Yeah alligators are fast (~20 mph) but only fast in a straight-line, b/c of their short legs they can't turn fast so one should run in a zig-zag direction to try & avoid being gator-bait
If you are out hiking in the Florida Keys with a bunch of friends and encounter an alligator remember you don't need to be the fastest person in the group when the alligator chases you, you only need to outrun the slowest person and you'll be just fine.
