In another topic I asked vm (vincemichaels) about his longevity on TUSCL. He came aboard in 2001, not long after me. I know sc (shadowcat) is listed as newer than me, but is only because he was once booted from TUSCL for a time.. Any other near 15+ year TUSCLers? 10+ years?
I know this has been covered before, but over the years, well one is here longer. DUH!
A lot of other guys have left or passed away (most before their due time).
I've been on here for well over a decade, but I haven't been active on the boards until much later after joining. I'm not an old fart though, I'm not even 40 yet.
I've said this before ... well before this forum looked anything like this, tuscl had a very primitive forum going, and I was on it for a while. Alas, I have no idea when it that was, but it was pretty close to whenever tuscl first introduced it. I left as SF-based discussion shifted to local forums with far better forum software and more local discussion, and came back when the SF-dominant forum was busted by the feds a coupla years ago.
Was also part of a.s.s-c ,the first internet/usenet newsgroup on SCs. THAT was a pretty magical time, though we didn't realize it hten
I've been around for a little bit, first as a lurker but I have been posting regularly for the last few years, what I don't get is some of you guys have been on here so long why do I get called an old geezer ; )
I joined as Steve3000 back in 2008, but I had an account in the early 2000's. Steve2000, I think. I recall tuscl from back in the mid-90's, though. I only lurked back then and used the info to find clubs on work trips. Not that I am a big poster now. And no, I am not Steve229. (I have been asked before...)
Let me qualify the above. Social Security age and with FULL retirement. IE; I could have gotten benefits at 62, but waited to full retirement at 66.25. So became an old fart at that time.
Anytime. I always want people to be able to freely express their views.
And don't you think these older male musicians also look cool with just their obvious ability and comfort level with performing, in a way that younger guys usually can't equal?
I remember visiting TUSCL for the first time in the late 90s, it think. It was usually first in the list of results from yahoo search and Alta vista. :) It was adter I moved to Louisville, but before I moved into my current home. I didn't register until until I think 2008 or 9.
Clubber: Yeah. My first programming ever was in high school in 1976. There was a total of 8K of memory in the PDP-8 we were using. :)
First professional gig was in the Marine Corps 10 years later on an IBM 370. I don't think that one had much more than 8 either. At least the way the sysadmins went on about making our jobs smaller. :)
In 1975 I implemented the Navy's Ship Hull Characteristics Program on the Westinghouse system. I ran the sample problem on the IBM 370 and it took about ten minutes to run. Then I had it compiled and run on the CDC 7600 (there were four of those in the States and W owned two of them); it ran in 2.4 seconds!
Of course, any of our three computers that we have in our house would blow that away by an order of magnitude.
@ATACdawg: I was still a pimply faced high eighth grader in '75. :)
But I did write a "sub hunt" game for that PDP 8 we had. I had to convince the teacher to split the ram into 6 and 2 K between the two terminals rather than 4 and 4 in order to get it to fit. :)
I've been here since 1994 but mostly under a different name. I changed it when I got my ATF because she would know who I was if she saw my old handle and I didn't want that. She never goes to TUSCL anyway, but better to not make it obvious.

See my reply above to jack.
Retirement age is my criteria.

I'm guessing it was "9". :)
Been a good one for most of us oldsters or we likely wouldn't still be TUSCLers.
Did you program back in the days when memory and disk space costs MEGA bucks? A different world back then.

Just having used "K" ages you! :)

Please don't go ruining my reputation.

This is why I used the " ", so as to reference his use of K. That why no one would confuse it with you. Right? :)
I'm just worried a dancer will read it wrong and my OTC days come to an end

You must be older than I thought.
