They never tell you what you need to know.
Discussion - name the best movie you've seen (made in the past 5 years) that nobody else knows about.
You can link the movie from this site:

Mine would be: SHOT CALLER (2017). Prison movie starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who played Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones.

Meanwhile I have 55 movies I haven't watched yet saved on my computer, but I always end up watching Ghostbusters for the 137th time.

I’m gonna pick Your Name (2016) since most likely nobody else will.
Kinda a weird movie but basically two teenagers switch bodies, so each occasionally lives a different life as somebody who is different gender at a time period that is three years in the future/three years in the past.

i'll name two because one of them might actually not be considered a movie.
THE HUNT

BEASTIE BOYS STORY

To add a title, I'll say: Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains

I saw Shot Caller; not very realistic, because white collar guys don’t typically go to the really hard core prisons, and in a relative short period of time become bad ass shot callers.
Movie: The Post (2017)
Meryl Streep plays legendary publisher Katharine Graham and Tom Hanks takes on the role of the gruff but brilliant executive editor Ben Bradlee.
“Set in 1971, The Post depicts the true story of attempts by journalists at The Washington Post to publish the infamous "Pentagon Papers", a set of classified documents regarding the 20-year involvement of the United States government in the Vietnam War (1961–1975) and earlier in French Indochina back to the 1940s and the end of World War II (1939/1941–1945).“

Thought provoking
The movie is "Edge of Tomorrow" - it's a Tom Cruise actioin flick. I know, I know - I feel the same way about Tom Cruise, but this movie is worth seeing.
The basic plot involves alien invasion of earth, and Tom Cruise gaining the power to travel back to the beginning of the day every time he dies. (He dies a lot, and in some very funny ways) Of course the goal is to learn from his mistakes and advance towards killing the bad guys.

Now, I am going to go outside the window of time and mention a real obscure movie that everyone should see. But don't worry, I'm not going to go all-TwentyFive here and pull up something with stars that no one has ever heard of while thinking to myself "It may be in black and white, but at least it is a talkie."
The movie is "Lucky Number Slevin" It was released in 2006. It only did 56.3 million worldwide at the box office and $22.5 million in the US.
It is an action flick with numerous plot twists and includes two murders while the opening credits are being played. Among the stars in the film are
Bruce Willis
Josh Hartnett
Lucy Liu
Morgan Freeman
Ben Kingsley
See it, you will be glad that you did

You can rent it on Amazon Prime Video for $4 at https://www.amazon.com/Lucky-Number-Slev…
Saw both of them :D
But Lucky Number Slevin was truly obscure.
Do you agree with my recommendations?
Really had hard edge - not like most the other 80s movies that look really corny and dated now.
As a result I have nothing in the 5 year range, but check out "a boy and his dog" starring Don Johnson. Apropos for this site.
Off the top of my head I loved Peanut Butter Falcon. Think it’s on Amazon prime. Shia LeBauf is an outlaw on the run and befriends a Down syndrome kid who escaped his healthcare facility to chase his dream of becoming a wrestler and they travel through the backwoods south together. It so not mainstream Hollywood. I wish they’d make more movies like it.
The other thing I’d recommend is Amazons Mad Dogs series. One season. Group of Bros meets up in Belize for annual reunion and all hell breaks loose. Great cast. Just the scenery alone is worth the watch but if you like bad ass shit talking midgets and drug deals gone wrong, well...
Actually being a Cruise movie, I'd guess lots of people saw Edge. I'd say a lesser known and much better Cruise movie would be Collateral. IMO the best movie he ever made thanks to director Michael Mann. And no I'm not a fan of Cruise but Collateral is a real good flick.
Most of the others are on my movie drive, just haven't gotten around to watching them.
Totally agree about "Collateral" I have seen that movie at least 15 times. Other than sports in the past 20 years the only shows I watched on a regular basis were Parts Unknown with Anthony Bourdain, Sopranos, Game of Thrones and the Walking Dead, (eventually stopped at least 3 seasons ago). I have a bad habit of watching movies over and over again because there's nothing good on TV.
Tom Cruise and Denzel Washington (remember Training Day) need to play villains more often.
Yeah I mentioned it in IME's music thread here a couple weeks ago regarding the first time I heard the song Get out of Denver.
I've seen it several times and It would be on my list if this topic went back more than 5 years.
