How common is it for PLs not to pay dancers?

One of the nice things about TUSCL is that you get a (supposedly) valid picture of what really goes on in strip clubs. You might have thought certain things did or didn't happen, but when you get something close to a consensus, you get a bit of a paradigm shift from before.

For instance, i used to think that the PL was out of luck if the dancer or dance counter over counted. That the PL would be "forced" to pay or that "authorities" would get involved. Generally just not worth the hassle in a your word against theirs kind of deal.

And yet on two separate occasions at two different clubs (with dance counters mind you), one girl wanted to make sure i had money after i had done 3 dances (and asked me to show it to her) and another girl wanted to get paid after i had done 5 dances, even though i still wanted to continue. It was as if guys do the strip club equivalent of a dine and dash occasionally, or even more than occasionally. How does this happen, and how often does it happen?

My guess is that maybe they say they don't have the cash and have to go to the ATM or even go to their car and then they bolt? Or maybe they say they have to go to the bathroom right away for whatever reason and sneak out? I don't know. I like to think of myself as being on the up and up and never would entertain something like this, but apparently you get all kinds of characters at strip clubs.

Any time a stripper asked for the money upfront, you can bet that she got burned at least once in the past. I'll admit that I am leery about forking over my money before a trip to VIP but so far I have not been badly ripped off.

I saw something last week that blew my mind......girl was dancing on stage and for whatever the reason a guy walked up and took the money laying on the platform and walked out the door. I saw it from the bar and so did the dancer I was talking with at the bar--by the time anyone else noticed it he was gone and so was his wingman.

I actually felt sorry for her because it was a slow night--so call me a chump but I walked over even though I really was not paying attention to her dance and laid 10.00 to replace what the guy took.

Second instance--my ex when she was dancing and at the time we were technically not back together but talking called me because she was running late to meet me......and this is how I found out she was dancing but the guy had stiffed her with counterfeit money and the club didn't notice it till the next day. It was on her to make it right or the club was going to take it out of her pay the next night she worked.

You can imagine how well that interaction went between her and the guy that paid in her in funny money.

As for the clubs response and part of what happened if you wonder sometimes why I have the attitude I do in how they treat the dancers this might explain why.

Yes, at one club a customer gave a girl a few fake Benjis and left. The girls spent a lot of time talking to the management and later to police. She never got compensated. She eventually the quit that club not long after.

I would never pay upfront for VIP. I will pay upfront for lap dances, but the minute I do so any chance of them getting a tip is gone forever. Saves me money if they ask up front.

It seems like a shitty thing to try and pull. Dancers work hard for their money - and stiffing a dancer is pretty low.

I wonder if guys know that some of the responsibility is on the dancer - and they will get more dances than they can afford - and then see if they can talk the dancer down in price? It’s shitty too. But I’m guessing guys might be able to sell it by saying - take $80 for the 5 dances (that should cost $100) - or Have the custy bounced?

I think it’s wrong either way. If a dancer provides a good dance - she’s earned her money - and I’m happy to pay.

I have never had a dancer ask to see money up front. But, I guess this makes sense why many clubs require lapdances to be paid upfront. All this time I thought it was to alleviate song counting discrepancies between dancers and customers.

I’ve said before, when getting a dance, between songs I always ask or announce the song count with my dancer. Like “okay this is song 2 right? Now we are on song 3 right?” Or I’ll say “I want to buy $100 in dances, let me know when my time is up.” Often a dancer will throw an extra song or two in if she knows you’re giving her a set amount of money and management doesn’t care about song counts. If I am with a familiar dancer I just let her go (and not worry about song count) and it works out fine.

I would not think it's common, i.e. that dancers get ripped off at least once per shift, but I'm sure it's happened to many dancers at least once if they've been dancing long-enough - it seems to me the ripping-off goes the other way more often.

If custies ripping-off dancers was very common (at least 1x/shift) I would assume prepayment would be the norm in most clubs.

