The US dollar is accepted almost everywhere in Canada. These days, the Canadian dollar is almost exactly equal to the US dollar (known as "par" by traders). Merchants in general, and strip clubs in particular, want the sale and will therefore take the greenback. I wouldn't bother with dollar bills, though. The smallest bill in Canada is a $5, with $1 and $2 coins instead of bills (known as the "looney" and the "tooney," I kid you not. If you pay with a big US bill, expect change in Canadian dollars.
One time a few years back, in a strip club in Ottawa, a waitress gave me a lecture about how "stupid" greenbacks were, bever bucks being diffferent sizes and colors. She took my Benjamin right after making the remark!

Least expensive: Gatsby's Pub, Canton, Ohio, $5/song. Most expensive: Vegas, of course.

I once went to ATL after a business meeting was cancelled (non-refundable ticket) and spent the entire time at the Cheetah!

Thanks for the review. Electronman is right about the smoke--yesterday, I sat at the bar between two cigar smokers. Bleeh.

BT's was a fun place 20 years ago, and IMHO could easily return to top form, but every recent visit just reinforces the idea that the place is managed by idiots. I now avoid the club entirely on my visits to the Motor City.

Just a question--did you visit Solid Gold or the Gentlemen's Gold Club? Your description sounds more like the Gold Club, but the similar names can lead to confusion.

I visited in October, shortly after the club reopened (the special was $2 domestic beer) and had a good time. Staff and dancers were friendly. Definitely plan to return on my next trip to Motown.

I agree with the good doctor's comments. Stopped in last Friday (10/12); a fantastic value while the $2 beer special lasts. Overall, the new team is trying hard to succeed--nicely renovated facility, friendly staff, energetic (if large) dancers, all in all a good vibe. Think, blue-collar joint with dancers. Worth a visit.

My last visit to the Brass Ass was 30 years ago--it's reassuring to know it hasn't changed a bit!

FWIW, I had a good experience at Onyx on day shift (see review from April). I really liked the dancers I met and thought the vibe was pretty mellow. I'm too old to stay awake for night shift, and consequently can't comment on it.

Thanks for the comprehensive review. I'll probably wait for the club to staff up a day shift, but it's a real surprise to see a DC club come back from the dead.

The dancer you describe sounds like AJ. She's a lot of fun.

Chili, I feel you. I stopped by Band-Aids two weeks ago (Sunday, 2/25) and had a similar experience: mediocre dancers and a jerk bouncer. "Keep your hands by your side," my ass!

Detroit strip clubs
Papi, you are right about Costa Rica strip clubs. FWIW, Key Largo isn't one of them--it's a dance club owned by the Hotel del Rey. Ten years ago, there would be a lot of hot women available for various pursuits late nights at KL. OTOH, the bar at the Del Rey is open 24/7 and a sure thing for finding available women.

Accurate review. I was there the same evening and left at the end of the first quarter out of complete boredom. $10+2 cover, $7+2 parking, $2 to bathroom troll, 2x$17 whiskey, $20 VIP toll=zero fun.

Thanks. As a regular visitor to ATL and the Cheetah, you are correct about the changes on the floor post-lawsuit. Air dances enforced. Pre-suit, dances at the bar were done with the dancer on the floor (air but eye contact). Now, the dancers get up on top of the bar. Lots of regulars hang out at the bars, which may explain the dancers hanging out there.

This squares with my experience. For the non-regular, Camelot dancers can be cold as ice. Archibald's is nearby, and is a lot more fun (as long as "fun" does not include contact, which is a DC no-no.
