(NewsCore) - It was "Pretty Woman" without the Hollywood ending for a
Manhattan, N.Y., real-estate developer who tried to save a wayward escort by giving her more than $100,000 to start a new life, but now claims he was conned, the New York Post reported Sunday.
The businessman, who filed a suit last week in the Manhattan Supreme Court, claims he was conned as the woman took the money but then went back to her old tricks.
Robert Brot, 57, says he met Lindsey DeLeon, 26, on a dating website in
October 2008, fell in love and wanted to marry her.
He knew she had two kids, was deep in debt and turned to stripping and
escort work to make ends meet, but wanted to help her, the lawsuit said.
But unlike those of Julia Roberts' call girl with a heart of gold, DeLeon's intentions were driven by greed alone, the suit charges.
Brot helped her move from Wyoming so they could live together and agreed to pay for her to go to school so she could build a career in real estate.
The understanding was that DeLeon would repay him once she was earning
money on her own, the suit says.
In February 2009, she told him that she needed to return home to Oklahoma to deal with a family issue, and Brot agreed to pay for her to move back, the suit says.
In March of last year, DeLeon got a job in Tulsa, Okla. -- as a stripper, according to the suit.
A concerned Brot told her that if she married him he would waive the debt. DeLeon agreed that until she made her decision she would not escort again. But by July she was selling herself and this time Brot turned his back on her, the suit alleges.
Brot says he forked over $118,061 to DeLeon during their brief affair --
$105,380 of which she still owes him.
He is suing for the return of the outstanding loan plus interest and legal fees.

He is a PL but I think the ultimate PL award goes to that CEO who sued Scores for $240,000 for his ONE single night there and then he ended up losing his CEO job because of the bad press.
stripper loan = oxymoron
