What YMMV means in club reviews

What does YMMV mean in a strip club review. I do not like the acronym because YMMV does not really mean Your Mileage May Vary. It really means Your Mileage Probably Will Vary. There are factors both beyond your control and in your control that factor into it. Controlling those factors where you have influence is the difference between having a great experience at a YMMV club and a poor one.

Factors beyond your control

There are strippers who like to push the limits in both directions. On one extreme, you have strippers who just want to get topless and give air dances. On the other extreme, you have strippers who are willing to get nude and possibly even give extras in a topless club. Both of them think the other type ruins the club for them. Most are somewhere in between the two.

If there are more topless types working in a given night, the odds against getting more mileage are stacked against you that night because of peer pressure. It does not mean you cannot or will not get mileage. But it gets harder because if word gets back to certain people, there will be some drama.

There is another thing that plays into it too, which is somewhat related. Like any job, some strippers are into it only for the money and some of them really enjoy it, and are glad they can make a living doing something they enjoy.

Factors you can control

You cannot control who is working that night. But you can control other things.

First, look for the dancer who is enjoying herself. That does not mean to ignore the dancer who seems to be mailing it in that night. If you tip her and tell her she is beautiful, she may perk up if she is just having a bad night. When a dancer seems to react well to you, she is the one you want to ask about a private dance. If you're shy and nervous she is likely to ask you anyway. But one trick is to ask if you can talk about a lapdance. That can be easier than asking for a dance directly.

One of the reasons shy and nervous guys have an easier time getting dances in stripclubs is because the dancers can assume, rightly, they are less likely to say no, and also more likely to follow the rules. And if you like the dance, then you get more dances from her or maybe VIP.

That leads into the second thing you can control.

When you control the way you act, that will influence how the dancers react to you.

If you come in with the attitude that the customer is always right and you are the customer, and make the girls earn every single you whip out, you won't get any extra mileage. You will see less on stage. You will get air dances or low-contact dances. And what happens in VIP? Like a viral Tiktok video I saw, "Just a lapdance. That's all you're getting." It is just not worth risking any drama over that.

But if you come in and give off a pleasant vibe, you are nice to the girls and treat them with some respect, you tip without being asked, follow the club rules, and respect her boundaries, pretty much all but the most extreme girls are willing to go beyond topless and air dances. On stage, they linger in front of you a little bit longer and they show more skin while they are there. During a lapdance, they give more contact and may relax the rules. Relaxing the rules by moving your hands somewhere they previously said not to touch does two things. It rewards you for not being selfish. But the second thing it does is let her have more fun. And when she is having more fun, you will have more fun. And then in VIP, there are more likely to be options on the menu including more nudity and possibly extras.

There might still be some drama, but in the second scenario, you made putting up with the drama worth it because you were pleasant to be around and you weren't stingy with your money. She got closer to her goal for the night, you had a good time, and it was a win-win.

The key is, do not come in and act entitled. Have fun and let her have some fun too. And if she does change the rules for you, take it as a compliment. she is not trying to get you in trouble. she is thanking you for being a good customer.

So that's why when you read club reviews that tend to say YMMV, one reviewer may say it's a waste of time and another says it was a great time. The club is really what you make of it. Bottom line, if you are pleasant, seem like you are having a good time, and let the girls have a good time, you will have a positive experience.

I have a perspective on this post that I want to share.... but I also want to see how others in the community think/act... before I do.

However, I will add... for me there is a sliding scale of mileage... enjoyment vs cost... They are indirectly related to each other... as my ease and enjoyment goes up, your cost goes down.. and vice versa...

There are - of course - other factors... but if I am having a good time... I want you to have a good time too... and that reflects itself in the cost of... amenities. You can get pretty much anything you want.. but if I am not having an easy and enjoyable time, the sliding scale of prices... goes up..

YMMV means a lot of things to a lot of people... strippers included...

Perhaps YMPWV should be also in the glossary.
I will also suggest that 'fucking lucky if you think you're going to get that kind of service'

YMMV Fine. If anything a lot of clubs are seasonal. Holidays, events and whatever else have a huge impact.

I also think that YMMV is fine. It is the general disclaimer that the wonderful amazing time that the reviewer had with his dancer in the LP/VIP room should not be "expected" by anyone else going to that club. On the other hand, there are clubs where the wonderful amazing time reported does NOT also carry the YMMV disclaimer (and we all know which clubs those are)
