Rookie move = being ripped-off

From a recent review of St James in Houston, TX:

"... I gave a dancer on stage $100 to dance for a shy friend. I pointed him out and told her his name. It was towards closing time and the dancer snuck out the back.

When I reported it to management, he accused me of laying money the stage when, so, according to him, it was "stage" and not "dance" money, even though I specifically gave money to girl, pointed out friend, and she acknowledged arrangement.

When I told manager in a courteous and polite manner given the situation that I would write a negative review and post it, he became very threatening and menacing, and had very large bouncer come over and escort friend and myself out of club.

THE PLACE HAS THIEVES WORKING THERE AND IS OPERATED BY THUGS ..."

I made the mistake of "prepaying" for a dance at the stage many years ago when I was a young pup, in my mind it was like a refundable deposit.

Prepaying is for chumps - once a stripper has your $$$, kiss it goodbye

You do have to be smart about how you handle money with a stripper. If the lap dances are done in an open setting that is monitored by a bouncer, and you can see other customers getting dances, you probably won't be ROB'd if you do have to pre-pay for at least the first dance. The reason being that there are witnesses that can confirm (or possibly deny) your word against hers.

There was a setup like this at one of my favorite Wisconsin clubs. It was an upscale club, and the dancers did conduct their business in an honest manner. When I would go to the dance area, I was always required to pre-pay for the first dance. I never had any issues in doing so. Then again, the whole concept really didn't make sense. If you got 2 or more dances, you would still have to pay for the additional dances afterwards.

Let's hope that "ChrisBingham" isn't really "Chris Bingham". Having some skank run off with $100 is the least of his problems if that's how the guy manages his information.

Always have to laugh at stories where somebody says "Oh yeah? Well, I'm going write a bad review of your club!"

I have never visited a prepay club; but AFAIK most prepay clubs one pays a staff person not the dancer; which is not the same

I had something like this happen once where another customer bought a dance for me and at the end of a couple of dances, the dancer went over to the dance host to deliver the dance money. At that point the guy who had given her the money had left. She came back and told me that I only gave her enough for one dance... and that since the other guy had handed her the money, that was considered a tip from him, and he would have had to give me the money directly, etc, etc.

At least it wasn't a $100 ROB experience.

I never threaten to write a bad review. I never wanted anyone to know my identity. However I think at least one dancer in one club figured me out and gave me a dancer nickname called Trouble. If she only knew more how appropriate that has been at times.

I remember one club was raided within a week after I posted something I didn't think was that bad. Another time I emailed the strip club chain management and they suspended dancers and bouncers for 2 weeks after they did an internal investigation.

@Papi, you are correct about pre-pay clubs. It has been 5 years since I've been to that club. I do remember now. It was the bouncer that collected money for dances. You'd pre-pay the first, and then afterwards pay for any additional dances you got.

I’m uncomfortable prepaying for dances. But sadly some clubs require it. When prepaying - I’d only give the money to the host - as it’s not a good idea advancing any money to a dancer.

If your only recourse is to write a bad review on this site - then you aren’t in a good position. The threat of a bad tuscl review isn’t going to get an asshole manager to become less of an asshole.

The Spearmint Rhino in Dallas has the pre-pay system in their semi-private LD room where you and your lady check in with a bouncer before you find your private booth. Some girls run a scam where you have to declare how many dances you want up front and pay ahead, but many don't--you just check in and pay at the end. The down side is a $20 LD becomes $25 with $5 going to house : /

For me a dancer asking to be paid upfront for dances is usually a deal-breaker - I can understand that some of them do it b/c they've gotten ripped-off - but in my limited experience (since it's not that common), dancers that want to get paid upfront are often ROBs or bad at dancing - the most I'll do is compromise and say I'll pay after each dance if they are fearful of getting ripped off; or if it's been a string of dances and they want payment for what we've done so far b/f continuing, I don't have a problem w/ that.

Likewise avoid paying the VIP dancer-fee upfront but sometimes the little-head just tells me DO IT b/c I gotta have the bitch; but this is more of the exception.

@TXbananas, what circumstance raises the price from $20 to $25 per dance? Not paying up-front or...? I would still rather pay afterwards. $20 additional on four worthwhile dances is much better deal than $40 wasted on two ROB dances, imo.

@ppwh at the Dallas Rhino they have a semi-private area that falls between $20 floor LDs and VIPs that cost $25 per.

Pre-paying was a rookie move.

Threatening to write a negative review to an already-hostile manager -- as if you're "safe" in a strip club, like it's a spa and not a place often run by thugs -- is some mix of poor judgement, poor situational awareness, and stupidity.

At Synn COI you also have to prepay for the 3 for $40 nude dances in the VIP. You pay the bouncer and I had no issues with it. I got about 4 of them and always started on a song or two after having the chick sitting on my lap chatting me up. In case of an extension you simply pay the bouncer afterwards.

I noticed at the Vegas clubs some girls ask you to pay before the dance starts. Not sure why but it's definitely a turn off for me. Are you that worried about not being paid your precious $20?

I've only pre-payed for dances a couple of times, and in both cases I was unable to enjoy the experience. Even if I were to refuse to pre-pay and the girl still agreed to do the dance, I wouldn't be able to enjoy it (i.e., get hard). From then on I just walked away if asked to pre-pay.

Yes indeed, rookie move. Not to mention the money lost, but that would have been like 3 or 4 dances from prices I remember reading reviews while out there.

Had he known any better he'd had tipped like $5 and asked her to come over. I'm sure he probably wouldn't have been bent out of shape then, and it's more likely she'd had come over if she's after more money. Im thankful I found TUSCL before ever having a prepay situation, whether good or bad.

I wouldn't fault the management, but escorting them out the club seems extreme. I'm sure someone who didn't get ripped off has negatively reviewed the club.

Most of the clubs I’ve been to require pre pay. But of course the money is always given to a club employee. What the stripper did doesn’t surprise me

In most clubs that charge $25 it is basically just a 20% tax on the customer that the club pockets.
