[OT] Favorite Bond Movie?
Dougster
I like the newer ones with Daniel Craig. Casino Royale would be my favorite.
(The last one, Skyfall, however, was not only real fruitcake but a real yawner. Hopefully they can get the series back on track!)

Many of the older ones I've never seen
"Goldfinger"
But as I said earlier, I like Roger Moore, so honorable mention to "To Live and Let Die" and "The Man With the Golden Gun"
2. Casino Royale. The second one with Daniel Craig. Great plot, minimal special effects, HOT Bond girl. Does anyone see a pattern here?
3. Gold finger. Mostly for this scene:
Bond, about to be cut in half by an industrial laser starting at his man parts, "Do you expect me to talk?"
Goldfinger, "Why no, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die.
Honorable mention for the bayou boat chase in Live and Let Die.
1. “The Living Daylights”/“License to Kill”
The two Dalton flicks are at the top and are equal in my eyes. Dalton was the Best Bond, and the one who most closely resembled the character in the book.
2. “A View to a Kill”
3. “Goldeneye”
4. “You Only Live Twice”
5. “The Man with the Golden Gun”
Honorable Mention: “Die Another Day” for basically being a Bond movie as envisioned by a 12-year-old. Windsurfing on a tsunami. A machine that turns Asian people into White people with no accent. An invisible car that can do a flip.
Love the scenes in Vegas from way way back in the day before modern construction on the strip. Plus, love Jill St. John as Tiffany Case. Remember Plenty O'toole (named after your father, no doubt)?
I'm a huge Bond aficionado. My list:
1. Casino Royale: Always skeptical of a new Bond, but Craig hit it out of the park with this one. The sequence at Miami Airport was epic.
2. Goldfinger: Connery at his best. Oddjob is one of the best Bond villains. And one can never get enough of Pussy Galore.
3. Die Another Day: Halle Berry in a bikini is worth the price of admission, but this was a terrific story.
Rounding out the top 10:
4. Goldeneye.
5. Moonraker
6. From Russia with Love.
7. Octopussy.
8. Dr. No.
9. Diamonds Are Forever.
10. Quantum of Solace.
Who is your favorite Bond?
I do have a preference for the Bond actors though. I grew up with Bond being polished and sophisticated. Roger Moore and Sean Connery were great. Pierce Brosnan was OK. But not really a fan of Daniel Craig, although I still would never miss any of his movies.
I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond, slight edge over Sean Connery, with Pierce Brosnan third. Roger Moore, who I refer to as the "Country Club Bond" after that. I'd rate Timothy Daly last (not counting George Lazenby, who starred in only one Bond flick).
I see there's a thread on Bond girls, too. Too many hot ones to choose from. I'll have to think about that.
1) Dalton - hard-edged without being dour like Craig, and I think he really looked the part.
2) Brosnan - Brosnan was born to play Bond. No one ever looked quite as comfortable in a suit, and he was able to do seduction and humor equally with ease. I only give the edge to Dalton, because Dalton was bee to capture the hardness and menace of Bond the best.
3) Connery - the most naturally charismatic, and most iconic Bond. Had a rough edge that made the fight scenes believable. My main issue with Connery was that he always seemed like he was giving 50% effort with his acting - especially in his later films - and I think it really showed.
4) Moore - I actually like Roger Moore. Very charming and smooth, and he had the best comedic timing. Absolutely zero intimidation factor, but he had good stuntmen to carry some of the physicality of the role.
5) Lazenby - His performance in OHMSS was one of a game amateur. If he had more movies to flesh out the role he might have been a pretty good Bond, but we only have the one film to judge him on.
6) Craig - I'm the minority here, but I'm not a fan of Craig. He's a great actor, but just not a very good Bond. He doesn't look the part of a tall, dark, and handsome leading man. He never convinced me that he could seduce any of the women he was with. He also tries a little too hard. He's always swaggering around with stiff posture, and he doesn't have the easy charms of most of the other Bonds. I have just been never impressed.
Regardless, it's brilliant!
