Nothing in Camden and Cheerleaders in Gloucester NJ is the worst. Cheerleaders Philly is just over the Walt Whitman Bridge and Club Risqué and Delilah’s are just over the Ben Franklin Bridge. All 3 are good clubs.
Nicespice don't stay in Camden. It's not a good area.
No dairy takes out cheesesteaks which I mostly eat in that area. Pizza too. If you like itailian food, in Philadelphia check out 9th street market there's all kinds of stuff over there. And also the reading terminal market all kinds of food stands in there.
Tourist stuff I mean I guess you gotta do the Liberty Bell or Independence Hall. Maybe for photos you got the Rocky statue and the LOVE sign.
You want to stay out of the North and West side of Philly. And unless your working at a club there and going to from, I would not go into the city at night. It's a real dangerous city and the recent years have been it's worst ever.
Studme's recommendations are likely the best for you. Outside of those, you would see too much of the Philly ghetto life.
Roast Pork hoagie at Tony & Nick's is good, or cheesesteak (skip the cheese, of course) at Gino's or Tony & Nick's. Also, Chinatown if you want Asian food.....but I don't have any specific restaurants in mind.
And clubs idk what kind of thing were you looking for? If you want the more high flying spots Risque (the one in south philly) Cheerleaders, Lou Turks and Delilah's. The suburban ones more laid back, not dangerous areas Double Visions, Tattletales, Club Risque Bristol and maybe even Creekside Cabaret if it's not too far. Probably just at 45 minutes away.
Also idk if you've ever dealt with a tip parade nice, but that's the pretty much the standard in this neck of the woods.
Donkeys in Camden has the best cheesesteak but is only open during the day. Btw - why the hell are you in Camden? Stay anywhere besides Camden - it’s somehow both boring, ugly and dangerous- but less than it was in the past.
Either moonlighting as a Broadway girl, or a visiting professor at Rutgers campus. Or, assisting muddy with retrieving discarded Campbell's soup from dumpster at Campbell's HQ.
Not judging or questioning choice of Camden...but all are right....not really anything there except Aquarium and concert venue.
Only been to Camden for work one time. The place reminded me of images of a bombed out Beirut. The place I was working provided security escorts to the parking lot across the street at night. As others have said, don't stay in Camden.
I don’t wanna get *too* much into details, but I would be staying with a friend. She has nothing to do with a stripper life, drug life, or anything else semi-shady. I trust wherever she is at would be sufficiently safe and boring. Also, whether correctly or incorrectly, I am not too afraid of the ghetto after crashing in a couple of ghetto areas around St Louis in 2019. I’m trying to figure out whether I wanna head out that way soon, or sometime in the spring. I grew up somewhere more south and am not interested in dealing with icey roads ever again. (My real fear, lol)
I appreciate the club suggestions so far. I’ll look them up in a little bit 😋
If you're going to stay with someone, that's very different. If they're OK, you probably will be too. What I was told in St. Louis (and Baltimore) is, it's very street by street. You might be OK in a particular place, but you go a block or two away, and you're in trouble. On the other hand, I only ever talked about safe areas in St. Louis with white people, who tend to exaggerate about how dangerous some places are.
The closest I ever got to Camden was hotels off the NJ Turnpike, many years ago. Looked kinda seedy, but not super dangerous. The NJ State Po Po are major, major a-holes.
I was in Philly not too long ago and went to Oasis, Cheerleaders, Club Risque, Delilah's and some hood clubs I can't remember the names of off the top of my head and you should never go to. I'll send you some info.
Camden is not all Beirut. The entertainment district (Aquarium, Battleship NJ, Amphitheater), Rutgers Camden area, Water Corporation area is mostly condos and offic buildings and seems safe in my experience. As another poster said it's probably neighborhood by neighborhood.
I appreciate the comments. It sounds like Philly clubs it is then.
And it sounds like when it comes to local cuisine, I’ll just have to try the food recommendations on my last day over there and suffer the consequences when I am away from a club ahahaha
If you do make it to Camden, Philly would be easiest as its closest and theres some good clubs on columbus blvd (already mentioned) as well as great food in south philly. Trendier fare in center city. But if you do find yourself in jersey in the summer and looking for work atlantic city and an area locally known as “strippers row” further north in the raritan bayshore are both about an hour from camden (ac a little less, bayshore a little more) . Both areas are popular and well travelled in the summer with good beaches nearby. Ac has casinos, a-list entertainment pretty much every weekend and notoriously overpriced strip clubs (bad for us, good for you) with a new busload of suckers every night lol. The bayshores a nice area and a gogo hotspot with about ten clubs within ~15-20 minutes of each other, all niches covered there. A little further from camden though, especially with traffic. As previously mentioned camdens not the type of place to go exploring by yourself and theres not much to see outside of the waterfront anyway. Its bad enough that most businesses are closed by 8 so no real nightlife to speak of. Federal st has some life but mostly spanish-speaking. Good latin food in camden btw. Camdens routinely ranked one of the worst cities in america so def do some research to understand your friends area. There are some decent neighborhoods. A lot of the surrounding towns are nice though with solid downtowns (collingswood, haddonfield, etc).

Don't know why you guys didn't recommend Carnival, other than that nicespice is an ally of this board. :-)

I’m sure a good place to eat would be an Olive Garden…
