Sammy Hagar, like this song's opening and the album cover youtube.com
Maybe they call it a targa. The vehicle is designed such that it really works well. High slope to windshield and very narrow roof, so the top is not very big. Goes nice on rear deck. Looks nice.
As I know, all the subsequent Lamborginis have been like Diablo, not like Countach. Difficult to do a good job designing a targa top. One of the reasons it works for them is that they have lots of tire width, so lots of fender width, but a very small roof width, and so the side windows are very slopped.
Looks great, if you want to make a car rich extremists.
I put 1948 coz that's in the link for the car. Regardless, its absolutely beautiful. And old cars aren't even that expensive if you fix them up yourself. Cheaper than a new car. But I'm getting tempted to buy like a 2015 or 2016 Challenger.... they're decently priced now.
I think the info on the MBZ web page was wrong. E-class, of course bigger than C-class. And with 429 hp it is not likely a 3.0L I6. More likely 8 cylinders, 4 liters or a bit more.

Glenn Campbell, experience really shows, in my opinion. They have a four string bass player, but notice the guy who solos on the six string bass. youtube.com
So Nuevo Fiat 500, base model only 5 speed stick. Screw that. Abarth has 6 speed stick. Takes HP from 135 to 160 via turbo. But, does it also increase lower RPM torque, and enough to widen power band?
Abarth can do 0-60 in 6.9 seconds, much faster than regular version, and this was before they went to 6 speed stick. So Turbo is good. zeroto60times.com
Kia Stinger looks to be transverse FWD with AWD. No, correction, seems to be RWD, must be longitudinal engine, then with AWD available. So it is like the Chrysler RWD cars. 8 speed automatic transmission, dual overhead cam, 4 valves per cylinder, continuously variable valve timing control.
$40 is expensive, but this is aiming at a market segment which is typically priced much higher.
I don't think so. I think KIA may abandon it if it doesn't sell well enough, because of the price point. If people spend that much on a car, most won't associate said pricing with a KIA.
But the cars it is pitched against cost more, most of them.
I saw one, white, 4rd, at a traffic light yesterday. Looked good, rear of car is distinctive. Are the vents behind the front wheels real? General Motors has a long history of fake vents.
Like to see under the hood, and the underside too. Want to see that direct fuel injection, usually has to be on valve timing train. But it works, more power, more freedom in valve timing.
Do the intake and exhaust cams really have separate timing control? Weights and springs? Full electronic.
On BMW it has worked by duty cycle valves, using lubrication oil pressure to change cam timing. Similar to how light aircraft change prop pitch.
And then the AWD. Don't really like that, but want to see how it works.
Haynes service manuals pretty good.
But translated Japanese manuals, like Nissan and Toyota, awesome. Manuals so good, worth it to buy the car.
Taycan 5200 pound curb weight. Not as bad as I expected. For EV's this is always a problem. It is a problem for most of the current cars in my view, comparing to what cars had used to weigh.
Not in dream-car category, but I've seen a few of the new 2020 Supras on the road. Smallish coupe, collaboration with BMW, about 335HP, and competitive with Corvette (from what I've read) for about $55K. Nice car but our next purchase will be SUV, maybe X3.
Pope Francis Condemns Migrant Detention Camps in Christmas Day Address
Millions of people around the world celebrated Christmas Wednesday. Pope Francis prayed for migrants around the world and condemned “inhumane detention camps” during his annual Christmas Day address at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City.
Pope Francis: “May the son of God, come down to Earth from heaven, protect and sustain all of those who, due to these and other injustices, are forced to emigrate in the hope of a secure life. It is injustice that makes them cross deserts and seas that become cemeteries. It is injustice that forces them to endure unspeakable forms of abuse, enslavement of every kind and torture in inhumane detention camps. It is injustice that turns them away from places where they might have the hope of a dignified life but instead find themselves before the walls of indifference.”
Again, had to be the inspiration for Porsche 928. And Infinity G60 / Nissan GTR, they have the rear transaxel, but they would be improved if offered as hatchback. They are daily drives, not race cars.
Maserati Mexico, from the side, quick look, doesn't this look like and Aston-Martin DB-4?
Roadtrek used to offer motorhome conversions on the full sized American vans. Today only GM still makes those.
Now it seems to be all MBZ. And the above is the smallest and lowest priced.
It comes gas V6. Good engine. But there is a great diesel offered transverse for that chassis. RoadTrek does not seem to offer it. Their Sprinter based models are diesel. But they are larger and RWD. FWD is good for small motorhomes as the floor is lower, so the roof can be lower, and this means better fuel economy.
You can get diesel if you buy the vehicle from Dodge. You can even buy the cutaway chassis cab. Then build your own body, gracefully larger, and with less doors and windows, for nicer layout.