I can def understand a dancer getting a bit antsy if she has done a string of dances w/o getting any $$$ then and I don't mind and understand if she wants me to pay her for the dances we've already done - at times I've had a dancer after a string of dances ask me after we've done a few "you got the $$$ to pay for these dances right?" and I've told her I can pay her for the ones we've done already and at times they'll say yes to pay them for the ones we've done but usually we just keep going after I had offered to pay b/f we were done and then just pay her at the end.

I don't like paying upfront bc for one I usually don't know how many dances I'm gonna get, but also upfront payment is often a tactic used by ROBs, and if a dancer is that uptight about being paid upfront then gives me the vibe she may be too-uptight to show me a good time - the best I'll do is show her I have the $$$ but I won't pay upfront.

The other situation i've heard is the "very drunk" PL thats gets multiple dances while being basically broke. In this case, i hear that the guy often ends up getting away with it. He gets chewed out, but nothing happens and he's none the wiser or upset really about it. As a non-drinker that just annoys me just a bit that i could get ripped off in paying for more dances than i did without any recourse, but simply by being broke and drunk i could get some "free" ones. In a sense, it kind of serves the dancer right in a form of karmic justice, for trying to take advantage of a drunk PL, but still...

What's the strip club equivalent of dine and dash?

Lap and leave?
Fuck and flee?
Cum and go?
Make like a stripper and take off?

I ended up doing a few drunken CRs one night when i didn't have cash on me, so i put it on a card. they run the bar tab on a different charge than the girl. After a few of those the credit card company started flagging thr transactions as fraud. I tried approving them but could never get the last charge to ever go through, which was to the girl. The bouncer came in, told me what was going on and basically said the girl is not going to get paid. The club was cool, the girl was cool, I felt like a skumbag. She told me she was working the next night so I took out cash, came back to see her, paid her what I owed her, talked to her for a little bit then left. She was so happy I didnt screw her over, she said she owed me something extra special the next time.

I guess I could have just screwed her over but I like the club and the girl and didnt want to be that guy that fucked over xyz one night. And didnt want to change clubs over a few hundred bucks. So i think i made the right decision.

This has happened to me, i think its more of a race thing, i think. Whenever she says it, i end the dance immeditaley, and pay even if i still have 3/4 of the song left.

On two occasions, I've witnessed a massive blow up near the lapdance areas where a PL got a bunch of dances and it turned out that he didn't have the cash to cover his time. There was a lot of yelling, arm waving, circling bouncers, etc.

In both cases, the guy left the club at great velocity. Don't be that guy.

It definitely happens. Just like with PLs, the psychological effects are well out of proportion to the actual loss -- no one likes being made into a sucker or victim. I can wipe my ass with the $15 that the last girl tried to short me, but the mere fact that she tried had long-lasting impact in how I interact with strippers, when I pay, etc. The strippers have the added pressure that they're not getting ripped off for their play money, but money they need to support themselves. So regardless of how often it happens that the girls get ripped off, expect it to have out-of-proportion impact to how they think and act

What surprises me isn't the frequency, alleged or otherwise, of girls getting ripped off, but the ease apparently. Maybe it varies by club, but i thought that management, especially if the club gets a cut of the dances, would make sure that they get their money however they could, despite whatever reason a PL didn't pay (drunk and/or broke). Some girls are probably much more aggressive about getting paid, likely getting a bouncer involved as quickly as possible.

it happens enough to worry about it but not all the time. i don't usually ask for money up front but when a guy says he needs to go to the ATM or bathroom, i follow him. i've caught a few trying to run out this way.

I've never been an eyewitness to this happening, but I've heard about it from dancers frequently enough to believe it's more than just a PL urban legend.

In a perverse way it makes sense that a guy looking to get his jollies for free would attempt such a move - the likely worst case would be getting tossed and banned from the club, *maybe* being roughed up in the process. But most clubs wouldn't sweat a dancer being stiffed enough to call in police for theft of services.

