No, they wish to end "legal" prostitution, and all the tax revenue that goes with it. They'll have no effect at all on prostitution in general except to make it less safe in those area where it's regulated now.

lol, my only thought is that all the debitcrat lovers can't blame the gop on this one. ;)

Does that mean politicians won't take campaign donations?

Talking about legal prostitution in Nevada, have any of you been to Moonlite Bunny Ranch? Is that the same thing as those SCs in Tijuana, Mexico? Or it's simple brothel, without stage/dance?

I can't blame the democrats or the gop for this one. All I see is Harry Reid, who is a democrat....and a human. Could have titled this "Humans wish to to end prostitution in Nevada". Or could have left the title like it was "Harry Reid: ‘The time has come for us to outlaw prostitution". I doubt a majority of any political party would support this, Reid is just making noise.

What a stupid idea. The safest place to inlist the services of a prostitute is in the 10 counties of Navada where its leagle.

Probably shouldn't have put it on TV in "Cathouse". Too much publicity backfired. Although I don't think it is likely to get done

nengneng, I've been to the one outside Carson City. It has been many years, but it is a basic brothel setup. They buzz you in, the prostitutes do a lineup, you pick the one you want, negotiate with them for price and service and go back to their rooms.

Much of "Navada" is poor soil ill-suited for farming. Thereby once you get outside of the cities, there's nothing there. No neighbors to upset, and why the brothels are mobile trailers just deposited on land no one will miss.

nengneng, there was an HBO special on the Moonlite Bunny Ranch that showed what it was like inside. Seems too expensive. One customer paid $50,000 to spend a weekend with one of the call girls.

Nengneng, a lot those brothels are mostly for very rich customers. A lot of the girls at the Bunny Ranch are former or current famous porn stars, models, etc. They even have a helicopter landing pad for guys who want to fly in. Others are more reasonable and you can have a session for something like $250. I've never been to Nevada, but I did think about going once and read a lot about how the brothels work. While they don't have a stage or stripper pole, most do have a bar area. The guides I read suggested that you don't choose at the lineup and just go to the bar for a while. The girls will approach you and converse/try to get you to go back with them, just like a stripper with a VIP date, it sounded like.

Harry Reid just got re-elected. It'll be at least five years and eleven months until they get rid of this asshole. Why won't people in Nevada get a fucking clue ?

I wish they'd legalize it throughout the US. It would be safer for all involved and a new source of income for the ole IRS. Canada has legalized it and it seems to work well for them. Check out some of the escort sites for Toronto. $250 will get you an hour with a pretty good looking woman!

Prim0, Canada didn't legalize prostitution, it's just not illegal there. It is still illegal to be a pimp ie. living of the proceeds of a prostitute, and running a baudy house, which is why a lot of the escorts in Canada are outcall. The baudy house part is on hold for a bit due to a judge's ruling, but a lot of the escorts in Canada still prefer outcall.

Harry Reid is a Mormon, what the heck do you expect? The Mormon minority in Nevada regularly pushes through a ballot initiative to outlaw prostitution in Nevada.

"Why won't people in Nevada get a fucking clue ?" Because like many people in America, they haven't felt enough pain from the old school leaders running this country.

Wild idea: Legalize prostitution, regulate it by location only and tax it. Also, impose a temporary deficit reduction tax on every email message, blog, tweet or link use of $0.05. Yeah, one nickel everytime you send a message or open a link. The tax expires, automatically in 5 years. The U.S. government's budget would be balanced if we did these two things.

^^^ No it wouldn't. They'd just increase expenditures to match the "income".

"Why won't people in Nevada get a fucking clue ?" LOL...I'm no fan of Harry Reid, but look at the dingbat that the GOP chose to run against him! She didn't have a chance to beat him in 2010.

How can anyone believe the dems are about liberty? They are for larger central government. That means more control over individuals' lives, less freedom for the individual. All leftist ideologies are anti-liberty by design, and anti-American by definition. Certain laws are required for orderly society, and one can argue which laws those are, but none can remain constantly naive about big-government types.

how: I hope you're not naively blaming *just* democrats for the reductions in liberty. Republicans have done at least as much as democrats to degrade freedom. Democrats are at least more intellectually honest about what they are trying to do, if not why they doing it; republicans sneak around *talking* about smaller government and then end up doing much the same thing as the democrats anyway. The two parties only differ with regard to *which* aspects of our lives they want to control, not about the control itself, or the degree to which they want it.

"They are for larger central government. That means more control over individuals' lives" No, it really doesn't "how", but what else is new eh? --------------------------- "how: I hope you're not naively blaming *just* democrats for the reductions in liberty." Yea, he really is, because that's his tired, old MO...over & over & over again...despite any hard facts to the contrary...ugh...

Actually, I blame leftists. I mentioned "dems" based on the thread-title, and the fact that they have far more leftists than the repubs. But large central government is large central government under any name, and is explicitly opposed to the principles of liberty on which America was founded. (No, the opposite extreme -- anarchy -- is NOT the solution. Read the writings of the founders for the solution.)

We're living "the solution" "how"...but you'll never realize that, ever, unfortunately.

MG, do you suggest liberty is being restored rather than eroded?
  • MisterGuy

We live in a representative democracy, and that's what the Founders gave this country in our U.S. Constitution. They gave us this after the failed experiment of the Articles of Confederation, which did not have a strong central government. What you long for "how" simply hasn't existed in what we have called the USA since 1789. Get over it man...

^^^ no we are a representative republic. The United States of America is a republic. A republic is a form of government in which there are laws that limit the powers of government. The United States is NOT a democracy. A democracy is where the majority rules. This is often without regard for the rights of the minority.
  • MisterGuy

"no we are a representative republic." LOL...that's like saying you live on the left left-hand side of the street. A republic is "a state in which the supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them." In other words, it's a representative democracy. [view link] Try again moron...
