Military strategists are learning that new weapons have changed how wars will be fought. A 50 ton tank can be destroyed by a 50 pound personal drone.

If we really want to talk about the golden age of Arizona strip clubs, the Tucson Candy Store from about 15 years ago. Better than Mitchell Brothers at its peak but one fifth the price.

Stepping back, this nation is founded on the rule of law. The constitution specifies those rights that are inherent for everyone. These rights may not be taken away. Beyond that, the constitution lays out a legislative process that may be used to create other laws. Roe v Wade ruled that abortion was one of those essential rights specified by the constitution. I think most scholars now agree that interpretation was bullshit. While the constitution is very specific on rights like freedom of speech and freedom of religion, it says nothing about abortion. It’s up to the people, through the legislative process, to decide how abortion is treated under the law. Once Roe is overturned, each state will make that determination. That’s a perfectly appropriate way to determine this and a manner that is consistent with the constitution.

“the administration did not brag about providing the intelligence that sunk the Moskva. The NY Times story was leaked by anonymous sources.” Who were identified by the NYT as senior administration officials. So, yes, it was the administration that was doing the bragging.

Phoenix isn’t as good as 2 or 3 years ago but a good time can still be had. My previous favorite club is no longer in rotation but I found others with their own brand of fun. Good enough.

Interesting. So, everything bad that happened during JFK’s presidency was Eisenhower’s fault. And, as you’ve previously said, everything bad that has happened during Biden’s presidency is Trump’s fault. I see a pattern.

I know the reputation of JFK is that he was a brilliant foreign policy strategist but we’ve learned a lot about the Cuban Missile crisis and Bay of Pigs that show he was a reckless risk taker who cut deals with Kruschev to get himself out of a mess. Kennedy suffered health problems since childhood, and used an arsenal of drugs, including painkillers and stimulants, to treat various medical conditions during his presidency. These drugs affected his decision making.

    Layoffs are coming
For the last 10 years, tech growth stocks have dominated the market. These are companies that had huge revenue growth but never really made any profits. People piled into the stocks believing that the companies would eventually make big profits. Now, with inflation and recession looming, investors are selling these stocks and shifting to boring, stable companies with modest growth but actual profits. We are beginning to see layoffs at these tech companies. I expect a bloodbath at Twitter once Elon is in charge.

    Layoffs are coming
In some areas, a significant portion of the strip club customer base is a flash and sizzle crowd. People who live on the edge and spend more on cars, houses, vacations, and strip clubs than they can afford. During tough economic times, these customers disappear. In places like Southern California and Las Vegas, this could be significant.

In Australia, there are probably 100 sex workers in legal brothels and massage parlors for every stripper. There really aren’t a lot of strip clubs as we know them in the US.

“but now I am cautious for the time being” That’s another cause of recessions. The fear of a recession causes people to stop spending and build an emergency fund. That crushes demand for goods and services, leading to recession.

By November, abortion will no longer be an issue. The law won’t change in NY, California, or other blue states. Democrats will wonder why everyone got so worried about it in May. The abortion laws might change in Alabama or Texas but there aren’t a lot of Democrat activists in those states.

Another thing that has gotten little attention is what higher rates mean to the government’s ability to finance the national debt. Something like a trillion dollars a year will be needed. Fire up the printing presses.

Price controls have been tried, and failed, before. Rent control is a perfect example. If you put limits on rents, the number of available rentals declines. No investor/developer is going to build rentals if they can’t make money. So, for the very few who live in rent control, it’s a good deal. For the vast majority who aren’t in rent control, their only alternative is either to buy an expensive home or move out of the community.

There is only one way to stop the death spiral of stagflation. Control government spending and raise interest rates until they are higher than inflation. If we do that, as was done in the early 1980s, it will take a year or two to work our way out of it. Interest rates are currently at 2% while inflation is at 8%. Meanwhile, Biden is proposing spending trillions more. So, no, I don’t see things improving anytime soon.

Those unemployment and stimulus checks are a big part of why we are in this mess. The government spent trillions it didn’t have, which lead to historic inflation. So, sure, I wouldn’t be surprised if the corrupt morons in Washington tried again to spend our way out of inflation. If so, our current economic mess will seem like a picnic.

ICEE, you seem to think everyone has unlimited rights but no one has personal responsibility. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t have a society where everyone has a right to free stuff but no one has the responsibility to work for it.

As long as Roe guides the law, there is no limit on abortions. Partial birth abortion, where the fetus/child has its head crushed as it leaves the birth canal, is perfectly legal.

If Roe is overturned, half the states will continue to allow abortions up to 9 months and the other half will limit it to something like 12 weeks. That’s called a compromise which is what happens in the political process. So, please stop saying this will make abortion legal. Regulated, yes. Illegal, no.

“Housing was much more affordable in most metro areas “ Going back 130 years, the average value of a home has tracked the average wage. There are time periods where housing goes up faster, or slower. There are geographic regions that go up faster, or slower. But, the link between wages and house prices is strong. So, yes, house prices used to be much lower, but so were wages.
