Rock Star: What do you know about Rick Derringer? Besides the McCoys, I know him from the Edgar Winter band around 1970 and from producing some Weird Al videos (such as "Eat It") in the mid-80s.

Mr. Deuce: Derringer is one of hose great 'jam' type guitarists, which is my roots. Blues based, but plays a Strat and I'm a Gibson/Marshall guy. The McCoys is so pop, it was a surprise to find out he played with them; maybe he also felt stifled by their music.

A friend has a Strat that he claims is one of Rick's old guitars and by the look of it it may be, but it's so beat to hell...! Sounds good though, and as a mid 70's example it's a good guitar to have.

Rick did not know the dancer. The video was made for the 1975 remake of Hang On Sloopy by Rick Derringer as a solo artist. The most popular version of the song was in 1965 by The McCoys with Rick Derringer lead singer.
