Are Strip Clubs going away? Part I

Whether it's a generational thing or the multiple options for your adult dollars, it seems that what once was a right of passage for most red blooded males is now an apparent novelty or relegated to bachelor parties. At least in the my corner of the country (Midwest), strip clubs are closing or on life support.

My work requires me to interact with a lot of twenty something males and I've done a little informal polling. The results when asked "When is the last time or have you ever been to a strip club" are almost always "I've only been once a couple of years ago" or "never." They usually divided into two groups. The men who say they don't "need" go to to see strippers, the inference being they're above attending a club and get all the hot ass they can handle just by walking in the room. And then there's the guys that when asked get sort of look of uncomfortable terror in their eyes. Like you just asked him to join you in a threesome at a Tijuana whorehouse.

I grew up in a small town the 80s when to see a booby you had to steal a glimpse of your dad's girly magazine or watch HBO at 3am. I wasn't experienced at adept at separating our small town girls from their Gloria Vanderbilt's so therefore I left my teens sexually frustrated.

So when I became the age that I could walk in a building and waved a twenty at the half naked chick gyrating across the room, it resulted in her leading me to a private area and gyrating naked on me, I was SOLD IMMEDIATELY!! But now BJs are given in middle school bathrooms and sexting your last four boyfriends by your junior year is common place so maybe it is a generalization thing.

Part 2 coming later...

Just speaking from my experience (i don't have any real data to back this up) but in my corner of the woods (North-Central NJ) almost all of the towns are trying to close them down if they have them or force them to go bikini/go-go style. Many clubs are in constant litigation for violating this or that. You have to understand that most municipalities in NJ are pretty predatory and want more tax dollars/redevelopment done/fines, etc. Also when there's shootings/large fights they tend to get shutdown and may never reopen if higher bidders want the land. I don't think its due to lack of demand amongst younger guys but to a reduced willingness of towns to have them nowadays. My younger cousin is early 20s hes been to a few. Im 32 ive been to too many to remember lol As land becomes more expensive its all about the tax dollars and many clubs were built in shitty spots decades ago that are now more valuable real estate. Ive noticed a pattern here in NJ but Im sure its different elsewhere. Jersey's always a little different...
According to the news younger kids dont drink, smoke, do drugs or have sex as much we did either so you might be on to something. There could also be vast differences by region. Go-Gos/Strip clubs are more numerous and ingrained in the culture of certain places than in others.

In most place I travel, the clubs appear to be in trouble. IMO... One big factor is that disposable income never recovered after the 2008 recession. Less spending = less motivation for a woman to be a dancer, particular anyone with other (legit) options. Another (likely) factor I think is generational. This second point can take two forms: First, the 'don't hurt my feeling' generation is petrified that the PC police will hunt them down for setting foot in a SC and you're not a 'woke' millennial if you're out SCing. Second, I think (rightly or wrong) that for under-30's generation it doesn't take much effort to get civie action.

The OP looks like if it's a cut and paste from some other website

From what I’ve witnessed in San Francisco over the past 2 decades, I've come to the same conclusions -- that strip clubs are losing business and are slowly starting to disappear. Even Mitchell Brothers where the lapdance was invented (1980), is about ready to go under.

Also agree that it might be a generational thing. When I read the chat on Camgirl websites, it seems like many of the younger guys are even repulsed by strip clubs, and incorrectly seem to hold a prejudice against strippers that they will not place on camgirls. Too bad, I had some magical moments and met some terrific girls at Mitchell Brothers, but then that was always a special strip club because of the owners’ obsession for the performances.

Papi.... No cut and paste! Just an observation straight out of my own ass.

I also have had some memorable moments in SCs over my life. From the days when dancers would put more emphasis on the stage performance than the lap or VIP. I remember when a dancer came to the stage dressed as a teacher or cheerleader or even naughty school girl. Anyone remember the infamous blanket dance? For uninitiated , it was when a performer would bring out and perform on a blanket, usually on her last song, seductively writhing around on the stage, effectively simulating banging her invisible lover. To me it was always preferred to the pole gymnastics that followed the years later! But I digress...

The decline of strip-clubs is of concern to most hobbyists especially those that have been at it for a good-while and can contrast/compare the past and present - thus this subject-matter has been discussed multiple times on TUSCL both in discussion-threads and articles - some of the theories that have been thrown around:

+ the internet - the internet has displaced many a business and many site online competition such as webcams, free porn, escort-sites, sugar-daddy websites, etc, as taking a significant bite from the strip-clubs

+ the proliferation of high-mileage dances and extras - many SCers state that this has driven many dancers away particularly the better looking dancers that used to get buy just by their looks but find-it harder to compete w/ the mileage-girls

+ gentrification - seems more and more cities are looking at SCs as unwanted eyesores and would prefer other businesses in its place (strip-mall; condo building; etc) - seems many once neglected or somewhat neglected areas are now getting the eye of developers and strip-clubs are often seen as an unwanted part of new development

+ seems there current trend is becoming more anti sex-biz - women in the sex-biz are seen as victims that are being exploited thus the elimination of the sex-biz is seen as taking away avenues where women area exploited (human trafficking is part of this equation - and the #MeToo movement may also be having an anti sex-biz effect) - the college environment seems more liberal than ever these days and most college men are made to feel guilty and evil if they just think sexual-thoughts (kinda exaggerating but ...) - i.e. the current generation of guys is often indoctrinated that them hitting strip-clubs is being a douche that exploits women so they are programmed and brainwashed into following mostly ultra-left feminist shit

$100 for a lapdance?!?! Bro dont piss it away like that, please. These girls gotta earn their keep, too. When i was in college $5 at the door was standard at every party, just about every campus, unless you had boobs. When we had a house thats what we charged, too. Only ten years ago.

You might be on to something DC9428. If you make the correlation to the other side of things strip club wise, I've read many complaints about the new generation of young dancers of not wanting to really do anything for their money. From bitching about having to get off their pretty asses and leave the relative comfort of their regular's booth and go up on stage or even *GASP* walk the floor looking for the opportunity for new revenue. They'd rather bitch about not making money like the veteran (read older) dancers.
I'm not sure if the apparent uptick in GPS is related to this age group that's notoriously known for the toxic cocktail of soaring levels of self-worth mixed with plummeting levels of usable grey matter. Google "Illusory superiority" connected with the Dunning–Kruger effect. (Or POTUS)

@ brnbch: ive noticed it amongst some of the snowflake dancers, they dont do actual polework and act like a fucking lapdance is a big chore, some of them. better off going right to the immigrant girls, or veterans they tend to work harder and arent hung up on me too and the like. i think blacc chyna, cardi b and amber rose also put an unrealistic expectation of the job into some young girls heads. i talked to a young dancer about this and she admitted thats why she got into it. the perception of the job has changed somewhat due to instagram and some famous ex-strippers who got famous. instagram is 2d; the stage, the club and its customers are 3 dimensional and often pretty grimy.
@ dc: well thats better but damn $10 a minute is still steep
