Cut back on the number of HC providers so there are long waits for service. Deny care to the elderly, smokers, or the obese. Don’t offer expensive meds but require less effective generics. And, on and on. Let’s see how popular this free HC is once those restrictions are introduced.

If the ACA is killed it has enormous consequences for 20M who got Medicaid expansion and another 50M who have pre-existing conditions and can't buy health insurance under the old system. And @Max has a point that some government programs promote capitalism. Having access to healthcare means that some workers can leave their job to start their own business. To @Mark's point, the UK provides far cheaper and better healthcare on a per-capita basis than we do. Yes, it sometimes means rationing and the government dictates what doctors can charge. I like the Swedish model better which is similar to the ACA.

(2) The individual mandate was eliminated as part of the 2017 tax cut. (3) A group of GOP governors filed a lawsuit stating that the entire ACA is unconstitutional because the mandate was eliminated. By that reasoning, the ACA should be rescued if the mandate is $1 instead of zero. The lawsuit makes no sense and amounts to judicial overreach, using the courts the overturn the decision made by congress. (4) The lawsuit could have been killed by now, but it's been pushed off until after the election. (5) There's a real possibility that 20M on Medicaid and 50M with pre-existing conditions will lose their health coverage.

  The ACA didn't and doesn't work in any manner. Why are we still talking about it. Get rid of it and let's come up with a real solution. The free market usually works. People need to quit thinking that they are entitled to health care. Companies, doctors, etc. spend billions on the development of cures....but people think they should get the results of that risk for free. Wrong! Some people just aren't going to be able to afford the latest and greatest solutions to their problems.....just like some people don't get mansions, fine dining, Ferraris, private planes, and VIP rooms with BBBJ CIM No quit No spit. It's not nice sounding.....but neither are late term abortions but the Left is okay with those. The same goes for education....some can afford Harvard, some just need to know enough to dig ditches.   At the end of the day Obamacare will be ended and the ruling stayed on appeal while Scotus decides the issue once and for all. Given that Obamacare was upheld in another jurisdiction Scotus is almost mandated to decide the issue, simply because Congress could fix it, but won't. I am not sure what the war with Iran will do to the timetable.

  If a law is Unconstitutional as deemed by Scotus it need not be repealed. Abortion l;aws from pre Roe v. wade remain on the books and were never repealed.

  Assuming democrats control the House and Senate. Payback is fine, but personally I am waiting for the actual war between the sides. Going to be a weird weekend. Swingers meet and greet saturday; skiing Monday and a gun show Sunday. First one ever for me.

  Here’s how it plays out. Once the mandate was eliminated, the pretense invented by John Roberts disappeared. Unless Roberts invents another legal fantasy ( and, he might), the foundation of ACA collapses. But, that doesn’t mean that ACA will be shut down overnight. The court will allow time for Congress to come up with an alternative and a transition. Even Congressmen are smart enough to know that dropping coverage for 70 million voters would be unwise politically. Trump will offer a plan that keeps most of them covered. There might be a work requirement for Medicaid enrollees and/or some cost containment provisions for pre-existing, but the vast majority of the 70 million will maintain some type of coverage.