Ford wants to compete with Tesla and with the Porsche Taycan, fine. Just don't call it Mustang.
Sit in a Ford Focus and look at its rear hatch space.
Then do the same with a Mustang. It is a stupid car. RWD means the gas tank is under the trunk floor, big wheel wells, and that tunnel is so big at the transmission end that it eats all the foot space.
But current standards, a Mustang is very impractical.
If you want to stop making it, okay.
Just don't corrupt the name by using it on something which is FWD or Electric.
Used to be that you could get a Focus 2dr hatch. Great. Focus and Mustang can both have the I4 2.3L 350hp engine!
^^^^^ The world has changed a lot. In many ways these cars, due to the good engine management, they are all dreams. But overall these cars are still not designed for easy serviceability, especially with the electronics.
Why Toyota, Honda, And Nissan Continue To Bet On Sports Cars youtube.com
The Japanese Sports Cars are much more interesting than Nuovo Charger, Challenger, and 300. These were made out of an MBZ E-class platform, and mostly because Daimler did not want to have to compete worldwide with the Cab Forward or LH platorm.
Now, now. Didn't they teach you not to call people names at the group home. And BTW the name of the thread is "what's your dream car". Not "ramble on about cheap domestics you can find in junkyards".
Hey, I just pointed out that a Ford focus is a pretty low bar for a dream car. You're the one that called me a dickhead. Kinda doubt you'd get away with that face-to-face, but hey who knows, it's the Internet, in real life you might be Jackie fucking Chan. Anyway, I have to go now. I'm spending the weekend building an imaginary siege engine to breach imaginary privacy walls as I keep hearing something about zombies driving Chyrsler Pacificas. I'll let you get back to posting about tie rods and lug nuts (which you know far too much about) and Covid 19 (that you know jack shit about).
The only passenger cars they mention are Mustang and GT (like a Gt40 from the 60's)
No Fusion, Festiva ( originally from German Ford Fiesta in the 70's, maybe recently made in Mexico) No Taurus or Ford 500 (bigger version) No Fusion (made by Volvo).
So this stinks!
Are we going to a future where no one except Tesla makes passenger cars in North America?
^^^^^ both look promising if they are going to keep making them.
^^ cab be turbo I4, V6, or V8. $100k for the later
How about Engines and Tire Sizes for Ford Mustang?
2.3L I4, or 5.0LV8, I guess no V6.
But HOLY SHIT, Shelby GT500 has 5.2 Liter V8 with "cross plane crank"
I think that means flat crank, like 2 I4 engines put together, like Ferrari!
It fires alternating bank, a V8 which actually works right!!!
Most exciting thing I have seen in a North American Made car in over a decade!
760 @ 7,000rpm (93-octane fuel) (holy shit again, and it can go so high because of the flat crank, which is also lighter )
This explains it all, cross plane is not exactly the same as flat plane. But the firing order, from the picture, must be the same. cjponyparts.com
I look at the picture and it looks like flat plane. But they say cross plane is 4 way which is the usual American way. So I don't know, but this car is most interesting. And 760hp in something smaller than Charger and Challenger.
Tremec® 7-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission

hard top weights, manual/auto
3,492/3,512
tires widest
P265/40R19 Pirelli Super Sport (Summer Only) Tires (included in EcoBoost® Handling Package)
Summer only might be the treads, or it might not allow room for snow change. Still wider than Chrysler 300 and MBZ E-class, which only go to 245mm
$72,900
I think I would have liked Flat Crank better instead of Cross Plane Crank (4 way crank)
3.55 Limited-slip Rear Axle (Manual Transmission)
Dual Exhaust and Active Valve Performance Exhaust Open image overlay for Dual Exhaust and Active Valve Performance Exhaust
10-speed SelectShift® Automatic Transmission with Paddle Shifters
This all leaves Stellantis Chrysler in the dust!
Flat Crank V8 is really need, maybe Ford did have this, but they don't now.
Let me still look a little bit more at Mustang engines:
2.3L I4
310 @ 5,500rpm (93-octane fuel) (this had been 350hp when they were offering it in the Focus RX as well, and they drop it to 270hp for the Ranger pickup truck)
5.0 L V8
460 @ 7,000rpm (93-octane fuel)
Mach 1
480 @ 7,000rpm (93-octane fuel)
And Shelby GT500
5.2L V8
760 @ 7,000rpm (93-octane fuel)

^I actually wouldn't call the G Wagon a dream car at all, just something I hope to get in the next few years. The Ferrari and Chevelle are more of "dream cars" to me.
My dream is for the Hong Kong club to open a US location right next to a Walmart and a senior citizen apartment complex. I would not own a car and I would get an uber like 2 - 3 times a year tops.
Am I the only one that's actually really ignoring him?
would you guys quit replying to him? I keep seeing it and can't put it in context until I see the library references...
Anyways, back on subject... '64 Shelby Cobra. The AC roadster version, not one of the mustangs.
But really, these days I'm getting too damned old and like my comforts. So I think I just need to get a Tesla and be done. Heated seats, traction control, and auto pilot. and porn on the big screen built into the dash.
Do you guys remember that A/C (i.e. air conditioning, not the british car company being the aluminum cobra bodies) wasn't available in most cars until like 1980 or so? Ya, they started air conditioning the cars and everyone stopped liking them?
Tesla's faster than the Shelby anyways, in just about every way...
I have set my share of ignition points. I even decided to put a distributor drive gear in differently, so that the distributor would be rotated a different way. Then I retailored the vacuum hoses and the ignition wires. My way looked nicer and it was easier to work on. And I looked at the cam shaft to make sure that I did not get it set to fire at the top of the intake cycle.
I put a valve timing belt on correctly after seeing that I had bought the used car with it 2 teeth off. The car wanted to idle faster and it had vastly more power and top speed on very steep hills.
Previously it would have these power collapses on the freeway, seemingly emptying out the float tank because it drew fuel so fast that the electric pump could not keep up. After I fixed the valve timing, and the ignition timing, it worked great.
What I don't like on the new cars are the stupid air bags!
Okay so the V8 Mustangs with a manual transmission are all 6 speed with Rev Matching, except for the Shelby GT500 which is 7 speed.
The Mustang GT, 460 @ 7,000rpm (93-octane fuel), would be just fine for me. I am a conservative driver. I don't need a lot of power. The reason I don't like 300/Charger/Challenger is that they are too big, and most of them especially the 300, do not have turbo charged engines. They are just not good designs not any more. Too big of an engine means too much gas being burned up at stop lights.

"
In my opionion you want to avoid "metal brakes" or even "semi-metal brakes" These destroy the rotors. Though probably all cars sold today have at least "semi-metal" brakes. But you might be able to change them back to organic brakes yourself.
Having metal in the brakes gets the heat out faster. Need these for hard gas pedal to brake pedal driving, using the engine to heat up the brakes. I used to drive that way, but I don't anymore.
2.5L turbo I4 ( vastly more power per liter than most of the recent US made vehicles. Means using less gas at stop lights, but when you step on the pedal, it can really go.)
8 speed dual wet clutch (means it is a manual transmission but shifted by a robot. This will equal or exceed anything on the road )
If Stellantis (FIAT/CHRYSLER/PSA) made this they could badge it as Citroen. It is that good looking. Or as Peugeot, or as Lancia, or as Chrysler.
Americans want SUV's? Hyundai Sonata and Toyota Camry and its Lexus versions sell.

So I had thought that at 290hp from 2.5Liters the Hyundai Sonata would have to be turbo charged. But no, it seems to be just direct high pressure injection. That is even more exciting!
It is like the Subaru Scion FRS 2.0Liters -> 200hp.
Turbo chargers spin up real fast and they do wear out.
NO, I Stand corrected, to get to 290hp it does have to be the turbo charged model. But it is direct injection.

