Irritating to get through the door, but a good time after that

The Spearmint Rhino is in downtown Minneapolis, maybe a quarter mile down the street from Dream Girls, and close to other clubs. It's street wasn't as torn up as some of the others downtown, but you're probably still better off looking for a nearby ramp than street parking. The club is right next to the "Skyway Theater", which on the Friday I visited had a large group of women in lingerie and other clubbing outfits waiting outside to get in. I confused many of them for strippers as I approached.

At the Rhino itself, there was a guy at the door who gave me this whole speech about respecting the dancers and whatnot. I'm a non-drunk, aging white guy in business casual attire. I don't know the reason for the heavy hand, though I guess he was reasonably nice. He walked me inside, saying generously "We got your cover". It was early, about 9pm, and few people where there. Then inside I got wanded and patted down, had my ID checked, and was asked to sign a Covid contact sheet. All told, the whole entrance procedure was a bit much.

The club inside was fairly nice. There's sort of a narrow spot as you enter then a large room with a bar and then the stage on the right, tables, and then a long bench on the left wall. The ceiling was high, open to some sort of upper floor that I never investigated, which made the space feel larger. Past the area with the pole is some more seating more suitable to a group partying with a dancer than watching the stage.
