Umm, no. Not necessarily. There are many clubs open to the public. Long ago I went a few times to the Red Rooster in Vegas, and there are a bunch more there. San Francisco also has some, and I'm sure there are many more around the US. Open to just about anyone. Nothing secret or special about them. And generally open to single males, but I recall I had to pay more than couples or women for admission.

The whole thing about Thads is that you go in and have a fun time meeting folks discretly. Males are naked, women can be or no more than lingerie is allowed. LOCKERS WITH LOCKS ARE PROVIDED FOR FREE. There is a nice pool, jacuzzi, BYOB bar, free food, water and sodas. Stripper pole and dance floor for all women and men to have fun teasing others. A pool table and plenty of seating all around inside and outdoors. Sundays are really fun open from noon to midnight. BBQ food and lots of folks enjoy sunning naked by the pool playing, drinking and eating. There are lots of clean beds all through the house and back club house. A massage table etc... Open Wednesday until Saturday at 4pm and most days close at 3am. Set schedules are on the outdated website www.thads.com Women return for free anytime. Men if you bring a female with you the total charge is only $30 before 9pm. After 9pm it doubles. Bring your own towel or borrow a clean one for only $5. Normally there is a 1 fem to 2 men racio. The public clubs are designed for couples to hook up AND to take the money of single guys. That's why they often have a separate area for women and couples.
The private clubs are where you generally find more attractive people but obviously this takes some knowledge to get involved in. Again not geared towards single men.
The women at swingers clubs are hornier than the men. They really get off on it. But then they are married. They look down on strippers and escorts. The most important thing in a swing club is that the women not be getting paid. Where this has been violated, it always leads to problems.
Now this Thads in San Diego that mikeya02 posted about is famous for letting lots of single men in. But sometimes the ratio is so high, that most go home getting nothing. Also, that sort of ratio turns the women off. High percentage of military men and black men.

At some clubs kind of on the border between Swingers and pay for play, there will be one woman paid by the house. Her job is to make sure everyone goes home happy. But this is not the common practice.
Most swingers clubs are completely controlled by well off married people, and the women have absolute power. They are really elitist. When you read their stuff, or stuff about them, this always comes through.
There is to an extent a newer generation of Swing clubs coming on where the people are younger and not always married. But even in these clubs it is couples only.
I speak here of Club Kiss in San Francisco and Club Orage in Montreal. There may be others.
The most typical fees are $60 couples, $100 single men, and $20 for women.
So the best way is just to get to know some of the people, and then get paired up with one of their women, and go to one of these newer types of more open minded clubs not dominated by married and elitist people.
I do not think it a good idea at all to go to one of these clubs single, looking to get laid. It does not work well.
Many of those who go to swingers clubs have zero sex, or only sex with the person who brought them. This seeing and being seen has a powerful effect on people. For that reason alone, the experience can be worth it. But I would not want to go as a single male, and I would not want to go to one of these clubs dominated by married people.
The ask before touching rule is absolute!! They want this, in order to make it safe for the women to parade around naked. You have to go along with it. If it were me, I might just try offering my hand to a woman and then leading her to sit on my thigh. That way I have complied with the rule, and I've been very laid back about it too. But I have not actually had to speak a question to her.

No, I don't think most strip club patrons would like swing clubs. Strippers are more fun than the swing club women. At a strip club you are in charge, you are king, you can dress anyway you want. At a swing club you are there to try and impress snooty women.
