What makes you a "regular" at a club?

There are several clubs that I have been going to for decades. I visit anywhere from every couple of months to every few weeks. That does run in cycles and I may hit a club once a week for a short while. That means I have been to these clubs dozens if not hundreds of times. When I do go, I am looking to drop $250-$500 dollars. It doesn't always happen and I often leave with most of my money. Quite a few dancers know me by name. I am a repeat customer for them and they know I drop some cash. I mentioned to a newer girl that I was somewhat of a regular. She said I was not a regular because regulars are there several times a week. So, do you consider yourself a "regular" at one or more clubs? Is that based on how long you have been going, how often you go, what you spend, or some combination?

    I'm considered a regular at Follies. Shadowcat's seat has been mentioned in numerous reviews. :)

    I think there is a "tier" of regulars so to speak. Not based on how much you spend but how often you go. Like every day regular, weekly regular, bi-weekly regular, monthly regular, annual regular, etc. If you're a 2 or 3 times a week regular you certainly know more dancers and staff than somebody that only goes every few weeks. Regardless of how or how much you spend.

    I don’t know.. the guys who come in once a month and spend well are very well known. The guys who come in almost daily and spend a little are also well known, but they are mostly known for barely spending.

    I consider myself a regular at a club if I visit there at least once a month, have several dancers there who I go to see and get dances from, for more than 2 songs.

    I first felt like a regular when I walked into the Flight Club one day and the waitress said, "I'm sorry. Somebody is sitting at YOUR TABLE." Now when I walk in everybody yells "JACK!"

    I would think being known well enough to not get kicked out by a pissy dancer might factor into it somehow. ;-) Or being able to call ahead and have your seat at the bar reserved for you.

    I'm not as much of a regular now, but for awhile I was going in weekly, same day, same time, to see the same girl. As I was sitting down at my usual table my usual waitress would appear with my drink. This was dayshift so I pretty much knew all the rotation of dancers, at least enough to say hi. One day, as she put the drink down, the waitress said, "Your girl's not here today." I said, "Oh" and thanked her. A little while later a dancer stopped by to say hello, and then added "your girl's not here today." I said I had heard that. A little later I went up to the stage to tip a dancer. She thanked me, then leaned over and said, "you know your girl's not here today, right?" Turns out my girl was not there that day.

    If you have your name on a name plate on a booth or a bar stool, you might be a regular.

    I think BJ99 nailed the definition. The dancers know you. I don’t think it requires a guy show up daily - but he should be there at least monthly.

    I think for *most* of the dancers to consider you a regular they need to see you there weekly at a minimum....The dancers that you've patronized will know you're a regular if you either come often or spend well...But they aren't going to share that! In my home club I am known as a regular by dancers I've never even met....Elsewhere only a couple girls know me and if I walked in most wouldn't know me until I ask them for some lappies.

    I tend to go twice or maybe these times are year or maybe not at all for years at a stretch. So that hardly qualifies. Two years ago, about this time of year, I went to the club 3 times within the span of 10 days. Just to see what and why the Tuscdl hive mind likes about regularity. The dancers pleasantly surprised me and were almost unanimous in staying, "Nooo !! What are you doing here? Get out her here. No! Please. Do not become one of those guys!" I can't say I didn't agree with them. I chatted with a few, finished my drink, and left for about 4-6 months.

The troll back in the day at PP Greenville always recognized me and even had a nickname for me based on a restaurant we both knew in my town (it was the name of the owner). I went to a club a year or so ago where I hadn't been in probably 3 years. The bartender called me by my name and the manager said he had just mentioned that one of the old regulars would come in that day.

    @dominic77 I was able to get to a couple of clubs earlier this week...hadn't been to any in 7 or so months. While I was at one of the clubs I was thinking it was nice to have a break because it made going back that much better. It felt like a mini vacation for a couple of hours.

    The best part for me in not visiting clubs for a while, is there is always new talent usually when you do venture back. If you are a regular, you see the same girls over and over again. It’s always nice to see something new that might intrigue you...

    Warhawks - that can be a downside of being a regular. The variety of strippers and new hotties is something that I enjoy.

    I now remember a time when I was a regular and did not realize it. I walked up to the bar at the old 24K club in Atlanta. The bartender did not seem to notice, but then walked by and simply set my "usual" brand of beer in front of me.

    Does it pay to be known as a "regular" or do the dancers eventually get tired of your ass coming in there all the time?

    @rickberge If they tired of seeing you they'll likely never say. They'll still dance and take your money, so what's it matter. I knew I was seen as a regular when without saying a word the waitress brings my drink to me as I'm sitting down then says "Neither Janice or Denice is her baby."

And the genesis of the know it when you see it phrase was US Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart who declared in a 1964 porn case, "I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced within that shorthand description [hard-core pornography]; and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. But I know it when I see it, and the motion picture involved in this case is not that."

    I went to Desires with my Wife. The guy at the door gave me a bro hug and let us in free. The floor manager bought us our first round. The owner came by, bought another round and told my wife he thought he knew her because all the girls had told him I always spoke well of her to them. The bartender asked her if she knew how proud I was of her for skiing all the double blacks at Snowbird the prior month. That made me think I was a regular.
