Taking a one day trip flight to ATL.....for hot strippers! 😁

So I'm gonna bite the bullet and say FUCK IT. Learning some new tricks on how to fly cheap, I realized a round trip from a Tuesday to Wednesday flight can cost me as little as $82 round trip. One way wound cost me $49. This is from NY/NJ to ATL. With deals this cheap I thought FUCK IT, the sky's the limit baby, whoo! Plus my family works at the Marriott so I can pay $49/day at any Marriott across the country (slightly more for international). That with tax is $61.84

I also had two options: uber everywhere or rent a car for a day. Renting a car out there can vary between $19-21 depending on how much I care about leg space. Going luxurious would cost a bit more, but damn is it still cheaper than economy rentals in NYC. I'm super jealous! I am not sure which is the better option, because I wanted to stay at FOLLIES for several hours and I dont want to be stuck meandering the city on foot waiting for the hangover to clear....BUT it also can cost up to $60+ round trip from my hotel to the club. HUGE difference in price.

Lastly unfortunately to get that cheap round trip, according to Google flights, the return trip is on Spirit airlines. And I heard some stories about them. They frigging charge $37 for 1 carry-on. That's highway robbery man. AND it's bad enough I know I'll be cramped because I'm basketball tall on economy class.

Or perhaps I'm doing this all wrong and you guys can provide me some better input on my flight plans? Or even if I should just pony up to extend my stay for more than just a day?

If it’s only a day, I’m sure you could pack your all your personals into one backpack anyways. Have fun, I like going to random travel spots 😁

If I lived in a place with shitty clubs, doing something like this would be more tempting.

I'm pretty sure Follies would be a step down compared to what I have available to me now.

I used to fly in and out of Atlanta a lot. MARTA the public transportation, is not bad and easy to figure out. The Marriott downtown is a great hotel ( I had the cell # for an escort who I met there about 10 times). Have you considered Uber/Lyft instead of rental? That way you avoid OUI danger and traffic in Atlanta bounces between bad and horrible. You May know how to drive in an inch of snow but don’t bet on a million Atlantans.

Damn it's times like this I wish I had a travel buddy...or I knew tusclers well enough to hook me up with rides. If a backpack is a personal item, that'd be SO much easier. Still, I feel like I can go cheaper with AirBnBs. BUT the comfort of a Marriot is garunteed. I guess not comparing it to a Hilton anyway (I'd say Ritz Carlton, but apparently that's a subsidy of Marriott...go figure)

@gawker I truly LOL'd at that last statement. Nice jab at Atlanteans. But also great point. I really don't know how well they can drive in snow. Hmm, thank you for reminding me about the weather.

@Call.Me.Ishmael where are you at with better strip clubs than Follies? I heard you can lappers for $10 a pop, full contact. Don't know how you can beat that.

I have a work trip to Atlanta coming up as well, and am trying to figure out how to get myself to Follies while there. I will be in north Atlanta at a Westin, have google mapped the travel distance to Follies, and it looks like a fairly short Uber ride. However, my time window for clubbing will likely be during an afternoon before an early evening flight. Worried about traffic getting all the way from north Atlanta to the airport. Any advice?

according to google flights, EWR was the cheapest. What a major drag. So flipping far. but from what I understand, it's still way better than LGA

Don’t do it! There’s better things to do with your time, and spending it locally can set up future encounters. My $.02

As far as Atlanta drivers....

It would be very difficult to find someone here from Atlanta, so most likely the Atlanta driver you are making fun of is not from Atlanta.

Secondly, we generally don't get snow.... we get ice which is much different to drive on

Years ago at my first job as a stock broker one of my co workers was a northerner, Snow was predicted, he laughed and made fun of the southerners. The next morning while I was building a fire in the fireplace, drinking coffee, and taking the day off.... this stupid bastard totaled his car in a single car accident, guess who laughed at him

@Estafador... Providence, RI.

I'm not really a bargain hunter. I rarely do lap dances. Mostly VIP rooms.

Estafador I am in agreement with Ish. Providence is the most underrated strip club city. I mean you can go one town over and get a private room with a handjob for $40.00, but I'd rather spend up for a private room that is private, with a very pretty dancer with a complete menu and that is Club Desires. Although they seem fascinated lately with dancers I call obese and others might call thick, it is the only place I know with reasonable rates for upper level quality dancers. Italian food in Providence is also first class and with a casino up the road and a sports book, its where I plan on going when I die.

Clubbing out of one's area IMO is fun; not only b/c of the club itself, but just getting away from the same-old same-old, and one gets to experience a different scene - Follies is not for everyone but might as well see it w/ your own eyes and make your own determination whether it suits you or not.

