On Sunday

Strip Club Nation
I had visited a Texas club a few years back on a Saturday night and had an absolute blast staying about six hours all the way until closing time. A few weeks after my visit, I checked the reviews for that club, and a semi-well known member on here posted a review absolutely blasting the club. He complained there were barely any dancers working and there was no energy. His club rating put a noticeable dent in the overall rating.

Here was the problem: He visited on a Sunday afternoon. Do people really expect strip clubs to be any good on Sundays? All the hot dancers probably were still asleep from staying up until 4am the night before.

The kicker was it seemed the reviewer was actually a local (based on all his other reviews) who could have easily popped into the club on busier shifts like Friday and Saturday, and it might have upped or averaged out his opinion versus giving the club a rating death penalty. I think the approach of compositing multiple visits into a single review gives a much accurate picture of a club than a single visit, especially when dealing with dead shifts like a Sunday or Monday.

Personally, I won't post reviews or composite reviews of clubs until I have at least made a Friday or Saturday night visit when a club's full potential is apparent. Those are prime times when generally the most and the hottest dancers will be working.

Now, to the contrary, I have also visited a lot of clubs over the last few years that have been very dead even on Friday and Saturday nights--very few dancers and very few customers. I have pondered how they are even able to justify the utility bill and staff wages. There are definitely some metro areas in the United States that are ripe for a strip club scene culling. Perhaps there is value in keeping a strip club open if it is some type of tax write off or an instrument for money laundering for ownership.

I think each reviewer should state what he saw in that particular visit and thus e.g. describes the club on a Su afternoon - the reader reading that review should take into account the time of the visit - I def put emphasis on day/time when reading a review

The problem is there is a single rating for the club. Not separate ratings based on the day/shift. Also the way the algorithm is set up, the more times you review the same club, the more meaningless your ratings become.

I think reviewers should rate clubs to expectations. I never expect the best or the most talent on a sunday or monday afternoon. But also i think they should have a good number of dancers on shift(relative to the number of patrons) no matter what time if they are open. If they cant get quality dancers or enough dancers to work a certain shift, they shouldnt be open.

What metro areas seem to have an oversupply of SC's and could afford to have a club or two shut down?

^i meant they shouldnt be open for that shift. Most clubs manage enough dancers on prime shifts.

A review should be written with an understanding of the day and time when the reviewer was at the club. It’s useless to provide an overly negative review of a club when going during off-hours. A Sunday afternoon isn’t going to be when you’d expect the varsity team to show up.

"Personally, I won't post reviews or composite reviews of clubs until I have at least made a Friday or Saturday night visit when a club's full potential is apparent. "

Again, i dont need to see the "full potential". I may not even be able to visit a certain club on a friday or saturday night even if i wanted to. But i still expect a certain number and quality of dancers on non-prime shifts. As long as there are a enough 7s and 8s to go around around, again relative to the number of patrons, thats all i need for a off peak time. Otherwise why are they open at that time? Day shift is popular with a number of posters here but its been my experience that there arent enough quality dancers to go around and the ones that are always seem not available. So i dont do day shift unless i have nothing else to do or the club has a reputation for a volume dayshift with lots of dancers.

A club is responsible for the quality of its wares no matter what time of the day or week it is. So if a club puts pigs out on the day shift and some people review the club based upon that, then so be it. We can only post reviews based upon what we see at the time that we visit. If the club has hotter talent during other shifts/days, then it will work itself out in the was over time via a composite rating.

For me, Sunday through Tuesday nights are my favorite times to visit clubs. Some clubs have the B team on those nights and I penalize the fuck out of them for it. I don't expect the same numbers for sure, but when the club is open and I am spending good money, I expect there to be some quality options.

But don't worry Sinclair, soon our ratings are no longer going to matter. With the use of contribution level for ratings weightings instead of the historical number of clubs, four 1 and 1 shill reviewers (each getting a 2.3 or so starting Contri rating) now equal about one seasoned member with lots of recent reviews. So if any club is really that worried about its ratings, all they need to do is create a large enough basket of shill accounts and write about 5 reviews a week to ensure that their ratings stay high. Just ask Baby Dolls in Dallas - they are masters of the technique now.

Rickdugan - those are valid points. I’m not looking for beauties. I’m looking for filthy extras dancers - so I can find what I want at clubs more during the day shift - than the evening shift (due to the evenings having more security).

I don’t know what the new rating system will be - or how it will be weighted. I don’t rely upon a single rating - or a single reviewer. Numeric ratings are ok - but reading about the experience is what helps my decisions.

I actually prefer to read reviews that are based on non prime hours because I mostly club on non prime hours. To me a highly rated club where 95% of the reviews are from Friday and Saturday nights is useless to me clubbing on a Tuesday afternoon.

I read the reviews of clubs I go to regularly and skim most of the others, the only reviews I put my trust in are ones by regular members that post here. Truth be told most of the reviews are just written by folks looking for VIP access, and many times I’ll read a review of a club I know pretty well and it doesn’t match my experience.

Is that when the addicts work?

You read enough reviews, you generally get a vibe for the club and what type of patrons go there. Numeric ratings don't mean squat one's 10 can be another's 6. It's more about what's said, or just as importantly, not said.

I try to read reviews of the days I'll visit a club, but if that's not available, I try to read to get an overall view of the club (if it us new to me). I understand certain days and times will be slower than others so I take that into account in reading someone else's review.

I get that there are probably times when the club is going to be at its best. It's not my responsibility as a customer to figure out when that is.

I've had fun times in stops where only one or two dancers were dressed because they were on their game and the club staff was professional. I review the club based on when I was there. If the only time I'll ever see your club is when all your decent strippers are out a publicity event (which I was told by a guy who managed a club in Memphis), then that's bad luck from a review perspective.

If there's time to take another look that's a good thing, but I don't usually have a chance to do a repeat visit. The last time I did that was Pandora's in Seattle because the first visit (on a Sunday night) was so terrible compared to the reviews. As rickdugan commented, it's up to the club to have their place ready to entertain when it's open for business. I'll factor in time of day, but that doesn't let them off the hook to provide quality service.

Sinclair, what you are proposing is akin to a movie critic reviewing a movie based only on the best parts of the movie. I actually think we should critique these clubs more based on off peak shifts.

I laugh when someone reviews a club and talks about how hot the girls were, and I’ve been to this dive in question several times where the best I’ve seen is a 6. Man some PLs have terribly low standards.

This has happened for multiple clubs not just one... for me.
