Fashion Consultant to Dancers who Can't Dress

HonestT
Has this ever happened to you? You sit down to survey all of the dancers, and eliminate some from your list because they look bad in their stripperwear?

On a recent two day binge, I took 4 girls off they list because they looked horrible in their outfits. But once they got undressed on stage I was attracted to them. In my recent experience, it was for the following reasons.

1) Corset tops on flat chested girls. This just looks bad. If your cleavage is just flat skin, wear something else.
2) Dresses that have droopy cutouts of fabric hanging on the boobs. It makes them look like they have saggy boobs. I can stay home and see that.
3) Dresses that expose the back, but are baggy around the stomach. These dresses make the dancers look pregnant. It seems like everytime I go to a club with lots of girls working, that at least one is a preggo, and still dancing. This is her default outfit.

How do you politely tell a dancer that she looks terrible, yet make it sound like constructive criticism?

You just named all the outfit I wear regularly at work...

... but I seem to be making pretty decent money. So I guess I'll just keep doing what works for me?

I have literally told some dancers before that I wasn't getting dances from them because I didn't like their costumes. My current taste in dancers' costumes really seems to be contrary to what they're wearing these days. I'd have to say that for the most part, I don't like a lot of dancers' costumes right now. Basic two-pieces costumes, or standard lingerie-type costumes work very well, but few dancers seem to wear them anymore.

Happens all the time. Some women know what clothes enhance their physique, some don't. Same with men.

There are also girls that attract other men that you may find repulsive. Just move on to somebody that doesn't offend your fashion sensibilities.

If she asks you if you like her outfit, just tell her you prefer her naked!

@rfcookie: Uh, I think you could wear a burlap sack and still have us drooling over you...

Some outfits will attract my attention, but I can't honestly say that a girl's outfit has made me cross her off my list. Clothes are so ephemeral; it's *her* that counts.

I don't spend a lot time critiquing the outfits, but now that you mention it, the girls who are trying to hide their bellies are a turn-off to me. Definitely gives the impression they've got something to hide. Another one I don't care for is the school girl look on a girl who has obviously been out of school for a number of years.

Off with their heads!

I don't worry about their outfits much. The problem with saying anything about this topic for me is that you have to go on a case-by-case basis and what looks good on one dancer looks bad on another. I also know I once criticized a dancer for her outfit once and I spent the rest of my short time at that club being avoided totally.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Haha about the South Park clip. I guess paying women for time and xxxtras doesn't get me the benefit of the doubt. The outfit makes a huge difference when choosing between 7-8 girls who all want your money, but have similar appearances.

I loved that comment about older dancers wearing schoolgirl outfits.

I brought up this topic because I passed on a dancer who looked pregnant and saggy at the time I saw her walk around, yet she was really pretty. I saw her walk from the stage to the dressing room in only her thong, and she looked great! I wanted to tell her, but I had my hands full at the time.

Maybe if I see her again, I'll come up with a polite way to tell her how to not look pregnant.

Reading this topic made me think of my ATF. One afternoon I arrived at the club awaiting her. She arrived, said her hellos, and went back to get ready for work. She comes out in this "Corset" outfit. HOT DAMN!!! And no Honest, she is not one of the "flat chested girls".

Anyway, a bit later she leaves our table to do her 3 song stage set. The typical set is one song just dancing, one topless, and the third nude. After the first song she starts to go topless then motions me to the stage. She can't get the damn corset off, so asks me to help. I did.

After her set she tells me that is the last time for that outfit. Couldn't get out of it easily. I asked her, how she got it on. Another girl helped, she replied. Guess she didn't play that in reverse. I wish she hadn't retired that outfit.

Don't count on it. A few years ago I was specifically asked by a hot dancer - who was wearing an unflattering (way too tight in the wrong places) bra/boy shorts combo - to tell her what was wrong with her outfit. She was insistent and demanded honesty. So I, gently - carefully, suggested that maybe her outfit did not highlight her best qualities. She immediately started crying, then ran to the dressing room and never again came near me!

