No More 'Jiggles', Strip Club Ordered To Shut Down
A King County judge granted the City¿s request to close Jiggles, a strip club at 5220 University Way NE in Seattle.

SEATTLE
There won't be any 'Jiggles' in the Roosevelt neighborhood any longer. A King County judge granted the City's request to close Jiggles, a strip club at 5220 University Way NE in Seattle.

City officials say the location of the strip club violated zoning buffer requirements because it was located within 800 feet of a school, child care center, community center and public park.

Jiggles opened last December.

The Superior Court judge rejected the First Amendment argument made by Jiggles' owner Bob Davis.

The judge ruled that as long as its zoning rules are reasonable, the City has a right to disperse adult cabarets throughout the City.

But, but, but what about the employees??? There just aren't enough placers for dancers to perform at in The Emerald City...

Also out west is LAX/COI. The LAX clubs are subject to community rules while the COI is an industrial area where not enough people live there to raise any concerns about their SCs.

Shadow for the type of club we enjoy they might as well be 0. That includes Vancouver, BC and Seattle. This is truly strip club hell. Jiggles had a chance to be different not quite what Rick's used to be but at least it had potential. Call me for the next convention.

Such bullshit. There is a chance that the owner, Bob Davis, will open up the Rick's building- which is obviously zoned properly, and has been sitting idle for almost a year.

But still... the people of Seattle don't care about this stuff- as evidenced by the 4-foot-rule getting shot down by the voters themselves- and it's a very small and very vocal minority (and politicians who think this is an easy win and point in their favor) that tries to shut down all strip clubs.

Well, there's always the escorts...

There's the downtown Vu, the downtown "Little Darlings" (eh, it's another Vu), the Lake City Vu, and the SafeCo field "Dreamgirls" (eh, it's also a Vu). There's also the independents, the shameful Centerfolds (a total dive), Sands (high mileage, but weird club and older women unless things have changed), and the Dancing Bare (apparently a crack whore hangout).

So we have 7 clubs, 4 owned by the McDonalds of strip clubs where the women't aren't hot but have SUCH an attitudee, and 3 poorly run indies of wildly varying mileage and pretty low-caliber talent.

Basically, this place is a wasteland.

Call me suspicious, but I don't think Bob Davis wants to operate strip clubs when there is more money in suing city governments. Just a preclude to another lawsuit.

Looked to me like Davis was pretty serious in the way he ran Jiggles. Maintained a nice place. Hired former Honey's and Rick's employees as managers.

Sounds like he is going to get a chance to re-open Rick's. I always thought he was just Jiggles as a warm up for that and leverage to get it.

Happy days shall return to Seattle!

I'm aware of his having a business license at the former Rick's address. Anyone can apply for a business license and probably get it, but, the big question is can he get a lease on the building or buy the property ??? If you look at the Rick's building currently, it clearly has stickers on the doors and elsewhere proclaiming ownership by the U.S. Marshall. I sense that with all that the feds and local LE agencies went through to close all of the former Talents West's clubs, that they will resist making the properties available to subsequent strip club owners. Just my thoughts. Does anyone else out there see an opportunity for Rick's or any of the other TW properties to realistically reopen as strip clubs ?

Well sure they probably want to keep it closed, but a couple of things: There is alot of money in the name to be made from selling it; and do they have a good legal case to block it? Davis has won cases before for not legally being denied a license. He's a smart guy. I think his chance are good.

Dougster, Thanks for your observation about Davis' past history. I forgot to take that into consideration. However, in this instance he has to deal with the federal government, first, to either purchase or lease the property. I sense that will be more difficult than dealing with a local property owner, especially if the feds don't want a subsequent strip club on the property.

His lawsuits were against two cities: Seattle and Bothell. This is a different situation. Should the feds agree to sell or lease to him, then he has to go back to the city of Seattle for all permits needed. He only had a business license to operate Jiggles. The city maintained that Davis also needed an adult cabaret license which the city said Davis had not appled for. Apparently the judge agreed, and very quickly. By 10:20 a.m. the morning he went to court, the Seattle Post-Intellegencer (on line) had an article about the case. Once he's dealing with the city, then he's back to his usual battlefield. What do you think? Feel free to PM me if you think this is getting too detailed for the general TUSCL readership.
