I'm a huge sports fan...but sometimes my desire to go to a strip club to see my current fave outranks sports. So I appreciate being able to check out a score if it's an important game I'm interested in.
But outside of that, it's not really important at all. Though next Saturday night is Notre Dame vs. Michigan State @ 8 pm. I'll probably be at a club, so I can partially watch it.
Actually, it is pretty depressing when I look at the TVs and not the naked or nearly naked girls. So TVs in clubs are not important, but do have a purpose if there is not a hottie on stage or on my lap.
In my set of articles on club design I said that they signal a lack of faith in your dancers. "Yes we know our naked women aren't much to look at, but maybe you want to hang around to watch this golf game".
Now, I realize that there are certain sports events that simply can't be ignored or you have an empty club...the super bowl, world series, world cup, etc. So for these use a projected TV onto a temporary screen or a wall painted with material that makes a good projection surface (like zolatone lluminations) Then on those days have a specific sports event and do not have a stage show but let your dancers just walk around selling dances.
I enjoy watching certain sports at the clubs. I'll always watch my Detroit Tigers, especially now as the season closes and the race for the division tightens.
When there's little action in the club either on or off stage I might look at them. When I am over there they are always showing sport, mainly either baseball of American football, neither of which I ever have a clue what's happening so they don't grab my attention for long.
I want them there and to be easily visible. The break up the boredom that occasionally happens and on one or two occasions I've enjoyed watching sporting events broken up by the occasional lap dance.
I don't care much one way or the other. Today I was at my favorite club which has two TV screens against one wall. It was nice to be able to check the football scores on one TV and the golf scores on the other. I was surprised that more customers seemed to be watching the golf match than the local (Falcons) football game.
At PP in Columbia they have a large screen just to the right of the main stage. It is kind of nice to be able to watch that when a fuglie appears on stage. Because of the location it just requires a slight tilt of the head and you can return to stage viewing when the next hottie appears.
Superdude-
There are places where they do show porn loops. I know that the Hollywood club in ESL has them, but there's at least 3 places I know about which show porn on the TV.
As for sports on TV at the strip club, its always nice to watch if the dancers are boring you, but I've also made the mistake of being in Lawrence, KS the night the KU Jayhawks were playing in the Final Four and even the dancers were watching the game at the one club I went to there that day.
Seems most guys like them or don't mind them being there so they can check sports scores, etc., which is why they'll probably remain hanging on the walls of my favorite strip clubs.
I'm of the opposite mind. TVs are always an intrusion unless the point of my watching is to watch it, like with a video movie at home. Otherwise, TVs in restaurants, sky clubs, bars, bathrooms, and strip clubs are a nuisance and distracting. In fact, if I'm out somewhere and nobody's particularly watching a TV, I'll turn it off and enjoy the quiet release of its absence.
I like catching scores and highlights...but my go to club doesn't tend to the TVs once they're turned on to start the day and my late night visits a filled with infomercials playing, which is totally lame.
If my favorite team is playing, I like to watch the game and the dancers or check the scores. Most of the time, the only reason to watch the tv is because of a cool music video that goes along with the song the dancer on stage is dancing to. I'll watch her and the videos at the same time.
It’s usually hard for me to focus on the TV/game w/ naked women walking around – plus, I don’t enjoy watching TV, especially a game, w/o the sound.
OTH, Tootsies in Miami has a large separate sports bar (connected to the main room) named “Knockers†where one can watch and listen to games on 6 100-inch projector TVs. It’s a cool place to catch a game as one can go back and forth b/w the main room and the sports bar and get the best of both worlds.
They are not important. In fact I find them kind of distracting. But yes, if there is an important game on or if I come across a score that I find interesting, I will whip my head away from the stripper to catch that, unfortunately.

Because of that, I routinely sit where I can watch both the stage and a big screen tv tuned to ESPN.
