Keeping the Receipt

Avatar for Nixur68

Hey all,

I've been hitting up the clubs for a while and unlike fast food joints I'm getting the vibe where the host looks at like me when I should keep my receipt. Is there some un-intuitive tax deductible where I should keep my receipt?

I write off all my strip club expenses on my taxes. I tell the IRS I gave the money to Charity.

In general you should always keep a copy, and make sure to write the total on the store copy and something in the tip even if you tip cash so it can't be altered after you sign. Trust me, I was a waiter and a bartender, it happens all the time.

"I write off all my strip club expenses on my taxes."

Ace!

Seriously though, I would see no reason to keep receipts.

A lot of clubs give paper receipts for drinks down here, and I say "thanks for the evidence"

I can't remember even being offered a receipt at a strip club.

One time when traveling I got a receipt for cover charge at a strip club, mindlessly putting it in my pocket as I customarily did with all receipts I received. They gather in the pocket until I eventually remember to throw them out. Well, I forgot and once back home I put all receipts on desk without thinking, and left them there to do something else, as I was gonna throw them out later like usual. Wife saw the receipt, by name of establishment it was obviously a strip club. That was not a fun conversation.

Now I never keep receipts for anything.

Receipt is required when you are blowing the black corporate card at the SC.

the C-suite at my work does write-up "personal improvements" for their escorts and SBs. They all claim tuition and boob jobs, etc, because they feel those fall under personal improvement, and as such are deductible.

In the '90s we used to be able to turn in expense receipts for SCs or outright just use the corporate credit card. Most corporate accountants frown on that now. Most they let us expense these days is pay-per-view pornos in the hotel room. That's feminism for ya! Ruin it for everyone why dontcha! ;)

My guess is that if you were paying with a card the look was her way of saying that you should keep evidence of what you spent. Otherwise, that $75 bar tab may show up as $175 or more when you check your next statement.

If you never pay with a debit/credit card at the club there is no need for a receipt. Remember, in a fantasy world like strip clubs "cash is king" and a paper trail is evidence.

This is one reason to pay all cash in strip clubs. You don't have to worry about receipts or something extra charged on credit cards. I've read stories about extra rip off charges on credit cards with some clubs. Plus I don't care for many clubs to have my financial information. You never know how secure a strip club will keep their financial records which would include your credit card data if you use it there. I'm just thinking who monitors a strip club credit card information? The door girl? A former stripper? Do you really want these people in charge of security for your financial data with your credit card or social security information? It makes me wonder. With millions of data leaks already in large retail chains, I suspect hackers can steal a strip club's information and the strip club will never report the hack.

If I was a hacker, I wouldn't even let a strip club know I hacked their computers and just look around for pics of strippers, their drivers license and where they lived at if I was curious and anything else I wanted to in the computer and leave no evidence behind. I know some hackers like to leave behind evidence they were there snooping around. Some don't. I somehow doubt the strip club owner will want to reveal if their computers were hacked and what information got taken because he won't know for sure if anyone even told him something funny popped up on their computer system. Hackers can leave behind malware too so that they can get downloads if they want updates.

Simple - don't use a cc at an sc and all of this is moot.

I don't know if anyone tries to deduct or make a business expense out of strip clubs, or money handed to women. To me it seems touchy, very touchy.

Are you entertaining clients? Are you recruiting employees, like strippers?

Does anyone do this, anyone who is willing to talk about it.

Your wife needs them turned in at the end of the night to see how much you spent. If you could note which extras were done for how much it would help her attorney make sure you are left with nothing.