I've flown Spirit a whole bunch of times - it's def way cheaper than almost anyone else except maybe Frontier is comparable - but it's only way-cheaper if you don't check bags nor take a carry-on as they charge for both (checked-bags and carry-ons) - and if one does not pay for both at the time of purchasing the ticket, they'll fuck-you-up-the-ass at the counter - I've seen people show up w/ a carry-on thinking it's free like other airlines, and be charged $100 for the carry-on b/c they didn't pre-pay for it at time of ticket purchase.

As others mentioned, one can take a personal item for free like a backpack which is what I do - I have a backpack which I use to carry-around my large 17" laptop (it has a sleeve for the laptop) - I leave the laptop at home and use the backpack to take the bare-min I need - 2 or 3 shirts, some underwear and socks, an extra pair of slacks - and don't take an additional pair of shoes (just take the ones I'm wearing on the flight) - the backpack is supposed to fit under the seat in front of you thus why I avoid over-packing it, but I almost always put it in the overhead bin and have never been told to move it from there and to put it under my seat but if there is absolutely no bin-space available you may be asked to take it out of the overhead bin and put it under your seat (but I haven't been asked to do so) - the other drawbacks of cheap-ass Spirit are:

+ they usually don't fly to as many places/airports
+ they don't have as many flights per day
+ seats don't recline and a bit of tight-fit - seems in the past it was worse w.r.t. leg-room - is not great now by any means but kinda comparable to coach-seats in most airlines
+ they charge for everything - similar to charging for a regular carry-on that's not a personal item (backpack, etc); they charge you if you wanna pick a seat (o/w you get assigned a random seat) - they charge for water and snacks and don't accept cash (only cards) - I usually take an empty bottle w/ me thru security and then fill-it once past security and take it w/ me on the plane

w.r.t. renting a car, I'm surprised you are getting it that cheap - usually if renting from ATL airport they are pretty-expensive - in the past I've rented off-airport and it's been much cheaper - I would rent a hotel w/ airport pickup, get picked-up at the airport by the hotel shuttle, then I'd call Enterprise to pick me up at the hotel (assuming the hotel was within an Enterprise's 5-mile pick-up radius) - I'd use Enterprise b/c they have a weekend deal where one could get a compact for $9.99/day (w/o tax) but I think now it's up to about $14.99/day but one has to rent it from Friday - Monday and one only gets 100-miles/day (300 miles for the 3-days; additional miles were 20-cents/mile which was not bad but if one stayed/drove local 300-miles was sufficient) - only trouble is that Enterprise in many locations has gone to shit and many times I've had trouble getting a car b/c they didn't have any (the weekend specials are only in off-airport locations).

Follies is pretty-far from the airport and Ubering would be expensive - plus it's nice to have a car if being there more than one day so one can go out to eat and stuff although one can always use Uber Eats and most places now deliver via Doordash and other services.

I guess you can do a single day thing and fly in and out - I'm not one to function well on little sleep and don't enjoy SCing when I'm tired so I prefer my SC trips to be about 3-days sometimes longer so I can take my time and not be stressing about getting to and from clubs and airport etc.

Follies has so much going on that hitting the club multiple days feels like hitting a different club every day - hard to get bored of it although it can become a bit overwhelming hitting it continuously (at least for me b/c of the crowds, etc) - I like the weekends b/c it seems they have the most variety of dancers which suits me being into variety vs a PL that looks for just one dancer to spend all his time with - but weekends are a madhouse; weekdays usually more tolerable so it's a give-and-take.

🤷🏻‍♀️ He gets to get a brief vacation and go somewhere in the south with new scenery. I don’t get the criticism and promotion for Club Desire. From all that I know, that club certainly doesn’t need it. Heck I heard of one girl singing praises of that place immediately after bitching about extras ruining the industry. 😂

So I did some quick scoping of Club Desires in Providence, RI. Unfortunately couldn't input TUSCL reviews in my equation so I stuck with google and yelp. Very mixed reviews of good and bad. Seems to be a club of personal preference with a nice decor. ALSO, it's cheaper and faster to drive to RI rather than fly which could make a trip any ol' day of the week IMO. I personally LOVE road trips, so I'll put that down for sooner rather than later. Since it's a matter costs between gas and tolls (thought about the Ferry, but that was the rather pricey) might consider renting a car just to save miles on mine. EH we'll see about it. Lastly, it's just as cold as NYC which is a minus for me.

And I couldn't find a price for Desires VIP but Follies (according to google reviews and yelp) seem to indicate $150 for VIP. Correct me if I'm wrong @shadowcat

So I'll just do both, but GA is definitely a planned event.

