Some people fall in love with their therapist. They confuse a paid, helpful service with love and mutual attraction.

OT: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson resigns
“what happens now?“ The fastest way to get him out of office is for Parliament to vote “ no confidence”, then the Queen declare a snap election. The process would take months and would likely cause the Conservatives to be forced into a power sharing arrangement. It could result in Britain rejoining the EU. Or, Scotland orNorthern Ireland leaving the UK. It’s a mess. BoJo fucked his party.

It’s a transaction. You both get what you want. Rinse and repeat.

“Don't you mean Donald Trump?“ Every President is a narcissist who seeks power. However, some of them also want to use that power to move the direction of the country.

BoJo resigned as head of the Conservative Party, not as Prime Minister. Under the British constitution, it will be nearly impossible to remove him as PM if he doesn’t want to go. As far as Trump vs BoJo, their personalities are similar but Trump got in trouble with the left by trying to change things too much while BoJo got in trouble with Conservatives by doing nothing,

Mark Steyn had a good take on BoJo. He was very talented at gaining power but had no guiding principles or firmly held beliefs. He is a narcissist who only cared about his own station in life.

We recently learned that when Trump was President, he told Putin that an invasion of Ukraine would result in missiles hitting Moscow. Was he bluffing ? I hope so. But, you’ll notice Putin didn’t act until Trump was out of office.

    Inflation
There is nothing in economics that is linear. The direction of everything shifts all the time. Interest rates. Stock market. Inflation. Bond value. It’s a roller coaster ride. Just because someone made $1,000 from investments last month doesn’t mean they can project a $12,000 gain in the next year.

    Inflation
The statement that inflation has peaked means the RATE of inflation has gone down, not that inflation has stopped, let alone deflation. It doesn’t mean that $5 gas is going back to $3. It means that gas will only be $6 next year, not $7.

From the Hunter laptop, we know that Papa Joe got $8 Million from the Chinese. The media has buried that story. What happens in 8 months when congressional hearings document that detail ? Wire transfers. Bank accounts. Tax records. The current President has been paid $8 Million by the Chinese communists. Exactly what did they buy with that money ?

    Goodbye Money
Over the last 20 years, politicians had a choice in reaction to economic shocks. They could have let the economy react to external forces. There would have been disruptions as the job market, stock market, and real estate react to the new environment. There would have been some pain, but things would have gotten back to normal pretty quickly. Instead, what they did was keep interest rates low and print money like crazy. This covered up the pain in the short run but left a ticking debt bomb to be dealt with by a future generation, long after most of these politicians retired with their millions. That’s why, at its core, inflation was caused by government. More specifically, it was caused by corrupt politicians who knew full well the catastrophe that would take place years down the road when they couldn't be held accountable.

In general, we are going to continue to see high inflation in essential goods and services (where demand won’t change ) and deflation among non essential and luxury goods ( where demand will drop. In real estate, modestly priced homes will hold their value while high priced homes will keep dropping in price. A $300,000 home is an essential good, an $800,000 home is conspicuous consumption.

Speaking for the 20%, if you keep your savings in hard assets, you will come out of the next couple years just fine. Holding stock in large, established, profitable companies is probably the best path. These companies are large enough to adapt to the high inflation environment by shifting their product mix and raising prices. As far as the 80%, the key is to keep out of debt by scaling back your purchasing to the bare essentials. Keep a roof over your family’s head, put food on the table, and gas in the car. Spend money on nothing else. In a couple years, when your friends are buried in debt, you will be in good shape financially.

Articles like this talk about averages. That’s deceptive. It combines the upper 20%, who always have extra money, with the 80%, who always live paycheck to paycheck. When they say the average savings rate is X, it’s because the savings rate is 5X for the upper 20% and zero for everyone else.

Monmouth just did a poll of what the most important issues are for Americans. At the top were inflation ( 33%), gas prices (15%), the economy ( 9%), and food prices (6%). Abortion ( 5%} and Guns ( 3%) were next. The January 6 insurrection, transgender rights, using the right pronouns, were not on the list. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/

In the business world, when a company gets bloated, and management gets entrenched and arrogant, it requires a turnaround team to get things back on track. Someone will buy the company when the stock hits a new low, then go through it like Attila the Hun. They sell off divisions, lay-off people, outsource whole departments. These are not nice people but, when they’re done, what’s left is a lean, profitable organization. No one admires them. No one names their child after them. No one ever invites them to a social function. That’s what this country needs in the Whitehouse. If not Trump, then someone else.

There was a horrible train crash in China about 3 years ago. It involved high speed technology that China was trying to sell the world. Dozens were killed. The army swept in and buried everything. By the time they were done, no evidence was left.

Here is one more reason that Democrats will be wiped out in November. This is what moral arrogance looks like: “A Virginia school district is prohibiting teachers from consulting parents when students as young as kindergarten-age switch genders at school”

It’s helpful to understand the liberal mind. They consider themselves to be much smarter than the knuckle draggers who support Trump. They are so smart, they don’t feel they need to know the issues or defend their position. Their shibboleth is a vision of the future where there are no police, no fossil fuels, and the government provides basic income to everyone. Anyone who doubts this vision lacks enlightenment. If fact, liberals view themselves not only as smarter but as morally superior beings. In fact, they are so superior, that it is a moral imperative for them to stay in power. If they need to cheat to stay in power, so be it. The world would suffer without liberals at the helm.

As usual, suburban Moms will be a big factor. They rejected Trump last time. This time, inflation, crime, and school disfunction make them inclined to reject the Dems. And, yes, I agree Desantis has a better chance of getting their support than Trump.