I like the kind with the roll off top.
Maybe they call it a targa. The vehicle is designed such that it really works well. High slope to windshield and very narrow roof, so the top is not very big. Goes nice on rear deck. Looks nice.
Roll down rear window too.

Much nicer than a Countach, in my opinion.

Yeah the one with the roll off top does look better....

I think to get the high acceleration it has to have the 4 matic AWD system, to reduce rubber burning. I might still prefer to still forgo that.

iceyloco... that purple merc custom is a 1949 or maybe a 1950.

1.5 Liters as I remember, DOHC 4 valves per cylinder. One of the smallest displacements on the road today.
Only problem, they don't seem to offer 2 door hatch anymore, just 4 doors.

Above I posted about an MBZ 2dr E-class.
I think the info on the MBZ web page was wrong. E-class, of course bigger than C-class. And with 429 hp it is not likely a 3.0L I6. More likely 8 cylinders, 4 liters or a bit more.

So Nuevo Fiat 500, base model only 5 speed stick. Screw that. Abarth has 6 speed stick. Takes HP from 135 to 160 via turbo. But, does it also increase lower RPM torque, and enough to widen power band?

I still want 2dr Coupe version of KIA Stinger.

I love the current Mustang body, and the entire car.
But it is not an efficient or practical car. Just a poor man's Aston-Martin for conspicuous consumption of gasoline.
But with this new Mach-E, okay to make the car, but please do not call it Mustang, cause that sounds like you intend it as a replacement.
usatoday.com
en.wikipedia.org
ford.com
Restore Focus 2dr hatch. Offer Mustang 2dr hatch, 4, 6, and 8 cylinder.
Maybe Mustang 2 offered hatch, cause it was like Pinto.
But other Mustangs have never been hatch. Hatch is like Maserati Khamsin, 2dr 2+2 RWD 4 cam 5L V8.

Hatch allows easier loading, and with back set fold down it can take bigger stuff, like bicycles and furniture.

Do you guys remember that A/C (i.e. air conditioning, not the british car company being the aluminum cobra bodies) wasn't available in most cars until like 1980 or so? Ya, they started air conditioning the cars and everyone stopped liking them?
Tesla's faster than the Shelby anyways, in just about every way...

oh, and electronic ignition. Not in the Tesla, but pretty hot shit stuff in the '80's that goes underappreciated until you own a car without it.

Electric cars can have extreme acceleration.

I just wish they would make it a hatch back, so it is more like Maserati Khamsin.

Can't have everything. That is unless I just design the car myself. :)

I think Summer only means no chains.
Chrysler 300 only goes up to 245mm tires.

BMW M2, the special limited edition

$58k
available 444 hp
standard Adaptive M Suspension, limited-slip differential, and high-performance tires.
( I want any adaptive suspension to have an off switch, and preferably to be left off of the vehicle entirely. I want maximally hard ordinary suspension. )
This compact coupe is packed with a 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine that can reach a top speed of 174 mph and a standard 6-speed manual transmission.
( 6 speed manual transmission! FIAT was stupid to let the Abarth 500 go down to 5 speeds. And of course I will never try to drive it anything anywheres close to 174mph, but that number gives you some idea of what the RPM will be at 65mph.)
Basic series 2 coupe starts at

Fuck the all-wheel drive nonsense!
Still need a lot more info.
Toyota Supra looks like it is just a reskined M2, but the Toyota may have a more tightly wrapped and aerodynamic body.

"
The M Sport brakes’ large discs and larger brake pads provide excellent fade resistance and more stopping power. The M logo is displayed on the fixed red calipers for a sporty look.

Don't want this available MangaRide Damping system, that is active suspension. Do not want it, just want hard suspension.

FWD wins, in weight, cabin room, and trunk room.

Park at the push of a button.
Getting in and out of tight spots just got so much easier. Just press a button on your Smart Key and SONATA can drive itself into a parking space, and pull out of one, too.
YIPES, don't think I like this. Maybe using the electric drive only?

Says this used direct fuel injection, meaning it is high pressure engine valve train driven, just like for example Scion/Subaru FRS?
maybe it can be 8 speed automatic OR 8 speed auto shited dual clutch paddle shifters
A very aggressive company, wants to compete!
