reason is an article within its-self, that I plan on writing about at a later date and time. " When I decide to write that article I will give more details of my preference.

BTW jsj – articles tend to take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks to publish. TUSCL is a one man operation (Founder) and sometimes it takes him a while to get to certain things (e.g. publishing articles; adding new clubs; etc) – certain things like reviews are published quickly but other things usually take a while – FYI.

jsj - good write up. you've got potential as a writer - in case the medical school thing doesn't work out. yes - i've met quite a few dancers like you (i.e., pretty girl next door, no drugs, no drama). Their company itself is a pleasure that I don't mind paying for - dances are icing. with enough like you - the playboy bunny will be back - smarter, sexier with looks to die for. If you are mainly doing it for money (to pay college) - it's not worth it. You must also love being in the limelight, love being a showgirl in front of dropped jaws, and fancy the untold joys of "playing" with boys.

@rogertex, I think you couldn't be anymore right when you said "If you are mainly doing it for money (to pay college) - it's not worth it." it really is not my thing, that probably explains why I only do it once in a blue moon (during school breaks). My good friends just think it is a quick passing phase. It probably will be for me, haha! One correction, I am not in medical school. Most people assume that because of residency, but residency is for once I graduate a MSW program, 3,000 hours is needed to become licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), so I can work independently and open up my own practice. As far as a my potential as a writer, thats the first. I actually dislike writing, but many social science degrees require lots of writing, especially my intended master's program. When I am writing for and audience I will always put my best foot forward (maybe pen in this case) even if it is for a strip club site.
