You go to a reaturaunt and look over their menu. You see that you can order a steak with 2 sides for $X. If you want your steak topped with mushrooms, it will cost $X+Y. If you want your steak topped with mushrooms and onions, it will cost $X+Y+Y.
Basically, you are ordering off a menu and have the option to pay more for anything extra that you want.
