The shooter specifically chose to exploit a weakness that New York intentionally created with their strict “may issue” (often “no issue” in practice) concealed carry permitting.
Sheriffs who won’t issue permits to anyone but the wealthy and well-connected are also to blame. The Buffalo killer lived in a small town on the New York/Pennsylvania border, closer to Philadelphia than to Buffalo. But he chose Buffalo because of New York’s stricter gun laws. New York gun control laws leave people helpless in the face of such dangers.

The most important issues for the majority of Americans are inflation, the economy, supply shortages, illegal immigration, and education. The Whitehouse desperately needs to distract our attention from these failures.

As crime spikes in Chicago, and other blue cities, arrests are down. Two reasons. Fewer cops and DAs who refuse to prosecute.
The solution ? Take guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens. That’s the ticket !

Colleges morphed into a social club. They stopped focusing on rigorous instruction and preparation for a competitive world. They marketed luxury dorms, safe spaces, indoctrination, and reliance on a dissipating reputation. You are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for a piece of paper instead of an improved mind and maturity. Students are figuring this out. So are employers.

In recent years, the majority of mass murderers were known to the FBI, which did nothing about them. If the FBI had followed up on these people, a lot of lives would have been saved.
The most effective gun control practice is stop-and-frisk at the street level, with minimum sentences. That gets guns out of the hands of criminals. But, Chicago and other blue cities prohibit this.

If you want to ban all guns, you have two options
1. Get the states to vote to eliminate the 2nd Amendment
2. Appoint 5 Justices to the Supreme Cory who are willing to ignore the Constitution

I Bonds can make sense in the right situation but there are some features to be aware of
- $10,000 maximum each year
- 30 year maturity ( no early termination penalty after 5 years )
- No dividend payouts until redeemed
- Tracks CPI, so returns will drop once inflation is under control. There could even be negative returns.

A lot of people got into bonds to diversify their investments and provide safety. If you are in a balanced fund or a targeted retirement fund, you are one of those people.
With rising interest, this has been the worst year for bonds in history. It will get worse. Your strategy didn’t work out too well.

The problem with staying on the sidelines is you usually miss out on the rapid gains when the market bounces back. Many people who time the market sell when it’s near bottom then miss a 10%-20% run up before they realize the market is in recovery.

An index fund doubles its value ( in inflation adjusted dollars ) about every 10 years.
If you have insider knowledge, or are incredibly lucky, you might do better than that by actively managing your money. Or, you might win the lotto.