@Papi_Chulo yeah I was shocked too. I think it's because it's in the middle of the week is why. Also not exactly a time people are suddenly stockpiling themselves to the south. Which is why I chose that time of the week. Spirit seems to only be a return trip to JFK

@VH_Kicks I didn't know a simple backpack was not considered a carry-on. I have never flown before as an adult. Only like...twice as a child. Neither which were for fun. Might just do both Uber and car as I am not leaving GA on the same day. I'm leaving next day in the afternoon.

I might consider making it a 2 day vacay JUST to fully sight see in ATL. It depends because I have to make a time and funds to ALSO visit Texas. Which is a mix of business and pleasure.

Lastly, where da weed at in ATL? I can't not go and try some of the south's weed.

I live about 45 minutes from Desires in PVD and while I’ve been there 7 or 8 times and I have found beautiful spinners every time, I got ripped off during my first visit (stupid me - I paid up front & she changed her mind) but each and every other dancer has been up front. There are some who are not offering anything other than a dance and there are some who have more of a menu.
I’ve never been to Club Lust, upstairs and only remember reading one review of the benefit of “second story work”.
I’ve had good luck and lots of fun at other Providence Clubs (spent an hour in VIP at Cadillac once with a true 9.75). Even a couple of Mass clubs near RI offer great options (Foxy Lady Brockton & Mario’s) so it’s an area worth keeping in mind.

I don't smoke weed or anything unless you count second hand smoke at Follies. There are usually dealers in the club but I doubt that they would sell to an unknown. Best bet would be to make quick friends with a stripper that smokes it and see if she can get it for you.

If you're looking to maximize saving on the ground also, take MARTA to the Chamblee Station, and then Uber to Follies from there. It's only a couple of miles. And stay at the Marriott that Shadowcat recommended. It's a short Uber ride from there to Follies. I've used it for OTC in the past.

MARTA also allows you to stay out of the Atlanta traffic, which ranges from bad to nightmarish, depending on the time of day.

So what would travel time be on MARTA from the Medical Center station to the airport on a Friday afternoon about 4pm? I’m worried about having so much fun at Follies that I wait too long to head to the airport, but don’t want to waste lap time by leaving too early!
avatar for doctorevil

The Chamblee station is the one closest to Follies. I don’t take MARTA very often, but my guess is it would be around 35-40 minutes from the north side of town. It could easily take twice that by car during rush hour. You also need to factor in the time you have to wait for a train, but at 4:00 in the afternoon they run them pretty frequently. Check the MARTA website. They publish this kind of info. It’s a straight shot to the airport from either Medical Center or Chamblee, no need to change trains anywhere, and the ending terminal is right inside the airport. Very convenient.

do you guys have another Marriott to recommend? That Marriott turned out to be too expensive for what I normally pay ($150). Clearly I'm a super cheap bastard that has been spoiled by my personal ties to extremely good deals on quality items ^_^. But that 5 minute wait time between the club and a bed does sound tempting.

You can always try AirBnb for the cheapest option.

Or go to Hotels.com, put Follies' address and get a list of hotels by distance to Follies (Hotels.com has filters such as price, etc, to help narrow the search).

Estafor, do you need a Marriott? There is a Hampton Inn about 3 miles away on North Druid Hills Road which is less and a Double Tree in the same area that may say Emory that is listed at $102. I have been to both and they are fine.

so it turns out I have a bit of a problem. All due to my height. Turns out I'm too tall for the cheapest two airlines (frontier and spirit) churning out economy class legroom at just 28". While I'm not 7', I'm definetely abve 6'3" and BOY OH BOY I have been reading some horror stories. Especially about the guy who had to stand on the plane for his entire ride because he was 6'7" and couldn't even crouch into his seat. So I'm becoming a bit wary about what to do here. And I don't see driving as a viable option unless I either get a free $+120 gas card or can borrow an electric vehicle.

".... the cheapest two airlines (frontier and spirit) churning out economy class legroom at just 28" ..."

Is this the latest info? I'm 5"10 and in past years it was a tight-fit even for me but seems in the last year or 2 it has not been as close a fit (w.r.t. Spirit; haven't flown on Frontier) - what also makes it tough is that the seats don't recline (again w.r.t. Spirit; haven't flown on Frontier).

Spirit charges for everything including picking your seat - there are some Spirit seats that have extra leg-room such as the emergency exits but I don't recall if it applies to all planes - I'd imagine you would have to book way in advance to get those particular seats and IDK how much more they are but the website should tell you while you're buying the ticket b/f you finalize the purchase (and IDK if the cost of picking those seats makes it not worth it anymore in terms of it still being cheap enough)
