Anybody know how strippers get hired?

Sunday, March 29, 2015 12:43 PM
Anybody know how strippers get hired? The reason I ask is earlier this week, a rare 10 civilian was escorted in to the club by the bouncer, who lead her to the 'house mom' for further interviewing. Two of my trusted 'spys' have told me she has not started dancing.

In Atlanta, the clubs have lots of working folks: strippers, bartenders, house moms, bouncers, managers, and owners. I would assume if the door gets a new girl that wants to dance, (s)he passes her off to one of the bouncers that show her around, then the bouncers pass her on to the house mom to make sure she has id and permit. Guess the ultimate decision would be with the manager of the club, but if you got good bouncers they would know if the girl would fit. The owner probably has nothing to do with it, as he is too busy counting all the fucking money he is making!

Your experience?

At one club I visit, that is what their amateur contest is for. One of my regular clubs has an off-hours audition they must go through, which is not a guarantee. It probably keeps the ugly dancers away. I have been told the house mom has a lot of sway as to who gets hired there. I suspect a few clubs have girls who walk in and get hired on the spot.

If you spend any time in strip clubs you will see how the process works. Mostly they want the girl to audition in front of a real audience.

So it's looks, but it is also whether or not she knows how to put on a show. Then I think they also have to ascertain whether or not she is ready for the environment.

My own view is that if she comes in with a significant other, then that will count against her.

Some places use their amateur contests as the audition. Not necessary to win the contest, but she does have to put on a good show.

Then of course the tips they get are theirs to keep. At the Brass Rain in Sunnyvale they have had such contests for years. Some girls come from the other clubs just to get that one turn, on each of the four stages, so 8 songs total, because the tips will be good.

Also there are usually some hookers who come into the club under the cover of the contest.

I've heard that it is sometimes a matter of who they blow. :)

I dunno, but it seems the standards for hiring is really low right now.

    They "just ask":

The DS called the club and was told to stop by in the afternoon. Then she talked to a house mom, did a stage set, and she was hired. She didn't have to blow anyone (except me, when she started making serious $).

I think it would depend on the club. I think in most clubs, they often are stuck with the girls who ask to work there. Many clubs get new dancers by recruiting friends of current dancers. IMO, only higher end clubs in larger metro areas would have a large enough talent pool to have the issue of down selecting who they will allow to work.

The question really should be who has the authority to hire and fire? Any manager or only the owner or the men's room troll?

I miss amateur contests, as we have NONE in Atlanta. Occasionally will see new girl do a set between day and night shift, when the club is very slow.

Considering the men's room troll is making fortune selling single cigarettes to the girls, I don't think he would have any fired ... except the non-smokers.

Here in Detroit, there are several agencies that will staff the clubs (and bars and nightclubs) with dancers, shot girls, etc. I know girls who started off as nightclub go-go dancers and were then recommended by their agency to strip clubs, usually with a pitch that goes, 'try it because you'll love the money you make'. Apparently, these agencies have full-on corporate offices where auditions are held and have on-site tanning beds, make-up and hair stylists. They also provide some semblance of health insurance as well as housing setups for girls not from the area. In turn, this system has implications on who the clubs hire as managers, as I've talked to a guy who claims to be a partner of an agency.

I too often wondered about the process and if the girls had to get nude for the manager in order for him to asses her “qualifications”.

But I suppose it may not be too rigorous or uncomfortable of a process b/c I don’t recall any dancers ever complaining to me about it nor have read any particular disparaging comments on SW.

I agree with shadowcat. Also some are hired if they do a good job during the amateur night contest

I once took my ATF to a club in Key West. We stopped by in the early afternoon and she danced that night. She only talk to the manager, a woman. She made good money that one evening. In my opinion, not only beautiful, but in South Florida a rarity, Asian.

It seems the only requirement these days is to pay the house fees and tip out. Definitely a low bar in clubs I frequent.

At a couple of clubs I'm familiar with, a good-looking would-be dancer is invited to dance on stage right around opening time, when there are few custies. If the manager likes what he sees, she's hired. "Hired" means scheduled for one shift, and then it's day by day or week by week, and they can give her the axe any time they like.

It all depends on the club. I know of a club (actually more of a go go bar) that they knew one of the dancers and they got them an interview with the owner. Interview was basically telling them about the club and explaining the rules, and they were dancing later that day. I know anouther club that is in a college town and you can always tell when a new semester in is because about 2 weeks in young pretty girls start showing up asking the bartender how they can get a job, in which case here is check the ID, explain the rules, and show up tomorrow night. Other higher end clubs I know use amatuer nights looking for talent or try to "poach" better dancers from other clubs. I knew one club a few years back the manager actually called escorts from backpage and Craigslist offering them a more "legitimate" option to their profession (that place was fun). Best thing to do is just ask a dancer how she got hired, usually a great story, and if anything is a good ice-breaker for a conversation.

As someone mentioned earlier, here in Detroit, most girls get hired at the strip clubs through an "agency".

There are a few in the area that actually go to regular dance clubs/bars in the metro area and recruit girls from the bars for talent. Almost all the girls I've known have an "agent" who places them with different strip clubs in the area.
Also, if the strip club is in The Detroit city limits, the girls have to get a license. I believe it's called a Cabaret license. From what I hear, it's between $150 and $200 and has to be renewed yearly. If the club isn't in the Detroit city limits, the dancer doesn't need a dancers license.
So the agency helps the girls get set up with that and then the placement at the clubs when the managers of the SC's need new girls.

^I've heard of similar arrangements in Atlanta clubs, except that the "agents" are called pimps.

Calling escorts from backpage and Craigslist to recruit sounds very creative. Wish my SC managers were creative.

I would assume they have to take a oral exam, and the owner is one who administers the exam.

JohnSmith69 no disrespect but I suspect DS is blowing other guys! I suspect she finds the money brilliant!

@VeryBig Dawg: C/L prostitutes are generally low quality and have worse social problems that the average dancer. In general they are to be avoided, although I've met high quality civi girls on C/L that turned into real relationships. B/P runs the whole gamut; most 'quality' girls there have danced at one time but are now a bit too fat or old. The few talented ones there are well aware of the clubs and opportunities they offer. If I owned a club I wouldn't use either to source girls.
