Sometimes I love themes, sometimes I hate 'em. The "young college girl" or "girl next door" theme is excellent in most contexts, because it essentially ensures that the dancer has a very young, lithe, supple, probably small-titted, perky-titted body. This is the type of body I prefer. However, it also means that maybe they'll put Winne The Pooh wallpaper on the private rooms, or expect you to suck on a candy lollipop, or something else which would feel, to me, too puerile and pre-pubescent and therefore not be interesting to me.
Similarly, I find that S-and-M outfits are very good looking on certain body types. I like a tall, leggy woman in a bustier, monster-thigh-high boots, and red-and-black color scheme. But I don't want to be whipped, and I don't get turned on by the idea of being dominated. So, as far as the LOOK of the theme goes, I'm turned on. As far as ACTING IT OUT goes, I'm not really. Take it or leave it.
On some theme nights, there are a lot of new customers at a club. For instance, one place in the French Quarter which is usually a bar and dance place (just a "normal" or "civilian" club) sometimes has "burlesque" nights, during which they do the whole cabaret thing -- em-cee, hot dancers with fans and bustiers and choreographed routines, even live music, an intermittent stand-up comedian. This would ABSOLUTELY SUCK if it happened at a regular strip club where I go, because the theme would draw in non-strip-club-goers who were ogling. I would feel like an animal caged in a zoo -- prim midwesterners would eye me and think to themselves, "Oh look, a horny male! I hear that horny males go to clubs LIKE THIS and now I'm glad to have seen one in its native habitat." I don't want to be the object of their scrutiny. However, in the club where the burlesques DO happen -- a club which is not usually a strip club at all -- it's a blast. Very fun. And I've recognized some of the girls from ... erm ... my other pursuits. :)
