I've been banking with Chase for years and most of what I do is on line and wire transfers. I was just checking my statement to make sure I got paid and I noticed there's a thing on my statement that says "Reward Points". I never checked what it was but got curious. I assumed it was just stupid shit I could buy. Well, I had over 40,000 points so I clicked on it, and one option was to wire over $400 to my checking account! A penny a point! Holy shit....after all these years that pot was just growing. Well, guess where I'm going tomorrow? I know a few girls who will have a VERY merry Christmas!
Wells Fargo has something similar called Go Far Rewards. Basically, after you've used your credit card over a course of time it builds up and once you reach at least 25 dollars of rewards you can redeem it.
But yours must have been building for a looooooong ass time for you to have THAT much built up
Credit cards rewards programs have been around for a long time; I'm also w/ Chase and also have a Discover card and have used both cards' rewards points on some out-of-area SC trips either for hotel reservations or towards a car-rental - I will often use my credit-card instead of paying for stuff cash so I can build up points.
Back in the late 90s a guy I knew was building a new house and he put a lot of the stuff on his credit card and after he built his house he had put so much on his credit card that he was able to take his family on a European vacation using the points he had accumulated (he paid off the card immediately since he had the cash for the house but wanted to use his credit card instead)
Was in Detroit a couple of weekends ago for Friday night and Saturday night strip clubbing and a casino visit. Had a large amount of cash on me so hid half in some boxers up high in the hotel closet before heading out Friday. Got the rest of the cash from my boxers Saturday.....but when leaving Sunday and grabbing my clothes a $100 bill fluttered out from the boxers!
A few years ago I consolidated on a couple of credit cards that give 2% cash back, and buy everything with them. Yeah, it's nice to have a few hundred dollars here and there to pay things off with
A while back experienced identity theft with my Discover Card. A few thousand dollars worth of fraudulent purchases were made. Discover Card immediately removed the purchases and got me a new card....but at the end of my billing cycle noticed my rewards inflated by like $60 - obviously the result of the fraudulent purchases.
Yep, my Chase Freedom Visa pays 1% on all purchases and 5% on certain kinds of purchases that change each quarter. Some quarters it's restaurants, hotels, and/or gas, all of which I buy a *lot* of, so couple of years I cash out a few hundred dollars.

Maybe I'll make a stripper happy soon too. ;)
