Strip clubs attached to adult shops

Saturday, March 13, 2010 10:42 PM
Here in Columbus we have a couple of adult stores attached to strip clubs. These strip clubs tend to be low mileage and overpriced. Examples: Private Dancer attached to porn shop...and Cols Gold attached to Adam and Eve adult shop. It sounds like a good idea in theory but it does not seem to work out. I think a while ago they had a promotion if you bought something at the adult store you could use your receipt to get free admission to the SC next door. Or the SC would sell some merchandise of the adult store or use it as a giveaway. Any one else have experience with visiting these places?

Yeah. There are 2 strip clubs (same ownership) that share a very large building with a huge novelty shop/stripper clothing store in Portland. There are fairly private booths in the clubs with decent mileage, but you go out and enter the adult store and the girl will meet you there. 60 to the creepy guy at the counter and 100 to the girl and you get 1/2 hour anything goes in a locked room. There are a few places like this in Portland, where there is a separate building on the property. Same deal everywhere 60/100 for 1/2 hour undisturbed. Ironically, the majority of clubs are the absolute lamest I've ever been to. NO touching. Tips are placed on the rail ONLY. Lap dances are all AIR. Yet you can drive down the street and find a straight-up whorehouse next to a club, or a 'lingerie modeling studio' or any of the many book stores. It's so prevalent, I'm guessing you could get a hand-job at 7-11. Weird...

"Any one else have experience with visiting these places?" Mostly I've seen this at jack shacks that were masquerading as adult stores. There were a few strip clubs in the Albany, NY area and in RI or VT that had small adult stores associated with the actual strip clubs.

LOL MG, inside the private dancer it did reek of semen and semen stains on the couches. Not to mention the diseased pussy.

MisterGay: "Mostly I've seen this at jack shacks that were masquerading as adult stores. " Way too much of your life is centered around strip clubs there, buddy.

The recent city (Houston) court victory means that strip clubs with an adjacent porn shop are no more as only one sex oriented business every third of a mile-given that the business is also a third of a mile from schools, playgrounds, day care centers, etc. As for the theory of lower mileage-depends on the city. Houston Dolls was adjacent to a porn shop (now closed) and Dolls was often a bordello in disguise. I haven't been to San Diego since 1985. With that said, the Body Shop is adjacent to Les Girls, adjacent to a large porn store. I never got a lapper there as the best you could get in the early 80's was a air dance from 4 to 5 feet away. I'm not going to pay 20 bucks to see what I can see onstage for free. The same went for the other SC's of the times-Roaring Twenties and Broadway (both now gone-bought out for real estate development).

In some places the bookstore is an add on to get around local zoning restrictions. An adult entertainment facility is reclassifed as general entertainment if there is a bookstore, art gallery or some other "educational" business as part of the overall operation. The threshold is usually 20%. So you have these place with 20% of the floor space set aside as a bookstore. Now it's in a different and less restricted or regulated zoning category. Go figure.

In ESL, the Larry Flynt's Hustler Club was like that and I assume the other ones like that would be as well. That place was easily the worst of the three I went to in ESL. I know that in Ottawa, Illinois, you have to go past a porn shop to get to the Silver Slipper, but I believe they are technically separate businesses. But that place is one way contact, although there is eye candy there. The only other one I am familiar with is the now departed Emerald in St. Joe, MO. You would go through the store in order to get to the club. I never thought much of it even though they had some hotties there, because they were always trying to get you to buy the lady a drink. What it all means, to me, is that most of the time when you have a strip club and a porn shop together, it's probably going to be a weak club.

There was a long-time SC near LAX that recently closed that had an adult store attached. You had to pass through it to exit the facility. Kinda reminded me of the overpriced gift shops at Disneyland that they force you to go through after a ride. I always chuckled at that thought as I was walking through the store. Gotta admit, tho, that they did have a huge assortment of DVD's and sex props.
