Column: Is the Trump impeachment snowball finally becoming an avalanche?
latimes.com
Some months after Donald Trump took the oath of office, when many of us were still rubbing our eyes in disbelief, a handful of people who knew Trump well began predicting that he would implode under the pressure of the presidency, that he wouldn’t last out his first term.
A geopolitical earthquake has shaken US leadership in the world — Russia and China stand to benefit

You could feel the quake in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s six-hour meeting with Turkish President Erdogan at Putin’s own version of Mar-a-Lago, his summer home in Sochi. It was there that he and this NATO ally, who recently bought the S-400 air defense system from Moscow in defiance of the West, talked about how they and other regional players would carve up control of Northeastern Syria to serve their interests.

Few politicians who hope to continue their careers would dare utter such frank racism these days. But a number of Republicans are nevertheless working very hard to consign themselves to history’s slag heap. They have decided to vigorously and ostentatiously defend President Donald Trump, no matter how corrupt his actions or outrageous his conduct.
And history will judge them accordingly. Every Republican in Congress who excuses or defends Trump will be remembered as an unprincipled partisan hack complicit in an unprecedented assault on democratic institutions — just to advance his or her short-term political ambitions.

State Banditism: US Is Smuggling Oil From Syria, Protecting Terrorists – Russia
cnyakundi.com
According to Russian intelligence, the illegal US-supervised extraction of Syrian oil was being carried out by “leading American corporations” and private military contractors, with US special forces and air power used for protection. Konashenkov said the estimated monthly revenue of this ‘private enterprise’ was over $30 million, and that for that kind of money, the Pentagon and the CIA would be “ready to ‘guard’ Syrian oil wells from ‘hidden Daesh cells’ indefinitely.”
A Letter: We Stand at a Crucial Crossroads In Life of Our Republic

Three years ago candidate Donald Trump welcomed and accepted help from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who helped Mr. Trump win the 2016 presidential election. To this day, President Trump has never fully admitted this fact, which was firmly established in a detailed report by special prosecutor Robert Mueller and his investigatory team. That alone was precedent-setting. However, while the Mueller investigation was ongoing, the president ordered the special prosecutor fired. While President Trump’s order was never executed, his action nevertheless constituted an obstruction of justice for which there was no consequence.
Now, we confront disturbing and credible allegations that President Trump schemed along with his subordinates to pressure the nation of Ukraine to manufacture political dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden, a top rival for Trump’s job in the upcoming 2020 election. And until the Ukraine acceded to President Trump’s request for a favor, significant US military aid to the besieged Ukraine would be held hostage.
