When watching many porn scenes these days, a lot of them (obviously) are filmed in actual hotel rooms. IDK why, maybe cheap sets? I always wondered how they got away with it, could the hotels possibly sue the porn companies for use of their room in a scene without their permission? Do they go to the hotel and say "hey we are filming a porn scene in your room, how much more are you going to charge us?" and the hotel says "well everyone jizzes all over everything on a normal night anyway, so we are okay with that."
I started thinking of this, when I was watching a scene and realized it was taking place in a MGM Signature room in Vegas, one of which I've stayed at several times. I've also have viewed scenes from several other Vegas hotels and one I believe to be in San Diego, Montreal, etc. etc.
My former SO filmed a few scenes as an extra. Most are filmed at their studio but many are filmed at private homes they rent for the day. Others are at hotel rooms.
Somewhere buried on their web sites hotels probably have terms and conditions that would dictte what activities are and are not permissible in the rooms. State laws might also be relevant in defining any restrictions on making porn videos in the state.
@LDK82 -- If you live in certain parts of Southern California or Florida (or any place else where porn production is based), then you very well could do exactly that.
Many of the porn sets you see are upscale private residences where the owners are having trouble making mortgage payments. Porn producers rent these spaces at low(ish) cost for production sets.
Though taking over a private residence is more expensive than a hotel (on average), it's also less risky and less prone to management tossing everyone out. Having a crew and performers minus a set is extremely expensive.
The moral of this story... don't turn on a black light in a hotel room or your financially-underwater buddy's guest bedroom. It often looks like a cross between a murder scene and a Salvador Dali painting.
