When They Leave the Profession - A Few Success Stories

Many strippers insist that this is a temporary gig, and they have their sights on bigger and better things. In my experience, many of them mean it, but only a few of them believe it. My MO at a club has always been to establish a good vibe, and then frequent to secure a sure thing. Both my ATFs (at different points in time) ended up sometimes catching movies with me, or dinner. I have dropped one to the airport before. I would not say we were friends, but we were very friendly. We overshared at times, but nothing I would call our deepest darkest secrets. Both my ATFs were in their mid-twenties. Both eventually left stripping. One pursued a modeling career in NY, and actually made it onto some kind of small-time media personality role, doing interviews and expositions on stuff - I’m not sure exactly what her job entails, or who she did or is doing to get it, or if she actually just has the skills for the job and got it on merit. But from where I’m sitting she parlayed her modeling into something she’s happy with and that’s a success story to me. Soon after she found some legitimacy, she stopped responding to my texts. Years later we crossed paths via social media and a common acquaintance (an active stripper) and she said that back then she thought she needed to cut ties with people that reminded her of her past, but since then she realized that was unnecessary. Was not quite an apology, and we never did pick up on the old vibe, but she at least was honest that she was wrong to cut people off - that’s more than you get from most folk. The other one is graduating this month. Her self-esteem is on 11 right now, which is a remarkable turnaround. She never believed it would happen, and now here it is. I’m going to her graduation. I encouraged her when she was considering school, and I encouraged her when the classes were getting too heavy. Heavy for her meant a simple assignment was due and she wanted to party that weekend. She was incredibly irresponsible sometimes, inexplicably unconcerned about pissing off a teacher or not getting a textbook or missing a class because she didn’t feel like getting dressed. She just didn’t believe it was something she’d make her way through I think. Her last year is when she started thinking this could actually happen. She was still stripping but she would talk a lot about school, and what would come after school. Now she’s set to graduate, and already secured a job. She is still a party girl, the type that might come back to strip for a night for the hell of it. She will probably never stop doing that ridiculous ex of hers who she hates, but can’t get past. But she’s graduating, and she’s got a legit job that she’s actually qualified for. That’s a success story to me. My first ATF is lost to her new career. My second ATF has a job, but I suspect I’ll always have access to her; it’s OK if I don’t though. I’m happy for them both.

My ATF got a degree in finance and is working for accounting firm. Single mother and smart. I am so proud of her.

My ATF went to whoring then got knocked up and married the poor sucker..... He beats her like he did his first wife and I don't think he found out she is a hooker yet.

Most girls who are small time models are actually escorting to make ends meet.

Heart warming story, especially the second one. This thread reminded me of something. The last time I saw my fav, which was two weeks ago, she told me she’s going to look into going back to school to finish. And when she starts school again, she won’t be dancing anymore :(

I think it is important to be careful not to be denigrating strippers and other sex workers when talking like this. SJG

When i was in college, there were 3 girls that danced at the local strip club. I know 1 was a chemistry major. Not sure about the other 2.

My ATF went to work as a correctional officer for about a year and a half. Came back to stripping, then went into retail.

My russian immigrant ATF married some guy who is now supporting her while she’s trying to get a degree in psychology. Who knows how that will turn out, but she’s definitely better off. She has some serious emotional disorders and is now on meds and in therapy. She wanted to be friends but her husband couldn’t know. I said we should both move on. It’s tough, I had feelings, but good for her.

I wish I could be optimistic about my ATF’s future. She is 33 years old, got her GED in one of the many drug rehab programs she’s been in, and has poor reading and math skills. As a stripper she supported her heroin habit ($200 to $300 per day) and made very good money by being very generous with extras in the club and had more than a few regular OTC customers. However, those of us who did pay top dollar, did so because of her attractiveness and being with her was fun (even more so if you were both naked on a king sized bed). A year ago she kicked all drugs. In the past year she has spent more time learning how to live a sober life than she has working. She’s had two relapses and figuratively beat herself up after each. She’s gotten engaged to a guy who has a similar background only he’s also been incarcerated for a couple of years, too. Together they’ve agreed that she won’t strip, escort, or be a sex worker in any way. She’s been either calling or texting me 6 days out of 7 and she clearly is still living her life day to day. I’ve been her “customer” for 10 years and in that time I’ve seen her at her best and at her worst. Only she can determine what her tomorrow will be like.

My ATF left dancing for a while and then went back to it because she enjoyed it and by the way, our 2 boys are 22 and 15

I found a girl on Facebook 2 weeks ago who was associated with a club, so I messaged her. It turns out she danced through 2015-2017 but is now married and has 4 kids and doesn't seem to have any intention of returning to dancing. She did introduce me to her cousin though..... When I was teaching at a career college there were several girls in my classes who were or had danced, but I kept it professional and didn't talk about it unless they did.

Fifteen years ago, I was a regular with a college graduate beautiful dancer. She moved out west and I lost track of her for four years. When I looked her up on google, she was The OUTSTANDING LAW SCHOOL GRADUATE in bankruptcy law for THE NINTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT Now a lawyer—— Not your tropical dancer Very smart woman

Former ATF does a lot of Internet business ventures and [view link] for dog walking. Has boyfriend, and she shares custody of kids with ex-husband. No longer dancing (early 30s now, a little thicker than before now, was married very young), and trying hard to be middle class in a middle class environment. No drugs (she left a club when she saw the night shift manager and several dancers doing coke), and little drinking. Whenever I’ve run into her in the last couple years it’s been in totally civilian environments. Not sure I’d call her a “success” but she seems to have gotten the stripping part of her life out of her system.
