Stripper life stories

I was at a club in mid Michigan earlier this evening. It was very slow so I got a few life stories from the girls.

One has been at this same club for eight years. She appears to be approaching the end of her shelf life. She has no plans for the future.

Another is working for free at a tattoo and piercing place. Her greatest ambition is to become a professional body piercer.

The last one is preparing to leave town. She has three kids, two of them by a guy who gets out of prison next week and has promised to "mess her up."

What is wrong with these girls? Is this the best they can do?

    If you're a guy rolling into a club that regularly spends $100s of dollars in a club, then there's a damn good chance you have had a totally different upbringing than the stripper you're talking to.

    Many strippers have low expectations because that's all they know.

    For you to have "made it" you may have expected to get into a certain college, drive a certain car, make a certain salary amount per year and live in a certain neighborhood.

    To some strippers, a roof over her head, spending money and a running car are their goals in life.

    It's like the statement I brought up the other day, so many people out there do not live up to their potential and they could, if they just had a little guidance.

    They could at least say they are going to college somewhere.

    I think a lot of them have come from bad places, dysfunctional families. It's an excuse, yes, but one learns life skills from their parents and when the parents aren't good parents, it becomes their reality. You are quite right, shailynn. Juice, I'm going to put some special sauce on your chacken fangers. :)

    Successful people can plan for the future and delay gratification, knowing they will gain more in the future. Dysfunctional people live only for the moment, maximizing their pleasure in the now, with no thought for what tomorrow will bring. By that definition, the vast majority of strippers are dysfunctional. They take a job that pays well for a few years, spend all their money, and don't have a plan for anything beyond today.

    @shai, great post

    I haven't necessarily heard any life stories, but I've heard some parts of their life. This one stripper me her mother was a stripper, claimed her real name was her stage name, and had been dancing only for 9+ straight years. She had kids and one of the baby daddies was fucked up because of too much drugs. Lastly, we got to talking about the business and she said something like you are what you eat or whatever she said. I proceeded to tell her about the stripper in Vegas who became a successful lawyer but died at 50. Her response was that's bullshit, meaning she doesn't even believe that's possible.

    Like shai and other have said it probably mostly due to their upbringing. Some people can use that negative energy and turn it into something truly positive, while other keep moving through life with that negative energy.

    I would make a far better husband than almost every stripper b/f or husband out there, but I'm too smart to get that deeply involved with them. They can only get guys who are not exactly the best catches.

    ^^^ most strippers could not deal with normal or the daily generosity you would bring rockstar. It's like when everything is going right, they are prone to throw a monkey wrench into the well oiled machine because they can't deal with "smooth" and "normal."