My personal favorite is strippers wearing cheap, pink thigh high fishnets that are 2 sizes too small for their thighs! Bulging over the tops!

Che,

I thought maybe you were talking about my ATF until the "Latina" part. My ATF is all Asian, without doubt. :)

Che,

I must admit, with the dearth of Asians in South Florida, my current fave is Colombian. vm knows her as well.

HonestT:

Don't ever criticize a dancers outfit. Always praise their body and beauty. With any luck, you will see their body soon enough. Paying for one dance never bankrupted anyone.

A costume that covers the stomach is a yellow flag for me. It usually signifies stretch marks from childbirth or a gut.

I hate all of the porn where the girl pulls down her top to reveal her breasts but leaves it covering her midsection. Get naked.

A stripper needs a fashion consultant? isn't the goal to not be wearing anything

One of the hottest "costumes" I've see a stripper wear was a plain white man's Oxford shirt, with nothing underneath it. That was hot as hell.

I know one dancer who wears tennis shoes on stage instead of stripper shoes. She gets crap from other girls but doesn't care because she makes more money that way

I like two pieces and that's all I wear. Im a very harsh critic of myself and anything that makes me look out of proportion gets sold. I have a person that hand makes all my outfits, I just pick the fabric. Since I ordered them, I don't send them back to her but some fabrics look better on the roll than on the body. After I try it on I realize I look......I don't know...something that I don't like. I can't explain it but I end up having to sell it

Gently refer them to this site. Don't offer to buy her anything, though

I don't know how I could forget this, but my first ATF made the majority of her outfits. She used to do certain routines in certain outfits, which would probably be out of place in strip clubs today. She always looked sexy to me no matter what her outfit, at least in her younger years.

I also used to have a favorite who would wear tennis shoes on stage once in a while. She used to wear regular clothes on stage and then strip to just her tennies. For my money, one of the best looks is a girl only wearing tennis shoes.

@gmd - I've tried that, but the girls keep fighting their way out...

I agree with Dallas702 that there is no tactful way to tell a dancer an outfit looks bad.

A better approach would be to wait until she's in a more flattering outfit, then tip her extra at the stage and let her know how nice she looks. Dancers are more likely to take the hint if it comes with a few dollars.

steve,

Most always, positive reinforcement has better results than constructive criticism. Constructive criticism, an oxymoron in my opinion!

$$$$ are ALWAYS positive. :)

I frequently have dancers asking me how I like the new outfit she is wearing. Wether or not I like it, I always say I do. WTF, once I have seen them in their birthday suits, what difference does it make, what they are wearing today.

Thanks for the additional comments, guys. I knew there were others like me. I'll take the advice that constructive criticism will not likely be well received. I was really tempted because I passed on a pretty dancer that looked pregnant and saggy in her black dress. Yet with only a G-string on, she wasn't flabby, saggy, or pregnant. Just a little curvy.

@SuperDude : That site has some really hot models! Oh and the clothes are nice too.

@TravelGuy10 : That comment about the too tight, pink fishnets is priceless. The only acceptable bulges on a dancer are her bewbs and ass.

I try not to ever criticize a dancer's outfit unless she ticked me off and I'm not usually thinking about saying anything that would help her if she ticked me off.

I think what is important is how she looks when she is dancing for me naked or half naked. If those clothes come off and she looks great I won't say anything unless she asks. If she asks it could be a trick question. If she has more than one outfit, I may say one outfit looks ok but I really think she looks much better in the red outfit.

One of my favorites used to wear an outfit I thought made her look trashy with a big fat butt. Maybe some guys like the fatty butt look but I thought it was one of the worst outfits she could wear. She lost a few pounds and changed outfits. Wow, what a difference I thought. I believe any change would have dramatically improved her appearance and it did. I guess some guys may like the street walker look on a stripper but I don't believe it was helping her attract the guys she wanted.

I didn't want to buy her an outfit or tell her how to dress so I never said anything. I want clothes off anyway. Most dancers seem to change their outfits a lot anyway. If she spent several hundred dollars on an outfit trying to make herself look good, I wouldn't want to make her feel bad either unless I absolutely hated it and didn't care.