There does seem to be a pattern that new dancers are the ones I've heard about getting cheated, which is probably a combination of two factors: the more experienced dancers are more likely to ask for (or to see) the cash up front if dealing with an unknown customer; and the newbies are less likely to shy away from any warning signs, or simple intuition, that a custy might be a runner.

One of my fave dancers told me a story about a PL that locked her up for 20 dances in the VIP @ $25 per. Claimed he needed to get the money out of his car. Never came back. I didn't ask her if the club required her to pay the house tax ($5 per dance). But I've never witnessed a real time "dance and dash."

I have had the dancer ask for payment up to that point after a string of 3-5 dances. I have always willingly paid, since I would rather have her focused on giving the dances instead of worrying about whether or not I could actually cover it.

In one case, I saw a female customer go back for multiple dances, and at the end, didn't have any money to pay. She was there with another girl who was trying to gain sympathy from the other customers saying that her friend had no way of knowing that she was expected to pay for a dance in the couch room... Everyone looked at her like, uh, yeah, nice try.

I have heard of the aftermath of it happening a few other times, too.

In the club where I saw it first-hand, management would tell the dancers to get their money up front when they started, but the dancers almost never would. It gave the club cover for when the dancers complained that a guy didn't pay, though. In the most unfortunate cases, the stripper was still expected to pay the club its cut for the dances (along the lines of $5 per)

The clubs I have been visiting recently are split on whether the club requires prepayment to a VIP host for the least expensive dances and whether the dancers don't accept payment until after the couch dances are over. All of them require pre-payment to the club for a timed room, though. One of the clubs requires prepayment to a host for at least one dance, but continuing and paying the dancer at the end for the additional songs is an option.

In other words if she wants to see the money after 3 or 5 dances, it could be that she can only afford to pay $15 or $25 to the club in case of any payment mishap or it's a peak time/shift and she can't afford to both not be paid and miss out on other opportunities.

In many years of going to clubs, I've only seen it twice and both times were are high end clubs. Some drunk in a quality suit that is having his big night out gets his dance tally and realizes his wife will ask questions when he takes many of hundreds of dollars out of the ATM at a strip club and bolts. Never seen it happen at a mid range or dive club --- but then again most of the crowd in those places are regulars.

The most unfortunate part of this is that when this happens, and it does happen infrequently, the clubs are usually heartless and still demand the dancer pay the house portion. Any one that gets caught doing something like this, deserves the beating that they’ll get.

In detroit the flight club claims they make the valet parking mandatory so no dine and dash.
theDirkDiggler
There's one club with mandatory valet on weekend nights or at least they have to pay to park, but i think it's still usually mandatory valet. No street parking available either. Even at that club, sometimes the dancers ask for prepaid dances especially after 5 am, so PLs still don't pay sometimes or try not to pay even if they can't leave the club. Unless they pre-plan it and are dropped off and picked up. That would be really bush league to go out of your way to do this.

There have been times I have not had all of the cash on hand and dancers said we can just hit the ATM after the dances. I guess I come off as a trustworthy guy and have a reputation as a spender at clubs I go to multiple times. Luckily, the ATM always worked post dance. Any dancer asking me to show her my wallet in the middle of a string of dances would piss me off and having me finding another dancer.

I find it interesting that I'd never been asked to pre-pay or pay in the middle of a string of dances until recently, especially since getting a long string of dances was my norm. Now, I just do the 3/$100 deals to try dancers out before moving to VIP.

I think it depends on when I'm asked. Being asked before I even sit down for the lap dance carries the implication that I'm a cheap bastard that can't pay. I don't like that, and I especially don't like that in a club where I'm a regular.

On the other hand, being asked after getting 5-6 dances (which is easily $200+ around here) and shooting for more? Totally fair, and I'm a lot less likely to be annoyed by that - especially since I've been in a situation where I double-checked and found I was a $20 or two short of what I -thought- I had in my bankroll.

