They've hated each other for as long as I can remember but I think cooler heads will eventually prevail.
I recall back when I was a kid they were at war but it always seems to calm down --from memory the real fear is that China could get dragged into it as well.

Comparable issues would be The Korean armistice; Syrian Israel armistice and social security. All ticking time bombs.
