Theres too much bias involved in an inflation thread cause people who run a small business or own a significant amount of stocks desperately dont want inflation going down whereas people who have more in cash would want deflation. There have been a bunch of stocks crashing in price cause of expected deflation, and a bunch of stocks start crashing instantly anytime there is an announcement of interest rates going up. Also the real value of money stays the same no matter what inflation or deflation is going on so even if your business is making less money in dollar amounts, doesn’t mean you actually lost money if inflation also went down heavily.

Ricky anytime interest rates are raised is in order to reduce inflation. Raising interest rates reduces spending especially larger purchase spending. People are less likely to buy cars or houses etc with higher interest rates. Of course they’ll still buy necessities like food and utilities. Yet they’re more likely to rent instead of buy, and clearly if they are spending less they are more likely to go for cheaper food options. So high end restaurants, food delivery services will suffer more, the more interest rates go up. Its basic macroeconomics the more you raise interest rates the more you shrink the money supply.
The food stamp and obamacare programs you mention, were already present before when interest rates were lower. So all else equal, raising interest rates means there is less inflation, or more deflation compared to before.
Also some economists have stated a small amount of inflation is fine its done alongside population growth and technological advancements.
And btw socialized programs have nothing to do with inflation, inflation is caused by printing money or increasing the money supply. A socialized program would take money away from one person to give to another person so inflation would net-net be the same if the money supply is the same.