I've never been asked to pre-pay, but I think I'm generally recognized as a regular. As for the club being heartless about their cut, one scenario they probably have to watch for is a girl being in collusion with a guy she knows. He bolts, the girl has no money for her house fee, but they meet up later to settle up, and she gets away without paying the house.

One of my first ATFs told me to show the girls the cash but only pay after the dances.
If she asks for money up front, you could get ROBed... just saying.

When I have gotten the prepay request I show the cash but state I never prepay. If she refuses at that point she is likely a ROB so its no deal. No regrets.

I've seen this a lot too. Usually I have to try to convince the girl that I'm a regular by having a cocktail waitress come over and confirm it. Girls that I've talked to about it say that drunk guys will get dances with the legitimate intention to pay at the end and then when they open their wallet, they find out they don't have enough money. They'll go to the ATM but it will have like a $100 withdrawal fee which they'll refuse to pay. So they leave with the intention of going to their bank and returning and some never do. At one of the clubs I go to, the girl has to pay the VIP room fee (it's posted in the VIP area, sort of signalling to the customer what the recommended tip is). So not only does the girl not make any money, but she actually loses money in the transaction.

i honestly can understand the girl asking for the money upfront. then i show the money.
if that’s not to her approval then i’ll give her one half.
iff i’m really horny i’ll pay her all up front.
usually that works. butt on the other hand i’ve by ripped off.
that sucks.

I've come to learn that there are some dancers that can be trusted to be fair with the dance count while others you really gotta watch. In the latter example, this is the same as any other hustle where the seller gently "forces" the product on someone and then demands payment. Like the other day I was at someone's event where food and beverages were being served. Actually, the stuff was being SOLD to the guests. So when I got there, the host said, "Hey Jack! Can I get you a soda and sandwich?" and I said, "Sure, THANKS!" 20 minutes after scarfing down the tuna and drinking a can of Mountain Dew, the host came back with a piece of paper that looked similar to the check that a waiter brings you in a restaurant. She handed it to me and said, "That'll be $6 for the sandwich and $1 for the soda." I didn't mind because $7 wasn't going to break me. But I hated the fact that she took advantage of my trust and hustled me knowing that if she offered to sell me a sandwich, I probably would have said, "NO." I'm sure that she had her fair share of people who looked at her bill, said WTF, and didn't pay her and she was probably OK with that. But because I respected her more than she respected me, I gave her the money. And this is a very common selling tactic that strippers use. They'll take a chance of trying to give you more dances than you said you could afford with hopes that you'll pull the difference out of the ATM. And some of them are even smart enough to keep you from sneaking out. I once told the stripper that I need to go to the ATM. She demanded that she go with me and that I had to lead the way so that I don't get "lost" trailing behind her.

^ it's up to the custy to keep track of the songs and not buy more than he wants or is willing to spend - in any case if a custy just wants 'X' dances he should tell her that upfront b/c o/w it's fair for her to assume the custy wants more (and in her best interest not to ask the custy if he wants to stop) - also it's perfectly understandable a dancer following a custy to the ATM if he owes her $$$ b/c he can easily bail on her and surely it happens (she can't afford to take that chance).

Many, many years ago, back at Market street cinema, ATM refused to gimme money I owed the girl. She got rather upset about that, and I tried several things with no success, and ended up leaving w/o paying. I came back the next night with money, told the doorman I was just there to pay her (didn't want to pay cover) he was looking at me like WTF but finally went and got her, she looked shocked to see me again, especially with money.
Another night, very recently, having a lapper and the girl got called to the stage. I didn't have all I owed and told her I had to hit the ATM. She went on stage, I went to the ATM, got cash, sat back where I was when she first approached me and watched her on stage. She finished her stage and headed straight for the dressing room, came back out 10-15 minutes late, and sat down with some other guy!!! About 30-40 minutes later, she was standing in the back with that "who am I gonna ask next" look so I approached her with what I owed. She seemed at first confused... I'm wondering if she really just forgot about it, or forgot who I was, or just blew off what she assume was screwed over for $60 and ignored me staying at the club?
